Thank ya kindly! I love my K98 as well, but as more of a WWI nut than WWII the Gew98 is what really does it for me 👍🏻

For me it started when I was 18 and wanted a cheap old gun so I bought a mosin covered in cosmoline and cleaned and refinished it. From there it became about trying to find historic guns that I can restore/bring back to life as well as finding military surplus guns to add to the collection

The Mosin is absolutely the gateway drug of milsurp collecting

Just starting. Right now, it's what I can get for a decent price for the quality. I collect anything from 1886 to modern. I really enjoy working on them and shooting them, that special connection you get with something over a hundred years old. I like the oddities also. The firearms that were passed through many different countries.

The weird stuff and the “world travelers” definitely hold an interest for me as well, the more obscure the better. Thanks for watching!

You have earned it! Like you said, as you collect it evolves. I like the milsurps, went after the early cartridge guns: gras, berdan, martini-henry, kropatschek, beaumont, swiss vetterli and 71/84 mauser. I also went after the swiss milsurps in general - have them all through the K31 and a few of the revolvers. It gets tricky with the old stuff- I put out some funds for dies and bullet moulds. It is fun to make them talk! If you got in to casting bullets, you could easily reload for your carcanos and shoot them for much less expensively - and get better accuracy with a properly sized bullet. Best wishes.

Reloading is definitely something I intend on getting into at some point, just haven’t made the time to do it yet. Thanks for watching!

Congrats! I’m all about the history, especially WW1. The collection sometimes take turns you don’t expect. I just got an 1899 Krag Carbine which I never thought I would be interested in and now the unexpected Spanish American War sub collection is born!

Personal interest started with, and still remains with classic AK’s, built on the Soviet Pattern, manufactured within the Warsaw Pact nations. However my interest has expanded to to American service rifles (primarily) and handguns from the WW1 and WW2 era with a slight extension to German analogs from the same time frame. The draw has always been the history coupled with the pure enjoyment of shooting them thus making history come alive especially when all the correct accessories and associated gear for each weapon have been acquired as well.

Nice vid! I started out with a Japanese focus, but kinda spiraled out into anything 1860s-1960s haha. This hobby is getting crazy expensive. One of the most important things for me though is shootability/function though, even if it means finding/making obsolete ammo. As for your videos, I do enjoy hearing how you feel when you shoot various stuff, ergonomics, recoil etc.

Thank ya kindly! And yeah I’ve had issues with getting priced out of a few things lately, I’m afraid it’ll be a richs mans hobby before long lol. I can see myself expanding into the 1860s before long, there is a lot of Civil War stuff I’ve had my eye on

I just started my collection. I turned 21 in early March and already got my c&r license! 😎 I have a 1953 Tula SKS and a 1916 DWM Luger P08. No focus at the moment but I think I'd like to get a Czech gun next.

I started like most folks, just got whatever I could get for under $400. Eventually started for fall in love with Mausers and started getting into Imperial German rifles, and eventually Polish Mausers to celebrate my family history. Unfortunately those Polish rifles are few and far between and EXPENSIVE, but it really helps me to focus my collection. I’ve definitely sold off several rifles to help pay off others I have picked up.

There definitely seem to be cycles I go through, like buy three and eventually sell two of those three to fund one other one that I find more interesting

Going well Thomas! Nothing you haven't worked hard to achive. My collection started becaus eI grew up somwhere that had been Occupied by the NAZIS, so the bunkers were my playground. I learn't to shoot on many ex military firearms. My current Collection, is based around my Two 3/4 ton Dodges, a WC51 and a WC 54. so the ambulance , medical kit, the WC51 was used by the British, so the equipment that goes with her, is British. For the shooting, as UK has more restricive ownership rules, I have ended up with an intrest in .22 British military training rifles. Though I have the P14, and a SMLE No1 is on the wish list. Pistols? Oh don't even go there.
@GreatNorthwestWeaponry

I’ve always found the training rifles very interesting (especially considering how rare they can be) I just haven’t gone for one yet, I’m sure it’ll happen someday. Thanks for watching!
