Thanks for joining me on this guide to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport! This world-famous airport connects more passengers to their next flight than any other airport on Earth, and if you're planning to pass through here, this guide's for you! This airport serves the great city of Atlanta, Georgia, but as the primary hub of Delta Air Lines, it's also a place to connect to flights all around the world. Most other major American airlines have a large presence here, too. In short, it's where America comes to fly!
I do a lot of original research while preparing these videos, so please leave a comment below if you have questions about the tour or navigating the airport, and I'll do my best to answer them! Or, share your own thoughts and experiences about ATL! The contents of this video are accurate as of their publication in December 2023, but may be subject to change permanently or temporarily without notice.
Finally, let me know where you'd like to see next! Stay tuned for new flight and airport videos every few weeks!
Please travel safely!

In 2022 when I was taking a trip, I intentionally booked a trip with an 8 hour layover in Atlanta so I can explore the airport thoroughly. I explored all of the terminals, walked through all of the underground connections and was able to comfortably visit all of the sky clubs and still had about an hour and a half before my departure. I am a reviewer for Google so I was able to comfortably take photographs and videos of the airport and most of the restaurants and lounges in the airport to upload to Google maps.

We are flying for the first time in a few months, and I was hesitant about connecting via ATL, since it's soooo big! Your video helped me visualize what I'll encounter and alleviate some fears. Thanks!

I agree with your take. Despite its size, ATL is definitely the easiest airport to transfer through in the US. It's maybe not the best-looking one, and finding a place to relax (outside of a lounge) for a long period of time can be difficult, but I don't have to worry if I have a sub-60-minute layover there. It's extremely efficient. That said, starting/ending at ATL can be a pain since all O&D passengers are funneled through T, and only a few can use F, such as international passengers and domestic passengers with just a carry-on (also doesn't help that F is not directly connected to MARTA either).

Glad you agree! One thing I struggled to find in my footage was anyone running for their next gate, which is a good problem! Clearing security through F is one of ATL's little secrets, in my opinion!

@@MilesByFootThey opened up another security checkpoint at the lower level of the North terminal. But as an Atlanta resident, I have to struggle going through TSA since the airport’s layout funnels all domestic passengers through one security area.

My most memorable moment at ATL was my very first time there. I was in 7th grade going to Huntsville for Space Camp so of course we had a layover in ATL. As soon as we got off the plane. I saw an elderly lady on a golf cart and she dropped one of her bags and as she was reaching for it, she fell off. I know she’s gone now considering this was in 2008 but I was so scared for her. Ive only had layovers in ATL and as a blind person going through many times, i actually find this easy to navigate and I walk around confidently. Im about to fly into ATL next week and so I’m excited to FINALLY break out of the airport after all there years. I guess I can update when I fly out of there in a few months!😆😅

Tell you what, Miles. Hartsfield-Jackson ATL Int'l Airport, as the world's busiest airport since 1998, is part of Metro Atlanta's transportation system because Atlanta is linked to many railways and roads, making it a transportation hub of the Southeastern US. Lastly, the airport is in both Fulton and Clayton Counties and in parts of the city limits of Atlanta, College Park, and Hapeville.

I’ve been flying out and connecting through ATL for years. I still would not book a flight with less than an hour to connect and more time now that age is slowing me down a bit. Atlanta is still one of the simplest airports to navigate.
@MilesByFoot
@MilesByFoot 6 күн бұрын
An excellent assessment; I love ATL, and while they help in some places and it is simple, you'll have to walk a considerable distance to get to a connection, with tight ones becoming more difficult. I'd say ATL's made it as simple as possible, but it's still not "easy," just because of the airport's size and traffic volume!

maybe it has to be but for me its a nightmare. I fly out of SFO and that airport is a piece of cake. When I fly back east again I'm going to find out if there is another airport for a layover.. Then again I may just have to find a clear way to navigate it. Thanks for making the vid

The bigger the airport, the broader the spectrum of experiences. I've had great layovers at ATL and pretty terrible problems here, too. I do hope the next time you're through will be better, though! SFO's a great airport; only been through a time or two, but never had problems there!

And fare warning. I was there in late Nov of '24 & COULD NOT find 1 vendor, shop, restaurant that would accept cash. They were all card only ! Ridiculous ! If they have a stealing problem w/employees they should atleast notify their paying clientele prior to them arriving, having to wait sometimes hrs; with no c.c & cash only !

Make sure nothing major goin on the day you travel. I arrived 2 hrs prior 2 an inland flight but it happened 2 be the same day Trump had 2 turn himself in 2 Atl for booking. Everything was shut down. The ckpoint lines were snaked thru entire airport & told atleast 4 hrs long. Coludnt even tell where the end of the line was ! Needless to say I missed my flight & had 8 hrs 2 kill till next 1. ( which the airline did cover ) But I could've had almost another day w/friends, not gotten up @ 5 a.m just 2 miss my flight or gotten there earlier had I known or been given a heads up. It was crazy !
