Fab Morvan describes living in fear of getting caught in a lie. Fab and his friend Rob Pilatus, better known as Milli Vanilli, became the world's most popular pop duo in 1990. However, their ascension to fame came with a devastating price that ultimately led to their infamous undoing. Watch the feature-length documentary Milli Vanilli on October 24, exclusively on Paramount+.

What I find interesting about Rob is that even though he was the one of the two who talked the most in interviews and came across as the confident one, there was still a hint of insecurity in his eyes. The difference between Rob and Fab was that Fab expected Milli Vanilli to end one day, while Rob's ego got so big because the success was so huge and he was finally loved. When the scandal broke, Fab probably had it "easier" to deal with it because he was already prepared, Rob on the other hand was crushed by the humiliation and lived in a nightmare ever since.

Think you just hit the spot there. That's why I feel so bad about Rob. Once he got the chance to feel proud, he was sunk by the train of lies he never really should have bought a ticket to.

Yes, I think he was more childlike and naive than Fab due to his traumatic childhood (he always looked like a little boy to me with that round face and big sad, eyes)..Fab was much more grounded and realistic and probably had more family support...

Fab was willing to rebuild and come back even bringing Rob with him after it all. Rob never got over it. Couldn't get over it. Deep down he knew he'd never reach those heights again and people would always know them for the scandal and nothing else sadly.

Did anyone else feel like the press and the late night talk show hosts etc were told to attack Rob & Fab? It seemed like overkill, manufactured anger meant to divert the blame away from the rich, well-connected people who took advantage of them.

What’s sad is they didn’t have to be ruined by the scandal, they were just tragically the ones who got caught and brought it to light. The same thing happened with Boney M, they were lip syncing but their songs are still looked upon fondly. Getting caught in the act is what ruined it

Only two of the women got to sing on the records with Boney M, although all four members would sing live when given the chance.

Boney M had success but only in Europe (only "Rivers Of Babylon" was a hit in US) and were just part of the big disco wave (people loved more Boney M's songs than the band itself).

I was a little girl when they became famous. I first heard them on the radio and then when I saw a performance I remember thinking that they look like they are lip-syncing. I even told my parents that it looks like they are not the ones singing. I can't be the only one who thought that.

But, you know. Even the ones who performed on their own songs were lip syncing. And are still doing that today. That thing wasn't strange, unless you meant it was a live concert. You know Sandra was forced by Michael cretu to lip sync her own songs live. It wasn't that much of a deal. Unless, you never sung any of it. Like with boney m.

@@larswadefalk6423 True. But It was more than the lip syncing. They just didn't seem to fit. No other explanation really. Maybe just intuition.

He / They made a choice to lie and continue that lie until they got caught. Truth will out and there are always consequences when you lie and cheat the public.

Their were multiple liars in this case. It’s sad that they were thrown under the bus for the “lie”that someone else created and many others profited from.
