Without a doubt, the million dollar man character is the greatest heel character that I’ve ever watched. When I reflect back I hated him so much and wanted him to get beat up every time he wrestled as a kid. As an adult I can appreciate that this guy did his job and did it to a very high standard. He had the look, the sound and the best bad guy laugh of all time. Thanks Ted. You were the man and being a heel, you were probably under appreciated.

I'm sure most people won't care much about it but my father did. It was Ted's rivalry with The Ultimate Warrior where my father started watching WWF for the first time (he used to watch only WCW until that point due to it being more about real wrestling than childish WWE things). And boy did Dibease impressed my father , Ted really was a great heel and my father has told me multiple times how much he was liked and disliked at the same time, much like Edge 2006 or Seth Rollins 2015.

He should've been long term heel champion. I know wwf during that time was a face champion territory. Backlund, hogan, and savage were all faces. But imagine if ted kept the belt after wm4 and the face challengers that would've stepped up during that time. Ted could've been the answer to flair. He could work, he could talk, he could really make the fans hate him, all good qualities for drawing money. Not to mention all the henchmen he can hire to slow the faces down: andre, dino, hercules, rick rude. Once they got to ted, he was like the final boss. You can defeat him, but it wouldn't be easy b/c his wrestling ability was top notch. Don't think it would've hurt hulk or savage's merch sales.

The story I've always heard about why Ted Dibiase didn't win the tournament at WrestleMania IV was that that was the original plan, but they decided to have Savage win it instead, because the Honky Tonk Man didn't want to drop the Intercontintental title to him. Pretty good consolation prize, I guess!
