This is one of the channels that gave me the courage to start my KZfaq channel 8 months ago about self development. Now I have 1,212 subs and > 1,000 hours of watch time. I know it’s not comparable with others but I’m still proud I started because I’ve been learning so many lessons that I could haven’t learned without getting started in the 1st place.

Don't let big corporations like Forbes define what it is content creator. The people you mention have lots of resources to lift their careers up: photographer, social media manager, publicist, make up artists, graphic designers, marketing strategies, video editors, brand manager... and so on. You are the right person to define what a content creator is.

I like to think that content creators or "influencers" are those who are self-made e.g., those who rose to fame online without any extra help (so I would exclude actors, reality TV stars, and people who had extra help) and focus on people who made a brand individually. Millie thanks for this video! I love the stats and correlations, super interesting. I was thinking of similar videos but with less popular KZfaqrs. 100k, 500k, 1000000 subs KZfaqrs - what do these guys have in common? Styles? Videos? Or is it just about being consistent 😅 It would be great to see some success stories of someone less popular and who indeed is a content creator. Btw. I don’t think Hollywood/standup guys who came to social media are pure content creators. To me a content creator is the one who started as a blogger and grew from that.

Exactly! People often say, “oh it’s okay Oprah didn’t make it until she was whatever age” and other types of similar examples. One day I goggled Oprah’s story, and of course she didn’t magically just suddenly strike it and hit success or fame one day, there was years of work and consistency leading up to that success! I think people can easily use those examples of others later successes as excuses to not bother trying and put things off to some magical day when they’re older. However overcoming the challenges and hurdles that even allow someone to be able to show up consistently and create. There’s such a rich tapestry of important life experiences and lessons to be enjoyed and overcome, learnt and celebrated in that journey! Thanks for providing such wonderful and valuable entertainment and education with us!

I fully appreciate your intro addressing the nuance on some of the ‘outliers’. fully agree these larger profiles are being lumped into this, when they arent primary top CONTENT CREATORS because they dont primarily CREATE CONTENT for their fame. the Top List def has blurry edges, & I think Small businesses & Celebs & Musicians etc should yes have their own Top Lists - but here we are so WHY where they chosen? IMO its because their success is rooted in the level of INFLUENCE they/or their business have achieved in being culturally relevant.
