They aren't actually that bad when you pick particularly stonefish as they hardly feel it, well he said they can't feel properly. Jelly fish in particular just dehydrated when they get caught out of water after 24 hours, seen tons of them even up in the very south of Scotland, no worse than say a bee sting actually they're pretty weak, they don't even have a brain actually.

Gonzaa Rmt There are 3 kinds of poison-related objects that kill you in different ways: Poison: Kills you if you ingest/eat it Toxin: Kills you if you touch it/inhale it Venom: Kills you if injected into your bloodstream.
@Hazard0ss
@Hazard0ss 8 жыл бұрын
Dalai Ankhbayar that classification does not exist in this way. Toxin: Every chemical that harms you, no matter the origin or way of exposure Poison: Passive Toxin inside of some organisms against predators/parasites/whatever harmful other organism Venom: Agressive Toxin with a distinct way of transmission (injecting, spitting,...) for hunting and/or defense The reason most Venoms don't hurt you when you drink them is because they are peptide-based and as such get denaturated by your stomach acid.

I don't get why it's practical for the fish to have venom this way.the only victims i can imagine being affected by the stingers are humans or things that are relatively heavy and walk on the beach. it's like these fish are born just to troll

An animal being extremely venomous creates evolutionary pressure favoring other animals in its environment that don't attempt to eat it. Over time many of the animals previously natural predators will simply stop trying to eat the species. But in very large and diverse ecosystems like what you tend to find in oceans there will always be some predators that still try to eat it. So the evolutionary pressure favoring the more venomous individuals remains. That's how you end up with very venomous or poisonous animals and plants that use it merely as a defense mechanism in places like rain forests and reefs.

I believe that may be do to the fact that I mainly stayed in Sydney and its suburbs rather than going into the wild parts. From Wiki: "The pain is said to be so severe that the victims of its sting have been known to demand that the affected limb be amputated." "I got spiked on the finger by a Stonefish in Australia … never mind a bee sting. … Imagine having each knuckle, then the wrist, elbow and shoulder being hit in turn with a sledgehammer over the course of about an hour. Then about an hour later imagine taking a real kicking to both kidneys for about 45 minutes so that you couldn’t stand or straighten up. I was late 20s, pretty fit physically and this was the tiniest of nicks. Got sensation back in my finger after a few days but had recurrent kidney pains periodically for several years afterwards."
