astanga means 8 limbs i.e. ashta = 8 and anga = limbs. it's from sanskrit

Asthanga means eight part of yaga. Anga doesn't mean limbs or organs.

@@respect-zone3688 anga in hindi is closer to the words "parts" in English...Asthanga in yoga means eight parts(discourses) of yoga but otherwise it simply refers to organs.. The word can also be used to describe parts/chapters in a book or the parts of a bicycle!!

actually it's a Hindi word as you know Yoga is an Indian (Hinduism) thing. It's Yog but westerner calls it Yoga. Ashtaang is called as Ashtanga over there.

I love when the west talk about yoga ! Postures is only a spec in the ocean in indian yoga , its not gymnastics ! U dont see indians boasting about poses !

@@tonys490 the thing about yoga is that it works if you do it. These yoga poses are transformative and does help a lot of people. I would say West is the one that made yoga popular in the rest of the world. Also I don't like how people do yoga in india in general either most of them are overweight not knowing what they are doing and try to do pranayama because they can't do any of the postures anyways.

I have always loved Miley, even when she went through her crazy phase....she's is a smart girl, and she has a great voice which sounds same in the studio and live. Kid stars have a tough life..and can make mistakes. No point in hating. ❤

Ashtang Yoga is about Yam, Niyam, Asana, Pranayam, Pratyahar, Dharna, Dhyan and Samadhi. It's about the 8 stages of sadhna to unite with the only self. But it's good to see the western minds trying their brains on it, it must be helping without even understanding it's essence. These physical postures are Asanas, just 1 out of the 8 different and more important stages. ॐ नमः शिवाय
