ASMR relaxing hair dryer sound.
the soothing sound of the hair dryer is a white noise that allows you to fall asleep and calms babies when they cry from colic or teeth.

That sound reminds me the mornings that my mom was preparing for work. I was in the bed felling warm listening to that sound and planing for my future. Here I am right now, in the army trying to feel close to my family listening to that amazing sound again. Good old days!

Everybody is sharing their story, so it's my time too: When I was around five years old, I always got up very early in the morning and heard my mother drying her hair after showering. I always came running to her and tried to reach the direction the warm air was coming from. When I did, I mostly fell asleep in her arms and when I didn't, I snuggled with her until she had to go to work. Now, almost a decade later, I am depressed but every time when I hear this noise I get warm and happy. Thanks for taking your time to read this, it means a lot to me. 🥲

When I was around four my mom would get up each morning and dress me while I was half asleep. She’d scrunch up the shirt and put it over my head. Than put my pants on. Than she’d get the blow dryer and put them in the openings of my socks to warm them up for my feet. Than do the same with my gloves. I’d lay there listening to the sound of the blow dryer and it gave my baby brain tingles of comfort. I lost my mom unfortunately to cancer. I was seven. I miss her but I’m glad I have memories like that to remember her by. Thank you for posting this and giving me comfort through sound.

It's great to read other people's stories while listening to this, so here's mine. I always remember liking the sound of hair dryers, vacuum cleaners and stuff like that, however I didn't realize how relaxing this sound can be until I discovered this video. This sound reminds me of those mornings when I was younger and I felt warm in bed while my mom dried her hair and got ready for work, it was such a cozy feeling. I also remember following my mom as she vacuumed the house in the afternoon. I remember our vacuum cleaner used to blow some hot air backwards, so I'd just stand behind the vacuum and follow it everywhere, while I took the hot air in my face and heard that sound that made me feel so cozy. Sadly, when I was 16, I lost my mother to cancer. Today in my 20s, when I feel sad and lost, I usually watch this video because it reminds me of the good old memories I have with my mom. Thank you for posting this video and giving me this peaceful feeling! ❤🕊

I've read dozens of stories in the comment section and I decided to add my own. My earliest memories of liking the sounds of hair dryer, vacuum, etc. is when I was ill. It was pretty early in the morning, I believe it could be November, maybe December. And ofc, it was cold. Before the flat heated up a bit, my mom plugged in the hair dryer and blew some hot air below my blanked. Since then, every single time my mom was prepairing to go on the night shift, I waited for her to dry her hair and then took it and blew some hot air below blanket, while watching my fav series on TV. No, I didn't really care that I didn't hear anything 😅 something similar when I had to vacuum the flat, I stood directly in front of it, so the hot air was blewing on my feet. I always get chills in my back when I hear the sound. And from time to time, when it's chilly outside, like today, I got this kind of mood when I would love to just wrap myself in a blanked and plug in the hair dryer. Sadly, I can't - I am in work rn. That's why I found this video. I would also reccomend one with the blow torch repairing a seats at the stadium :)

ahhhh, I just love the sound of a hair dryer, so relaxing I don't even know why. Also love the sound of a vacuum cleaner. I can remember as a kid half asleep in my bed on a Saturday morning and my mom would be vacuuming at the same time, it would just put me in another dimension or something, almost in a trance.

When I was around 5 years old, I remember sitting in the hallway right outside the bathroom door, which I insisted stay open, while my mom was blow drying her hair. I sat there on the floor underneath my tiny "blanky" (as I called it), decorated by colourful light pink, blue, green, and yellow bubbles all over it. And since I was so little, the blanket covered me up perfectly. As I sat there underneath my blanky, and my mom was blow drying her hair, the sound was the most relaxing sensation I had ever experienced before. I would also ask my mom to blow the hot air in my direction so that my blanky would get warm. Warming comfort and tingly sounds. Literal bliss. This video made me remember that moment. Thank you!

When I was about the same age I remember laying in the bed and falling asleep while my mom was doing the same after her late night bath on weekends, I closed my eyes and juste listened from my room in front of the bathroom, doors open. Lately in life I started using the hair dryer sound to sleep after night shifts at work. Today I'm addicted the white noises.

