This is a cool idea for steel fish tapes. I wonder though it it’s strong enough to push through the though bends where you would usually sit there jamming it back and forth real fast till it finally pushes through, using a wrench to grip it or spinning the tape around to get it to push through. Or if you would still need to utilize those tricks with that tool and since it’s so big how much of a pain in the ass would that be. As a low voltage guy though it got me thinking that it might be kind of useful as a mini handheld tugger. Like if you could get an empty drum that you tie your jetline or mule tape to and then you pull your cable with it. Your arms get tired when you’re pulling several cables upwards of 300’ through a cable bundle. The jetline could just wind up inside of it and when it’s full you just go empty it and get back to work.

00:00:26 No Vince, I “don’t know” what ya mean; could you PLEASE explain it to me🤣😉 The “tape” pulling CMUs w/ Vince on it, was impressive, & we always benefit from new tech/tools when companies want to compete w/ one another. Milwaukee setting the bar high, & others are trying to catch up. Loving the “competition”, as we all win (DeWalt refreshing 12v line for example....which will keep Milwaukee on their toes w/ their m12 line😉)..... Thx for the Vid Vince; & Nick for the edit! @@kingofthecrease30 batteries are expensive and ideally all of them fit in all of my tools, so it makes sense to go all in on a single line with quality tools like makita has. However, in cases like this where there's an attractive niche offering it's worth considering partial investment into another brands lineup.

I remember when the Internet first came out. You had cheesy 56k . if you wanted some high speed you had run network cable to each computer through a hub and from the hub to a modem a dsl modem to be exact. I got a 100 foot spool and some fishing wire and ran it down beside the stink pipe from the attic to the basement. The cable got stuck about 10 ft short and I was pulling on this thing with all my weight hanging upside-down with my feet on the cieling and it snapped. I was about 18 I guess. It hurt, but I was funny as hell. Every time I see these wire fishers I think of that. I would have done horrible things to my house if I had this thing when I was a kid!! Nice video!!

I like it but at that price point I do not see it as a cost effective purchase- A 1/8"x 240' snake is 30-40 bucks and lasts a long time and can be cut into multiple snakes - just don't see this taking off!

It's for people pulling tape all day, every day. $1000 is not very much if you're doing it all day every day.
@xenonram
@xenonram 4 жыл бұрын
And you're about 2-3 times off on your price. Someone who is doing enough fish tape pulling to justify looking into one of these, isn't going to pick the crappiest tape on the market. A 240 foot Milwaukee manual steel tape reel is about $80. And you can get other name brand ones for $80-90. The Milwaukee tool only electric fish tape is $360+ $120 for the tape reel, So if you already have batteries, it's not very expensive.
@patwregan
@patwregan 4 жыл бұрын
@@xenonram at 4 minutes 59 seconds the price is right on the screen- yes could be cheaper if you already have m18 gear and do not need more batteries- still a novelty item and pricey at that- I guess I get better deals than you on snakes and I usually buy ideal snakes

Pft you don't pull much wire then. Traps, shoulders and arms will scream after an 8 hour day of wire pulls that your boss calculated to use the smallest sized conduit he could get away with. Not to mention the fish tape tangling itself into a 6' diameter ball unless you stop pulling and retract it every few pulls and that severely cuts down on production time. Can't forget to mention your lower back setting the tape down and picking it up every 2 mins. Hopefully they come down in price because right now it's ridiculously expensive and no one seems to even have them in stock. The 10 ton knockout kit is another great tool that once you have one you couldn't live without it.
