Putting this Ryobi 40v Hedge trimmer RY40630 to the test it proves to be quite good. Having lots of other 40v tools helps and I am pleased with this hedge trimmer.

You need to put some lithium grease or penetrating oil on those blades. I can hear them binding from the friction. Spray them with lithium grease or penetrating oil and run them. I guarantee the blades will be quieter. You will get better and cleaner cuts and the blades wont dull out so fast. Spray them 2 -3 times during use. Dont use WD40 either as it cannot withstand heat and friction.

Will it work on the 18v pole saw ?🤔

I don't believe so the 18v are a weaker system. The "Expand-it" line is 40v. Basically anything operating on a stick from pole saw to hedgetrimmer to weedwhacker to snowpusher to rototiller can snap onto the pole with the battery here. He also just informed me there's a 3ft extension for the system.

As someone else pointed out, this is not Expand-it type attachments & nowhere in the Amazon link you provided does it say it's Expand-it or attachment capable. I have a 40V Ryobi brushless weed trimmer Model #RY40230 & approx. 6 Expand-it attachments. They are all driven with a 1/4" square drive shaft from the motor down at the battery attachment area, thru the extension tubes that have 1/4" square drive shafts that spin inside said tubes & they spin the Expand-it attachments connected to them on the end. You have a weed trimmer head that only holds the battery. The tubes on your weed trimmer are used to carry the electrical wires & electrical connectors. At the end of the tubes on your weed trimmer you can connect your weed trimmer or your hedge trimmer but they are NOT Expand-it type attachments. Also the motors on your set-up/weed trimmer are at the very end of the attachments on your set-up making them much heavier than the Expand-it attachments because on the Ryobi brushless weed trimmer Model #RY40230 the brushless motor is next to the battery on the handle end & your set-up/weed trimmer has brushed motors on the far end of the attachments that are way more Inefficient depleting the battery much faster also. When you're cutting branches on a ladder or roof using 2 to 3 extensions for longer reach those extra pounds make a huge difference with all that leverage on the end & you don't want to have to get down to get another charged battery either using inefficient brushed motors & also because I have a very bad back. I had a few Expand-it attachments I bought at HD 20yrs ago to use with my then 2-cycle gas Homelite weed trimmer I was using so buying the 40V Ryobi brushless weed trimmer Model #RY40230 was a very good way to save money. I also love not having to go get fresh fuel & messing with 2-stroke oil mixing, cleaning gummed up carbs, cleaning fuel tanks, buying fuel filters & air filters, buying & cleaning spark plugs, buying new fuel lines, pull starting the engine a million times & getting blisters & the damn thing still doesn't start, etc., etc., etc.. Plus I'm helping the environment by switching over to electric lawn & garden equipment. BTW those same Expand-it attachments I bought at Home Depot 20yrs ago were only $49.99 each for every single one of them, now they are at least twice as much or more in most cases...

cool review, but not the expand-it line. expand it has engine/motor on other end - this is a trimmer on a pole type setup - weight distro totally different
