Approaching retirement, Owen and Ellie began their immense project of building a home to spend the rest of their lives. They carefully picked a property in the middle of rural country farmlands, with a half-mile driveway, in a staggering 30-acre lot of land. The house was designed to have a contrast of both modern and retro touches to it, but most importantly, to represent their love for each other, shown by the heart-shaped pond that Owen carefully constructed in the front yard. As a doctor for profession, he was always on the move, with Ellie accompanying him on his every step, and there was never a time when it wasn't certain that they belonged together. However, during a yearly doctor's visit in 2006, a devastating cancer diagnosis was presented to Owen, already in its later stages. Nothing changed from then on though, and he and Ellie continued to cherish every minute they had together until Owen passed only a year later. From then on, Ellie was all alone, and with the combination of debt and heartbreak, she could not keep up with the mortgage payments or repairs of the home until it was eventually foreclosed in 2020.
