In this video tutorial I am showing you my basic Lightroom Milky Way workflow. This shot was taken in Petaluma, California. I shot it on a Sony Alpha A7S with a Rokinon 24 mm lens. It was a 30 second shot at ISO 1600.
When shooting the Milky Way you want to get as much of the Milky Way in your frame as possible. Using the Sony Alpha A7S and the Rokinon 24mm you are guaranteed to get it in your frame no matter where you are. The Sony Alpha A7S is a full frame camera. So, you could use a Nikon or Canon full frame with the same lens and it will be the same. If you are using a crop sensor camera, like the Sony Alpha a6300, you would need a 16mm lens to be equivalent with the 24mm Rokinon lens.
If yo see the original photo in the video you will notice that it has a yellow tone to it. I tried to get the colors as neutral as possible. How ever you decide to process your photo is up to you. LIghtroom has many sliders and you can create some wild looking Milky Way shots. I would say go with what you like.
