Both vids were great to watch, I don't do a lot of electrical stuff, but mentioning and showing you can use the automatics for stripping the outer sheathing was a good tip. 👍Thanks!

What a great communtiy you have. Ive never saw anyone hold it up on the left for tension. The wires with the clear are always the most difficult. Im gonna try it on those types from now on. I also have the jakari flat cable strippers that knipex has a rebrand of (12 64 180) that are awesome when working in junction boxes. They accomplish all the same things but have better clearance because they strip from the end. And they seem stronger when stripping the sheathing further from the end. My kleins have now moved to thermostat and hvac wiring for me. Love the videos!

Appreciate the tips.. I have actually been wanting those Knipex to try, Ben waiting for the price to drop. Will look into the Jakari 👍

@@MORGANSMaintenance Jokari, yet another German company, makes mostly wire strippers. You need to remember that although their products will work on the US market, they are designed specifically to European standards. For example our Romex-like cables do not have that paper interlayer. From my experience, after trying all types of wire and cable strippers one the market, those self adjusting work best. Some more classical strippers, i.e. using blades do not dull that fast (I still have aperture/slit wire strippers like those 194A.17VE that lasted 8 or 9 years). Self adjusting strippers will work well for about a year, than you need to buy a new one.

@@MORGANSMaintenance with jokari they have multiple versions that are slightly different. So double check what range of sizes they strip before you pull the trigger.

Now imagine how happy Mr Morgan's clients must be with such a quality, speed and amount od feedback he gives. It's so niece that our comments help to make this chanel even better. I was wondering if it could strip the wires through the paper as well.
@MORGANSMaintenance
@MORGANSMaintenance 6 ай бұрын
It is hit/miss with the paper. Its pretty slick so the teeth don't grip well. Sometimes it takes two tries, one squeeze gets the paper, then another to strip. That's even with holding the wire up for leverage.

If they work with your type of wire & fit in the spot you are using them they are a good option. No worries about damaging conductors.

You don’t need up tension you just need to keep that tension on the clamping side so that the stripping side doesn’t pull the cable along with the jacket

Maybe true. I have a feeling if you were dealing with a shorter wire, that was secured in a box… it will work better than using my hand to hold it. But it’s a good trick to keep that tension on longer wires 👍👍

The blue kleins will do thermostat and single cat 5/6 wires for data cables without a problem. Part of keeping these in the bag is so I can use my knipex instalation pliers (14g and 12g) and ditch the forged strippers for small jobs. The automatic do the 16/18g flushmount stranded wire so I save space. Alls they need to do now is make the instalation pliers with a spring and lock like the European metric version for us in the states