I remember when my father was alive he used to warm up the bed with the hair dryer during the cold winter nights. I can't describe how nice that feeling was, it was like a warm hug. Then me and my sisters started to use it too and I do it mostly when I've got flu and I need to warm up and relax my muscles to ease the pain and tensione. Guys this machine works wonders, god bless whoever invented it. I hope they're in heaven right now ❤

Finding comfort in something that is harmless or doesn't affect another person is actually a good tool instead of relying on someone else to relieve anxiety etc. Personally I listen to this every night as I live alone and it helps me to not over think and drift off to sleep quicker...im mad because of that?! When i was 4 I would listen to my mother hair drying and it would calm me and give me tingles throughout the body. Amidst that age she passed away from cancer however that habit of enjoying hairdrying like my mother existed in me. Up till the age of 8 on holidays or when I would get permission to skip school by my dad for whatever reasons I would take a shower lie down on the bed, pull a lead from the switch, turn on the TV and put on a movie and enjoy the sound of blow drying whilst I relaxed and watched a movie. It felt amazing to me. But slowly when u grow up ur tolerance for constant heat and time for such things turns down. In a more mature mind things never fully comfort u and u begin to think the worst of situations, so while the young version of me would put a lead on the bed and relax hairdrying the older version is in constant fear of the electric creating a fire on the bed or how I have migraines with large amounts of heat on head so this video and others similar to it do wonders for Me. Thnk u.

Hearing this sound makes me feel so warm and fuzzy. As a child growing up in the 90’s, I have fond memories of my mom drying my hair on those cold winter nights because “you don’t want to catch a cold going to be with wet hair” haha. The sound immediately sends a wave of calmness as I remember my mom running her fingers through my hair and feeling the warmth of the blow dryer ☺️

Its so nice to read people's stories while listening. Here one of mine! So i also grew up loving the hairdryer, both listening to my mom blowdrying and having it on me. And at some point in middle school i realised how relaxing drying your hair while laying in bed is. So in the evening when i took my bath twice a week i would bundle up in my bed and get so comfortable. But middle school was also the time where i transitioned from watching Disney Channel daily on TV to not really watching TV anymore. So what i would do was, because i didn't have a TV in my room, i would get my laptop, search up the channel online, find a server and enjoy my disney shows as i was blowdrying! Good times. Now i am almost 18, in highschool, so scared for the future, bundled up in the same bed, worrying ab a test tomorrow and comforfing myself with this while my hair is freshly washed and dried. You know what? I think everything is going to be great! I am actually, genuinely excited for life, and whoever is reading this, i hope you are too. We are so lucky to be where we are and life will always give us a second chance! Remember that! Its not over, its never over!(If you got this far, do yourself a favour and unclench your jaw) Have a great night/day!

What country? I'm from the north of Spain, in my city everyday rains and my Mother was used to dry her hair and listening to it gave me goosebumps while I was in the bed, Uncredibly good feeling. The washing machine of my house was also broken and it did a weird sound but it was so damn relaxing and I was used to sleep to that sound. That with 6 years old now I'm 22 and I still listen to this it gives me goosebumps and peace. My friends doesn't understand why I do this but the dont feel the same, even they tried it but it doesnt work for them. I remember this one time i went on a sports camp in France. It lasted a week and by some bizzare chance, we where only one group,6 teens in the entire camp. One of the best weeks of my life. Anyway, i was kinda shy at first cause i didnt know any of them, but i got along well with these two girls who later became my best friends. We stuck together through the whole camp, and since the showers where outdoors, and it was really cold cause we were in the mountains, the supervisiors let us go in the building where they had fancy rooms with bathrooms and let us use the blowdryers. It was a chilly summer afternoon, in fact it was a lil cloudy. We were on the first floor of this motel-like building, talking, laughing, chilling and drying our hair. It was the beggining of a friendship. I felt safe. It felt nice. In moments like that, you have to stop for a second and tell everybody "Does it really get nicer than this?"

The comment sections of videos like this are my favourite in all of KZfaq. It’s just 100% wholesomeness as everyone’s sharing their shared experience. For me when I was younger I used to wake up early to listen to my mum blow drying her hair, and when I discovered there were videos like this online I’d lay in bed, fan on full blast trying to make myself cold. 8 odd years later, I’m 21 years old and during stressful times in my life I come back to videos like these to help me unwind and sleep.

It's nice knowing other people have the same feeling. I am really happy that I can still live my life in my bed in the morning on school days when every 2 days my mum dries her hair and I just listen to the sound and feel so cozy and even though I just hear it I feel so warm and safe. Just for that moment I can forget everything and for the sadly short time I enjoy my life and never want to stop that feeling.

