Oh my god, I remember being a good conservative Asian teen in 2013 watching the Korean news and finding out about her performance! My little Disney channel-loving mind was so shocked and seriously concerned for her. Really thought she was never gonna recover from all the hate and that her carrier was over for sure 😂

It was the only way to get out of the Disney machine that was controlling her life at the time. Everyone thought she went crazy, but it was purely calculated. It worked, Disney cut her off and did everything in their power to distance themselves from her. You could tell that she knew exactly what she was doing bc the whole stunt was short-lived, she quickly went back to normal after that album and started making tame country songs. It was clear she was done with being Hannah Montana and even said in interviews that she wanted to escape her character's shadow. I mean, after Disney forced her to work for 12 hrs a day since the age of 13 and doing non-stop global tours since the age of 14, I don't blame her.
