it’s actually not as difficult to play behind ur back ( ofcourse it’s difficult playing like him but yeah) your fretting hand doesnt really switch up or anything the difficult part might be consistently picking the right notes since you cant see your hand

My wife cried for a week when he died and gave our firstborn child 'Vaughan'. as his middle name. He picked up a guitar at the age of 14. By the age of 16 he was a damn good guitarist & in the school rock band. Now, at the age of 30, he is brilliant. We still tell him it is all because of the spirit in his name. And yes, he loves playing some of Stevies songs. After all he had been listening to them from when he was in the womb. So had the neighbours.

BB Kong said the thing about Stevie is that he keeps ghe conversation going where other players gave to pause and think of something else. Clapton has said Stevie was never at a loss for phrasings. Open channel. The music just spills out of him like a waterfall.

SRV stands as an eternal guitar god among guitar legends Millie....he was one with his instrument. So much respect for Stevie...stand in awe man. By the way, if someone else here has not shared, his last name is pronounced as VONN...Like the word ON just with a V in front of it. Great reaction!

One of the best guitarists of all time. Died before in 1990 in a helicopter crash at the age of 35. Texas Flood is a blues song first recorded by Larry Davis in 1958.Willie Nelson and Albert King recorded the song also, but Stevie Ray Vaughan had the most masterful and lasting version.

@@Tijuanabill Hendricks is probably the greatest innovator but certainly not the greatest player as he made many mistakes when he played I got introduced to Stevie as somebody who could play jimi better than Jimi and guess what it's true my guy if you don't like it too bad but it's true Jimi Hendrix was my Guitar Hero until I got introduced to Stevie Ray Vaughan I still play left-handed because of Jimi but I know he wasn't the best to ever play a guitar that would go to Stevie Ray Vaughan as far as I know sorry my guy

What Zen is to spirituality, "The Blues" is to music... It's not numbers, not keys, not scales, not technique... It simply is. When one is in the "zone," there are no mistakes in Blues. As a person that has played such in the past, I count the fingers on one hand, and still come up short, when I have got into this zone. That's what makes legends like SRV so incredible! Because, every time he picked up his Strat, he was already there!!! I got to see him live in '88, and it was epic--to say the least!

This came out when I was in my early college Years and I love it so much. I was lucky enough to see him three times before his early tragic death. A humble guy that was so talented. And double trouble is fantastic for him, they know each other so well and they're all contributing heavily.

My standard SRV reax vid comment: I was lucky enuf to see him in a small hall after he got clean. Ten minutes into the show, you feared for his life. 40 minutes in, you feared for yours. Utterly relentless force of nature, music oozed from his every cell. Just a complete tsunami, you could not breathe. RIP.

You should check out Jeff Healey, sadly we lost him in 2008. He was blind from the age of 3 and learned to play with guitar by putting it in his lap. He was discovered by SRV. And was in the movie Roadhouse with the rest of the band. You will be blown away when you hear this amazingly talented blind man.

IMO this is the best live performances I've ever seen of any genre! GOAT status secure. If you want another awesome live song try his duet with Johnny Copeland - Tin Pan Alley is the roughest place you've ever been....

Did you notice he reached up and tuned either the E or A string in the middle of the solo as well. About 7:30 on my timer. The dude was a major legend. He was originally inspired to play while watching his older brother Jimmie.

Probably tuned the E to D, aka "drop D" tuning.

In an interview with Jimmy, Jimmy said that Stevie was hard to play with because he never played a song the same way "once".

@@Tijuanabill Actually Stevie tuned his guitar to E flat he tuned the other strings down a half a step as well. He did that so he could bend the strings easier.He used the heaviest strings possible because of the tone. He also kept his action as high as possible because of the string gauge and tone. Supposedly never used drop D tuning and really did not need to. Our lead guitarist used to tune a lot during solo's he was used to the sound and knew instantly when out of tune. It takes real skill and time on the fretboard to do that.

Great reaction 👍! SRV is a legend in Texas where i'm from. Blues and shuffle are commonly played even to this day. But after awhile alot of guitarist branches out from playing minor and major pentatonic lead lines and they started to add flavor their rhythm and blues lead line like this guy ..

