Millennials and Gen Zs, like any adjacent generational pairings, have their similarities. They grew up and came of age at a similar time, experienced the same societal environments and, let's face it, have overlap in quite a lot of ways.
You might be thinking that because of this, you can target them both in the same ways... but hang fire a second.

I think that most early-mid or even late GenZers definitely recall a time of ads that weren't targeted on television. Every kid in 2008 saw the Shirley temple DVD ad and the Reese's Puff commercial lol. Also, those of us born before maybe 2008 or so did not have smartphones in our households;

They mean that when we were born into the world we had tv and they had just started coming out with laptops but they were super exspensive when they were out. Gen Z were born into a world where technology was developing greatly. So I remember having a tablet and playing on computers as a kid alot...

Being born in 1996 (technically the oldest Gen-Z?) I just can't relate to Gen-Z's at all. I only consider myself a millennial. I never even installed Tik Tok in my entire life.

I'm was born in 95. Millennials had traditionally ended in 1995. While other researchers state that 1996 is the cut-off (up for debate). I understand it's confusing for some because WE were born in the middle. I was in grade school when 9/11 happened and can vividly recall that day. I'm the oldest of 4, and all of my siblings were born in the 2000s. Every day I am reminded by my oldest sibling that I am an old head. I find myself seeking the younger generation for information about social media apps and technology that I have no idea about. My siblings always seem to know what's happening or going on in the world, for I do. I don't know about anyone else, but it's hard for me to keep up in our fast-paced society.

Thanks for this- when editing the video we realised that Patsy said millenials twice by accident - which is why we put an *Gen Z on the video to indicate that she meant to say Gen Z can handle up to 5 devices, whilst millennials can handle 2-3 concurrently. You can see this on the video at 1:15. Hope this clears up the confusion!

If you think about it, a lot of households were exposed to tech in the late 90s like 97-98 where computers were more affordable which means that you’re 95-96 kids would be been exposed to technology and the internet at the age of 2-3 and up before any formal education thus making them more relatable to a Gen Z. It just all depends on when they’ve been exposed to technology like surely if they’ve made it half way though their primary/elementary education without having their own computer, they’re more like a millennial.

you guys are zillennials.. millennials should be people who remember late 90s and millennium.. zillennials 93/94-99 had childhood without social media age/more internet and then in teen years got more into social media/more internet age. Millennials remember late 90s/early 2000's while zillennials remember more early 2000's/mid 2000's/late 2000's... gen z remembers 2010's

Born in 2001 so a gen Z and I used normal phone not smartphone initially for atleast 5-6 yrs. My internet at that time was super slow so cant relate to max of that part. Also I prefer text or Iam even fine talking them face to face if known if unknowns than I will stutter alot I cant even ask for extra sugar at a café. I also use more fb WhatsApp KZfaq and Pinterest than Instagram Snapchat or tiktok. I actually Never even downloaded tiktok. So i can relate to 50% millennials and 50% gen Z part😂

@@Rami358able I classify 1996 as the start of gen Z because it was the first full year of the internet being a world wide thing. Windows 95 didn't come until August of 1995 so I don't classify 1995 as generation Z. I was born March of 1995

I think this video got Gen Z wrong. Those traits are more like from Gen Alpha than Gen Z. Also the oldest Gen Z are already in their 20s not 16.

I work in Marketing and my team don't have the time nor patience to identify the difference between the two, so we just place both groups under the Millennial category. In my world, Gen Z's are merely Millennial Juniors and are not as important as their older counterparts. Seeing as the coronavirus has defined this decade, I believe the best way for marketers to save time and money is to just to ignore Gen Z's as a generation as they haven't shown any real outstanding differences that separates them from Millenials.

Millenials dont know the internet with rules. The internet was a free world. With endless possibilities. And we didn't pay for anything. Gen z sees the internet as an extension of the normal world. And they pay for everything possible. Untouchable stuff. They are less warriors on the internet. They are lazy to do effort on the internet. They choose the simple options and follow the flow. The influancers. The vlogs. The apps and games. While millenials like to find the hidden gems. To find cheaper solutions. To create own stuff that isnt a hype. We dont follow interner hypes. We try to stay anonymous and hide our real info. We dont completely trust the internet like gen z does.

Personally I think Anyone Born After 1994 is a Generation Zer though those Born in 95-97 are Probably on the Cusp. There is Also a Pretty Significant difference between Older Millennials (1990 & Older) and Younger Millennials.

@@Rami358able No, the most widely accepted definition used by sociologists is the following : Millenials 1980-1994 and Gen Z : 1995 - ... Someone born in 1996 or 1995 is definitely not a millenial it is because the Internet started to be commercialized in 1995 and the convention is that someone gen Z has always known a world in which the internet was commercialized. This is not a sufficient condition but a necessary one.

Honestly any cutoff date for generations is kind of arbitrary, and anyone on the cusp will have most in common with the people ~4 years older and younger. Lifestage milestones like starting school, graduating elementary, middle school, high school and college, marriying, having children, and retiring are all very important in a person’s development, especially when they’re younger and those milestones are a lot closer. So the older Gen Zers (~1995-98) who are are already out of college and entering the workforce might not relate to the Core Zers in their teens (2003-2008) even if they share some experiences in terms of technology or pop culture or have similar political values.

What we do know is the future is going to suck. Alexa, Cortana, Siri or google assist can not create creativity. We will no longer have new books, movies or story based video games. Gen Z is not innovative, they are dependent copycats who piggyback instead of create. The future is full of Pop music and TikTok. Yay! I will now go apologies to my children for bringing them into this world.
