Rather than a pressure switch, I wish they had gone with a centrifugal switch that would turn them on when the props spin. Regardless, I have a modest order of them coming my way. Thanks JB!

Wouldn’t it go dark when you have throttle decel? Interesting concept.
@markdickson2150
@markdickson2150 3 жыл бұрын
@@kultbotcustomshop3849 I would imagine, unless you have the Motor Stop setting enabled for some silly reason, that even at idle the props would still be spinning fast enough to trigger a micro switch. Perhaps there is a chance for a prop or two to black out during direction changes, but it would likely be almost imperceptible to the human eye.

I thought we'd finally get to find out what their pitch is & how they actually fly... Whether they're only good for looking good )which they do) or if they're actually a decent flying prop or not. Wouldn' t be useful to me for anything I fly, but sure would be worth it for keeping in mind for when they eventually release a 7inch version! ;) Which brings me to another point- sure would like to see a bit of 7inch content occasionally, please?

I did this a long time ago back when tricopters were a thing. The way I did it was put 405 nm UV leds on the top of the arms facing up towards the bottom of the props. Then I painted the bottom of the props with fluorescent paint. It worked really well, but you are limited to the colors of paints available.

You're giving me a great idea! I'm thinking of getting some UV Blacklight Reactive UV Tape and cutting small dots (hole puncher?) and sticking those on top and bottom of some clear props. I would then mount maybe 3 Ultra Bright UV led diodes right under each prop on top of the arms. If it worked I think it would be cheap and effective. Did you have any trouble getting the paint to stick to the props? I'm finding lots of acrylic paint available. Maybe just a light sanding first?

I went and ordered the V1 as soon as I saw your livestream with Blunty discussing their release. Love them! I only have 3 complaints with the V1: 1) They are a pain to assemble (compared to normal props of course) 2) The LED was white and the only little bit of color comes from the pattern of frosting on the prop, which was barely visible in flight 3) Once they are on I had a tough time getting a couple of them to turn off again. I would get it to shut off and any little nudge would make it turn back on. It seems that they have solved 2 of those issues, so thanks Gemfan for quickly revising the weak points! Now, I need to see if I can buy just the new PCBs instead of buying all new props.

hi, since i saw the video from rotor riot of leds on props i got an idea which i think its the best aproach, but i dont have the resources to test that out. So the idea consists on painting the props whith uv reactive paint , so you can put an uv led on the arm and it will shine (not a lot, but inside an hangar or somwhere without direct sunlight should be visible)

Just to share a tip after I tried my first set. Try not to use the bottom grooved prop nut, and don't over tighten the nut. The groove turned the prop cover, and that tore the thin PCB film. And somehow the red props is not as bright as the green props. But other than that, awesome set of props especially for night time LOS flying. Just did a session under the full moon and got some nice time lapse photos. LOS video and onboard camera too.

Nice to see some sort of follow-up on these. I'm considering trying them. Looks like a tedious mess, and was wondering how much good flight time you get out of them before you have to mess with them again, and wondering how long the red vs the blue vs the green last and all of that.

That's a common thing with red LEDs. They're not as bright as other colors. It has to do with how the human eye works, as red LEDs should technically be brighter than any other color.

Now they need to take this idea, and talk with a specific motor company thatll colab with them to make a motor shaft that is specially designed to have an inner conductive core, a barrier and an outer conductive core that all isolates from contact with the bell and motor windings. With an idea like that you can have a pdb under the motor that doesnt contact the frame and can have +, -, and a signal wire run to the flight controller(for on off functions via switch) or perhaps an esc or directly to the motor wires for linear brightness with throttle like race wire LEDs do. No need for batteries in the prop hub. This motor shaft can easily be compared to the gyro brakes cable system on a bmx bike for a visual idea to what I mean.

Hey quick PID tuning question. 5", 4s, 2206 motors, BLHeli-S, no RPM filtering yet, BF4.1, not highest quality parts. Stock pids and I get bad bounceback and propwash handling. Used the sliders to increase the master slider a little, the P/D balance, and and P/D gain (Mostly P/D gain I think). With that I got a lot of the bounceback and propwash, but when I did a punch out and cut the throttle, my Yaw would twist.

How long til we can get our props turning into a display that can display a design as it rotates?

This is an over engineered way to light up props! I've been shaking my heard for months (but I've enjoyed watching the videos on how not to do this). This method is the best "result" I've seen yet BUT.... batteries are not cheap, the install is a pain, and the $$$ for batts in the future is a pain. I have the answer! and I've been doing it for years. Clear props with any color leds on the frame arm facing up under the prop (on top of the esc if your old school like me). The result is a mid day full sun quad that you can see while your chasing it and at the golden hours or night...its perfect. All powered off the fc, programable if you want, no fuss. Gets about 75-80% of the result. If u used their "special" striped props, its probably closer to 90%. Huh, I broke a prop...don't lose those batteries! I don't have any spares...