First of all, thank you for this. It's so beautiful to see how so many people connect in the comments remembering their childhood memories so maybe you wanna know mine as well :) Well, as many of the people here I remember the mornings before kindergarten lying in my parents bed below the blanket and listening to the sound of my mother blowdrying her hair and smelling the awesome breakfast my dad made in the kitchen. Mostly my mum blowdried in the middle of winter wich can get really cold here where I live so it made me feel so cozy and safe hearing this so that I always hoped she would continue to blow dry a little longer before I had to dress up. Well and now I'm nearly 16 years old, my very last schoolyear began and my parents are seperated, right now it's 5 am and I can't sleep due to missing my boyfriend who is at work already, I'm freezing because we are starting winter here and that's how I came here, I remembered this beautiful sound and now I'm lying here below my blanket feeling cozy and safe again, it may sound crazy but it's almost like I can smell the breakfast like a would back then with 7 years of age ♥️

When I was younger I would never find the motivation to shower if it wasn't for the long, hot water sessions and for the hair drying part. But I would never want to do it myself and I would always go to my father and ask him to do it for me. I would sit in the bathroom and let him dry my hair. Every time, I found it extremely relaxing, I would start feeling sleepy and less stiff and I would close my eyes and listen to the hair dryer's sounds. I would always, always get shivers from the hot air blowing on my skin, contrasting the less warm air in the rest of the room. Then it would stop, and I had to go and end that lovely experience. Eventually growing up I started doing it myself, but it never is like it used to be, when someone else does it for you.... I never told him how much I liked it and it's actually one of the few good memories I associate with him. I also love going to the dentist, the sound the water thing and other machines makes is so loud, yet so soothing, I always feel like sleeping hahaha

So the reason why I like the sound of hairdryers so much is bc when I was around 3-5 my mom used to work very early and woke us up at 5-6 am to take us to our grandmas house for the day. She proceeds to wake us up and then I would go crawl into her bed while she was drying her hair. Her bed smelt like her, and I felt safe. I obviously fell asleep most of the time. So the sound of hairdryers make me sleepy and it’s just so nostalgic.

I love to read stories here, so I will add one for others to explore: My first memory is of a bright room, lit by the sun, with Pink Floyd's "Division Bell" playing in the background. This morning my mother was preparing for work, drying her hair. I would always go to the bathroom, step on a toilet and ask her to blow be with the air. Often she was in a hurry, so I just had to run around her, trying to grasp these rare gusts of warmth. To be hones, since then I always enjoyed hearing that sound. Another great way to improve my day was by following a vacuum. It used to blow warm air up, so I followed it and let it turn my shirt into a little parachute which captures all the air inside of it. Sometimes I even would turn the vacuum on just to enjoy the warmth. When I was around 8y, my mother often worked morning shifts, or when she had day shifts I was in a school so I had less chances to enjoy the warmth of the white noise. After the divorce of my parents... nothing was really going that well and I remember waking up at 5am. My mother was already at work so I went to shower and then dried myself with a hairdryer. Then I went to my computer and turned this exact video on. Simultaneously I ate something good and watched a video review of a delivery restaurant (I really loved to watch those then). With a shower rob warming me the sleep fairy didn't wait for long. Yeah, I didn't go to school that day. Things have changed since then but I still enjoy this sound. It still brings me peace and it is still something that will remind me of those distant times where childish worries could never obstruct from the enjoyment of life. Simplest things brought happiness. But what is now? In late teen-age, addicted to social media, not knowing what to expect from tomorrow, in a middle of a world crisis... Still here because of the peace this stuff brings me. I am really happy that this place brings all kinds of people together to enjoy... I believe Roger Water managed the best to put these feelings into words: "You are young and life is long, and there is time to kill today And then one day you find ten years have got behind you No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun"

