I learn so much from watching these videos. I learn everything you own and possibly hold dear to your heart while on earth - means nothing to other people even your own family.

The lesson I got from these abandoned castles is not to accumulate too much stuff. I am guilty of it myself, for many years I was collecting “cute” stuff decors/plates etc. As I got older and wiser with my hard earned money, I realized it takes even more time and energy to take care and store all of them. My goal is to purge stuff that I won’t need. I just buy practical, functional things that are worthy of my time and money. Still, it’s interesting to see what people treasured during their times. It is sad that this place is falling apart and vandalized. Hopefully, the family can agree on what to do asap before it’s too late and beyond repair.

This makes me very sad. I am related to most of the royal British families and nobles, I also I am related to both Belgian and French royalty and nobility. But as you see all that you have showed us money and a castle doesn't bring happiness. And his ancestors disrespecting his home and his memory. It is a horrible ! I am 98 yrs old and it is just a shame. These Castles of Europe should be cared for. It is our past!

I have never understood leaving the pictures behind. At 3 my mother said I use to cry over photo books of people I never knew and even she didn't know. I m now 75 and my mother died 12 yrs ago at 100. I still treasure my family photographs. Thank you for great videos.!

It’s so sad the things families do to each other. They’re fighting in the courts over all these things all the while it’s being destroyed by vandalism and Mother Nature in the end they lose.

it’s truly sad that this castle and it’s decades of items collected are left to ruins all because the children could not be civil & come to an agreement, yet the parents had all this to leave to their kids who have no respect for their air looms , i thinks it’s awesome how you the video creator had more respect for the house and it’s content more then the children ever did, sad this happen but it happens often,every where in the world. thank you for showing this, i would be in awww just at its existence how beautiful it is and the story it now tells of its history .

It breaks my heart that vandals for no reason whatsoever felt a need to destroy what does not belong to them. You did a great job with this video. I just found you a few months ago and I have to catch up.

That 'cigarette holder with the many many holes' It's actually meant to put water in, then put cut flowers into each of the holes, with the stems cut short, to make a rectangle bouquet for the table.

What is sad is a family who only sees the monetary value in the property's contents and not their families historic value. Especially considering many of the items are memories of their own childhood and their parents. This is why so much of our history is lost over the years. Because greedy descendants cannot agree on how to preserve what is left and are only worried about what they can gain out of it.

The ceramic 'cigarette holder' is not for cigarettes. It is called a Flower Brick and traditionally came from Holland in the form of Delft Ware, it is basically a vase and the holes are for holding flowers.

So many antiques! Beautiful paintings! And all the family photos! So freaking sad! So while they are fighting about things, vandalism is going on. And destroying everything. So many cool things in there. I could probably spend weeks just sitting there looking through everything. And family photos I love going through. I've noticed in your explorations, that the families of the people who owned those fabulous homes, leave behind the most important things of all, they're family photos!! I think that the rich and famous people are spoiled rotten, and they don't consider memories of they're family photographs important! Us, poor people, would risk our lives and rush into a burning house, to save our family photos. A house can be rebuilt, money can be remade, but a photograph is something that you can never go back in time and capture again. If I were in those homes, I would take every photo and pictures that I would find, before part of the past rots away, with the time.

I hate vandals.Why they would do something so disrespectful is crazy to me.Love the fact that you guys aren't that way.Keep bring us new adventures and as always, love you too.

This was an awesome explore, so sad to see where others came in and destroyed things of others, others with no respect for what others have worked long (many,many yearshard for. The cigarette holder is actually a flower bud vase! you put individual blossoms in each hole!

That fireplace screen resembles the screens used in southern colonial America . I was told on a tour of an old plantation the screens were used to prevent the wax based makeup from melting.

I notice a lot of structures get labeled as a "castle" when they're really a mansion or palace. I don't mean to split hairs, I just usually think of castles built in the medieval period used for fortification and protection from attack. In any case this building is incredible as is your documentation of it, absolutely stunning! Keep up with the good work! Thanks for sharing.

