Very informative - thanks! This wheel lock looks good enough for my needs, as I live on a ground floor flat, and my car is parked just outside my front door. That kind of noise would wake up the entire apartment block.

@Stan Milov Yes, I did. It doesn't look exactly the same though - the lock mechanism on the one I bought is integrated in to the lock (i.e. it doesn't stick out like the one in this video). Works really well, it's easy enough to attach and take off (and it's coated in plastic, so it doesn't scratch my hubs).

You can cut it off with a portable torch in about 30 seconds. If you pop the tire doing so you just drive a few blocks away, pop on the spare and off you go. Car thieves aren't concerned about wrecking one of your rims.

I believe the link below is the one my brother had told me about a couple of months ago. A person backed into a driveway of a home in a cul-de-sac, next to a Jeep, on a Saturday morning around 7:30. They slipped out of their vehicle, and climbed under and cut the catalytic converter off, climbed back into their vehicle, and drove away. It took just under 2 mins. Everyone was home, most had some kind of doorbell camera or another type of camera, everyone thought another neighbor must have been running a power tool. My point is, even in this vid, it's not hard, and those who steel aren't really deterred by most locks. Most would only put this kind of lock on their trailer wheel and think that would be enough of a deterrent. The their would normally have a similar tire/wheel, some type if jack, take off the lugnuts, put their tire on, just well enough to get down the street, then tighten the lugnuts and drive away. Sadly, you put more security devices on what you are trying to protect, they will just destroy more trying to take it. Maybe I'm just paranoid but I have two Trimax wheel locks, chains for both tires on each side that wrap around the leaf springs, coupler lock and a lock for the coupler latch. Joe Bissol said it best. Theft deterrent is as good as you are going to get. If someone really wants my trailer, I'm going to make them work for it.

I have done About the same like you said if it’s not quick then they will usually leave it alone. I have cameras if they get past all my locks and I still did not wake up to all the camera alerts and dogs did not bark then they got one over one me lol at least I can say I tried all I could lol.

I am a 4' 11' inch 70 year old woman and even I know to use a sledge or at least a 2 lb hammer to hit that lock after you ground it part way. LOL Good to see that it took so long for the grinder to get that far. Let's hope Milwaukee doesn't come out with an M24 hydraulic shear.

The trailer was locked and backed against a brick wall. The trailer has several sledge hammers 🔨 and all types of tools. But unfortunately I couldn't get to those tools.

I remember back in like 2008 9 and 10 over in Northern Detroit suburbs around Royal Oak Troy and that there was a bunch of theft where they were stealing enclosed trailers that were locked to the truck and Chained and everything and us guys were working on one side of an industrial building it was a crew of Thieves cutting a lock off and taking your whole enclosed trailer while you were working with your equipment in it

I’m 17 and I’m looking into eventually starting a business in landscaping. I have a couple questions. Did you ever work with someone and follow in their footsteps in order to create an understanding or did you just shoot your shot and start it from scratch with little experience? Should i further my education into college? If so what majors and what should my education be focused on? My son's neighbor had a contractor working next door and someone stole his contractor trailer. They cut through the claw part with a grinder. The neighbors across the street said that they were only there for a few minutes. I hate thieving A-holes!

@@keith-kalfas I was thinking they used a saws all. I have used the carbide blades to cut through shingles and big spikes to take off an addition and those blades are incredible.

I have a question and i would like to get the community's opinion recently had a catholic converter stolen the vehicle has inbuilt immobiliser but not a tilt sensor. Once the new catalytic converter is installed will get a tilt alarm and cat lock. Also want to get a couple of wheel immobilisers and possibly something in between with steel cable running through to prevent Thieves from trying to get under the vehicle. Does anyone have any recommendations? Ie spikes Recently installed Drive PIR lights and cctv. What other deterrents do you recommend?

I think anything that will deter a thief is a good line of defense. Kind of like having an ADT Security sign in your front yard. They did a study on that and it was proven that houses that have those little ADT yard signs were less likely to be broken into. And that’s because thieves ARE lazy. That’s why they’re thieves.

A crowbar opens these locks in less than 15 seconds. I think a thief would be able to run a grinder twice as good as you and not beat on it with wooden handles. Painful to watch your inefficiency 😵‍💫

To get through what you have there its one second with bokt cutter in your cable, then you use jem bar between ture steel and the the red pinch if the wheel lock you bend against the steel wheel the red oinch bends and the locks falls if this takes aound 25 seconds.

Thank you. I was wondering about how resistant it was. The thef would cut that in 1mn using a biger disk and no guard. he can then break of the rest 30 sec Using a hammer or a lever. You did good.

Next time, please try a hammer and liquid nitrogen(available at your friendly local 7 ELEVEn) Circular saw is just too loud, not "civilized". But, if you are in a hurry, please use a reciprocating saw, I'd prefer a Dewart brand one.

I think if you have more than two wheel locks it will be more than enough time to either hear or someone see slmeyhing to deter the theifs if the trailers parked in reaidential

😭 I'm rapidly reaching the conclusion that securing the trailer to the ground (somehow) is the best option. Buried barrel of cement and hardened bike chain? I'll need to think about it. Ironically, I need a thief to tell me what makes it hard for them! 😆

@@davidjames2145 I feel like you have to apply all methods to make it inconvenient so the thief will reconsider, I am going to place an anchor in the ground below where I park my equipment, etc, i'm going to have a D ring basically below grade in my driveway to attach a chain or cable to go around the frame or axles of parked equipment...unsuspected point of security measure.

You should've checked yt first, the weakest part of those clamps is marked to you. Just cut on the red/yellow line, don't even need to go through the arm, just cut rib (angle) and bend arm back. Less than a minute, max.

Most thief’s are lazy, 2 locks on a trailer would in my opinion be enough for them to look for an easier target. Some basic common sense and defense serves most people well from the common thief. Most businesses main thief’s are their own employees.

Ugh, that was painful to watch. Sawzall and metal cutting blade. If noise isn't an issue. Otherwise small portable metal cutting torch... a lot quieter.

Next time use a big hammer to hit the boot. You can't get enough force with a chainsaw multi tool, or the handle from a loping shears.

If you watch the video, you will hear him say that he BROKE THE KEY OFF in the lock. A spare key would not have helped him in this situation.

dude your seriously unskilled in using one of those grinders with a cut off wheel. it would have taken me 30-45 seconds. yeah anti theft devices fail quickly with that tool. but the noise and sparks are like setting off an alarm the whole time your cutting.

goodness thats a lot of noise. i feel these arent suppose to stop thieves just make them put in a lot of effort and noise to get the car which in turn gives u enough time to intervene. best thing is them seeing it and saying 'oh no thanks' ima buy two of these suckers

A thieve can just use a jack and unbolt the wheel. Place their own trailer tires. Now days thieve take their time. My neighbor next door home renovation employees secure the trailer for three weeks. Thieves study what they need during those three weeks. Next day stole it in plain daylight quick. I reviewed my cameras i said, "wtf 😮😧😩😱😯😕😶"

The hammer was locked inside my trailer backed against a brick wall with 6 locks on it. It would've taken 10 minutes to move the trucks around unlocks the couplers and wheel locks... then pull the trainer forward... unlock the doors ..then go inside just to get the hammer. Haha. Besides... I truly thought the Milwaukee grinder would cut through the lock in less than 30 seconds with Zero hammer required.