All these stories sound so familiar! Just like a lot of the stories here, I've loved the sound of vacuum cleaners and hairdryers for as long as I have memories! Some of the very first memories I have are as a child/toddler (it's so long ago that they're only snapshots of memories but they're still so dear to me). Every time my mom would vacuum the house I would follow her around and sit right next to it so I could hear the sound and feel the warm air blowing out of it. And every time after I would be so relaxed and sleepy my mom would take me up to her room, put me in her bed, put a relaxing kids video in the VCR player and I would be out in seconds. I also have very fond memories of her waking me up, and getting me breakfast etc then I would lay in her bed while she got ready for work, of course the best part being when she would dry her hair and occasionally turn the hairdryer on me. There are probably only a very small handful of experiences in life that can give you that level of comfort and cosiness and most of them are illegal! Now, nearly 30 years later and I've still been coming back to these sounds for comfort. I don't usually stick to one video/resource as I find if it's been monotonous for too long it starts to lose the magic but these videos that are actual recordings of someone using and importantly moving the dryer around that gives it that slight variation and authentic feeling compared to say a white noise generator. The day they invent silent hairdryers and vacuums I'm going to start stockpiling! For those of you looking for a more tailored experience I highly recommend mynoise.net as it has sliders so you can customise the frequencies exactly how you like them (I prefer a lower pitch rumbling over a higher pitched hiss). I tend to have mynoise and a video like this open at the same time and layer them for maximum effect.

I remember being 6 years old. Dad was out of town and I always got to sleep in the comfy big bed with my Mom. Lights were off with the door cracked as a nightlight in the hallway. Mom always took a late night shower and dryed her hair. Winter time outside-our house was off at the time with a sliding glass door in my parents bedroom so I could see the snow. I fell asleep so good those days. Now I find it every now and then and really touched it today when I was blow drying my dog after a bath with her wrapped around in a towel and me sitting on the bathroom floor with her in the corner comforting her and her comforting me. Also heard God and talked with him sum.

I was listening to this a few years ago while sitting in a car, the night was dark and rainy, yet beautiful. The car was parked at a beautiful spot near the baltic sea. If the rain wouldnt have been there, one could've heard the waves roll on the shores. We just had 2 weeks of best holiday in sweden and i was sitting there, listening to this, trying to sleep a little, waiting for the farry home. What a time.

When my mum was pregnant with me, I would kick when she used a hairdryer. After being born and learning to crawl I would crawl my way into her lap at the sound of a hairdryer. As a child I always loved the sound. Now I have grown up I find myself listening to this. I guess some thing just don't change 😂

Since there are no written studies on the science behind why white noise calms people (specifically a hairdryer). I just have the comments to figure out how most people feel while experiencing it. I can deduce that the chemicals our brain give off that gives us goosebumps (i.e. Dopamine and Serotonin), are emitted when our stress levels are the lowest. Studies show that it is a fact that humans have a primal sense to feel safest when around our family, primarily our mothers. Since a lot of north Americans have been raised in a middle class family, with household mothers that care for their children when they were young. Its a given that they would hear they’re mothers hairdryer every morning. So much so that they’re young and developing mind would tie this unique and bland sound to they’re mothers presence. So no matter where you are, or how old you are, your brain has been hard wired to believe that this sound is a sign of safety. Which will make your brain release Dopamine and give you goosebumps, slowing your heart rate down dramatically and warms your internal body temperature (or chills it). So don’t think your weird, because its just Psychology and Physiology.

A lifesaver when I don't have a real thing and little one cant fall asleep, tried a couple of others, but baby ignored them. Interesting, will he someday feel happy listening for the hardrier and not knowing why it feels cosy, as he can't remember this time :)

This reminds me of younger days when I was a kid and wasn't old enough to dry my own hair so my mom would dry it for me and I remember it being so relaxing and suiting.. And also reminds me of cold winters when I would lay in my warm bed and hear my mom vacuuming so I would just snuggle in that warm bed and get tingles on my neck it really is something! :)

I remember the moment when I woke up very early for school, in the cold season, and turned on the sound of the hair dryer. During this, my eyes were glued together and every minute was very special for me. If you catch a certain mood, you can turn on this sound on the bus, and all the hustle seems to be nothing to you, you all have a real lYubov to the Jews and the world.

I just wanted to share. I’m a mother of 4 month old twins whom recently went back to work. It is bedtime for the twins and my son will usually go down without an issue with our bedtime routine. My daughter however has been very fussy lately and is refusing to go to sleep. It has been over a hour. I’ve tried every trick I have learned between them and my oldest (6 years old) I was at my wits end. I wasn’t sure it was even true but I had heard that the noise of a blow dryer will help your baby to sleep. Well as I live and breath my baby girl is now content as can be. Best wishes to everyone.

I never thought so many other people would find the sound of hair dryers so relaxing! I thought it was just some weird thing about me! I think the reason I find it so raxing is because I associate the sound with warmth and comfort; I like to sit around using one as a heater in winter. Same reason I find the sound of electric fan heaters relaxing.
