Sounds great! I love the march The Kings Guard :) Can anyone please tell me why there are only 3 drummajors instead of 5? The massed band also looks smaller as usual, but correct me if im wrong :)

Hello Barry, you're not wrong! This particular massed band only includes 3 of the Guards bands: Irish, Welsh and Scots. The other 2 Guards bands went up separately and individually - Grenadier and Coldstream. Later, when they marched back from Horse Guards Parade to Wellington Barracks after the ceremony all 5 Guards bands were massed together.

It is in Westminster close to Buckingham Palace. The soldiers left the guards museum on the birdcage walk towards Buckingham Palace. From Buckingham Palace they left along The mall, until they arrived at the household cavalry museum in Whitehall.

10:33 I'm intrigued by the fact the drummer in the corner never plays his drum... on any song in the video. I'm sure there is a reason, it puzzles me though. Absolutely love these videos! Its better than being there!!

Hello there!! He's this years Lone Drummer. He's actually from the Disbanded Irish Guards Corps of Drums, not the Pipes and Drums we see marching in this video. So, he's carrying a regular Snare Drum. Not a High Tensioned Snare Drum used by the rest of the Drummers of the Pipes and Drums. So he doesn't have to play. Hope this clears it up!

@@youtubeaccount5738 My understanding is that the battalion's current role has brought "rationalisation" in this area. Hopefully will change whenever they move to a new role. Someone with better knowledge can possibly improve on my answer.

Can someone please explain why some of the musicians have a red sort of cover on their tunic? 4:01

Hello there! The reason those musicians have those Scarlet Aprons is to protect their Uniforms from their Instruments. If you look closely you can see only, Percussionists, Tuba, Euphonium, Saxophone, and Bassoon Players wear them. As these Instruments come in constant Contact with their Uniforms. This prevents any damage to the buttons or fabric of their tunics. Which can be costly and time consuming. Hope this helps!

If you're talking about the shout at about 05:47 , it will just be a large number of the band members. When I've seen the Irish Guards band playing this piece by themselves, they do the shout in the same place in the music.