First I want to say "YOU" are beautiful inside and out! Such an old soul!! There are not many men that could walk in your shoes and less Young men!! You are a blessing! With that being said I have a question WHY WOULD ANYONE with that much money not have a will!! It would have spared their children from through what they are and saved that gorgeous homestead!!!

Hey Brothers. Always love your videos. Just wanted to comment on a couple of things in the house. One is the blue and white container you called a cigarette holder, it is actually a flower vase. For which kind of flowers I'm unsure but it is to hold flowers. Usually vases such as this were made for a particular flower based on the size of the holes. Some people like to see their flowers standing like soldiers, some would also call it a flower frog. Where frog comes from I don't know. Most frogs are free from the vase and you put it in the vase before the water and flowers. Maybe it's called a frog from it being in the water and most always they are green. Frogs are to hold flowers in position. Ok enough of that. I think the two presses you were looking at in an upstairs bedroom window are flower presses. You would put down a few layers of absorbent type paper then lay flowers in the position you want, put more paper on top and then press them. You could then add more paper, flowers and paper again to press. The flowers need to spend a certain amount of time in the press before you remove them so you could just keep adding layers until it was full. There's a little more to it but that's the basics. My last note would be that there were so many bedrooms and all those beds for when the family gathered together and all the children, cousins, nieces, nephews and of course parents would all have places to rest their heard. I doubt very much that it was a full time, every day situation where that many people lived there. Like you said-there's only two bathrooms for that many people. Your friend told you slightly wrong about the warming pan, yes hot colas were put in it but not for warming feet, the long handle on it was so a person or servant could pass it between the sheets to warm up a cold bed in the winter so that there wasn't the shock of getting into a cold bed, it was not left on or in the bed.

What a nice castle. I sure hope the children can straighten things out in time to save it. Some very interesting history and family history also. Great explore! Take care and blessings!

The veteran shown in the photo at time 15:18sec is heavily decorated. If wearing full sized medals he would have his entire chest covered with, it looks like 20 medals and the jeweled badge on the left is an insignia of a royal order. This gentleman is a giant of a war hero.

The bed warmer, which hot coals were put into, was not left at the end of the bed. Rather the bed warming pan, was passed all over the sheets under the blankets to warm them up and then removed just prior to entering the bed for a more comfortable night's sleep. Edit: The wallpaper in the dining room appeared to be the same that was used on the Titanic. It is a very special wallpaper that was designed to look like leather which has been indented and specially colored for its amazing beauty. It can still be made (factory in England?) but was very expensive then and even more so now.

Can you imagine going through,packing,labeling and moving every item in that mansion? Absolutely beautiful. The wood work,the vaulted wooden ceilings and all those antique wooden pieces of furniture simply magnificent. I restore antiques so I could spend days there! Thank you for this journey!

What I can't understand is why people would break into such a beautiful treasure and destroy it with axes. That just disgusts and angers me this is such a beautiful treasure and such a treasured piece of history that I hope those people get what they deserve.

amazing tour of this home. It's sad to see family members fight over who gets the home. I always tell people make sure you leave a will and testament behind. You can call a lawyer and he will set everything up for you for a few hundred dollars. And tell your family what to do with your things in case you pass away. The best advice I could give you. the saddest thing are the personal effects like photographs. It's always good to document all your photographs with the people's names on them. Always keep track of your family tree. you can put them on computer and make a KZfaq video about your family members. And all their names and when they were born and when they passed away.

The thing with the long hair that you were wondering about is actually a tool that was used to prevent flies from flying around your head, mainly used by wealthy English in places like India and Africa.

It's sad that all the memories are lost and left behind. I'm too sentimental. I've been left with endless photos and momentos from my family. I cherish them to the end! I actually have the ship manifest from when my great grandfather came to the United States from Belgium at age 2. I have my grandfather's draft card from WWII. when he came home through NY city, he bought a ring for my grandmother. I have that receipt! Thank God I have this to pass down to my children. Thank you for being thoughtful and respectful of what you find.

I loved seeing all the copper utensils. The foot warmer was especially interesting. I do hope the family can come to some joint decision soon before the castle comes to ruin. Such an interesting history that it was used for a hospital during war times.