Yeah, he played past, and did crazy stuff, like bending on the first or second fret, play lightening fast hammer ons and pull-offs, and flying through crazy licks while playing a guitar strung with seriously heavy gauge strings that would make most mortals' fingers bleed (he played between 13 and 18 gauge strings- yes 18 gauge!). He got super fat tone, but I can't even imagine the time he put in just to get strong enough to play strings that heavy. He is a legend. The album bearing the same name as this song "Texas Flood" is a great one to buy to really get into SRV; it's amazing.

Thank you for loving SRV He really was the only one. I was lucky enough to see him live when he came to Tokyo. Been a devoted fan of his 40 plus years. Saw him 4 times live. This performance is my all time favorite. Each song he played had more superb guitar work than other bands had on a complete album. Not too shabby for someone that didnt read music. Eric Clapton had to stop watching him from backstage because he thought he would be too intimidated to be able to follow him onstage. Truly the greatest of all time!

Love your Channel, and your reaction. Stevie Ray Vaughan is my Favorite guitar hero. You need to check out his live version of " Look at little sister " and watch he breaks a string.....you were talking about checking out the Guitar heros, here is a short list of my all-time favorites after Stevie Ray Vaughan. Gary Moore, Rory Gallagher, B.B King, Alvin Lee, Roy Buchanan, Snowy White, Derek Trucks, Duane Allman, Freddie King, Slash, and Albert King, I can recommend a few great videos to watch also. I'm 61 and I started playing the guitar when I was 8. I've played in garage bands, touring bands and doing session work. I love to see someone as young as you who appreciate good guitar players.

Your next Stevie Ray Vaughan experience should be his performance with Jeff Healey (a great Canadian blind blues guitarist and singer) in "Look at Little Sister". You can tell from the video how much Stevie respects Jeff's playing which is saying something special. There are many great Blues guitar players, like Kenny Wayne Sheppard, Gary Moore and others, but SRV is the GOAT. Notice that Stevie's ayes are closed for most of this performance... he knew his way around a guitar, for sure. I saw him, Clapton and others the night of the helicopter crash, and I haven't had an inclination to another concert ever since.

It was incredible to see him live and I was lucky enough to see him before he died. It was an incredible show, John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band, Greg Allman, and Stevie Ray Vaughn and Double Trouble. It started raining at a outside venue and we were all worried that SRV wouldn't play. He came out on stage to check it out, kicked at the stage and a huge spray of water came off his kick. Heard him say, as he walked by a mic, Fuck it, let's rock this fucker! Crowd went insane!! They came out an just absolutely killed it!

LOL. The 80s were badass. Some of our most stressful decisions were: Iron Maiden is playing the Summit, and Judas Priest is playing the Colosseum on the same night! LOL! sometimes we'd watch the opening band for one show which might be Queensryche or Triumph and leave only to go elsewhere to watch the headliner like Van Halen or AC DC at another place. And yeah, tickets were like $12 - $14. You should check out "Stargazers" live from Rainbow with Ronnie James Dio. Please wear Depends when you do so.

The secret to SRV and Hendrix was months, if not years of practice, while on LSD. The guitar became a part of them. They would then do a bunch of coke before going on stage so they could increase their focus and speed.

the first time i saw him play, i put my guitar down for a year! i knew i could never compete with that talent. fortunately after a year or so, i realised it is ok to be second best to god! :) big love to all people :)

This was recorded in 1983 at the El Mocambo on Spadina Ave. in Toronto, Canada. This is the upstairs room which is quite small. It is known as the number one blue club in Toronto. I saw acts like Willy Dixon, Muddy Waters, Pinetop Perkins, Howlin' Wolf, and Hound Dog Taylor, etc. in the 1970s. FYI His name is pronounce Vawn, it rhymes with dawn.

There are those days in life, imprinted forever, burned into your memory, that you’ll never forget. Driving on 294 home from work and heard on the radio the legend was gone. 35 years old, an absolute tragedy for music, we lost one far too soon. His guitar was simply an extension of him, perhaps even directly connected to his soul. Music just flowed from him. One can only guess that somewhere up in heaven there’s one hell of a jam session going.
