That was a really neat idea to start a project. Honestly - most ideas nowadays are just mutations of other ideas we've seen before. Love how that turned out in the end. Fits the bathroom really well!

Awesome project! I could see using this to come up with a concept sketch much quicker than I do now. I feel like I waste a ton of time trying to take broad based concepts and making them into furniture that is proportional and good looking.

I've been kicking around the idea of adding a benchtop bandsaw with a 1/4" blade to my shop, and just keeping a resaw blade on my 14" bandsaw. I think you just convinced me.

Awesome job! I'm a software dev and I think approaches like this are what will make AI useful. The AI didn't have the context to to magically create exactly what you wanted, or even something fully functional. The back-and-forth of generating options and focusing terms really gave some control over the creative process. Then, translating the image to a real thing let you put your spin on the final piece. We need to use AI as a super-power to help us be better, but still keep our human fingerprints in the mix.

This was interesting! I like the idea, and I feel like it could definately help with the research / inspiration phase. I don't do a lot of woodworking, but sometime I make my own stuff. I think it's extremely satisfying to make your own design. I'm currently making speaker stands for the speakers I made. It's coming together nicely. They are in the same style and same veneer / paint combination. They are quite litteraly made for eachother. That's where I assume this AI would miss the mark although I have not used it so can't say for certain. But I'm assuming it can't take the considerations of how it would work in the room or work with existing furniture etc. Thats why I think it would still be mostly for inspiration, similar to how you did it I guess with scaling it. Nicely made!

The final design had elements that I would never consider doing. The curved pocket where the upright attaches to the base is beyond my feeble mind. The slope on the base is another element that I would not have created. Overall the towel rack is very organic and one of a kind with a refreshing look out of the box.

Love the towel holder! I’ve used the same search technique to find a close approximation of a bookcase I want to build. After that, I fleshed it out on paper. I’m excited to start building it. As for A I and being afraid of it…yes, a little but I’m not sure why. We’ve all been using forms of it for years.

Excellent video showing how you made a concept real.... It's your design -- you input the criteria for the AI to render, then you interpreted what the AI rendered. Wish I lived near Kencraft.... Ordering wood just isn't the same as choosing it yourself.

If you had to do this over would you consider cutting the tapered swoop first on the square stock using your bandsaw? I’m imagining doing this by making a cut similar to a resaw just curved instead of straight with your table tilted. Then you could cut the circle.

Beautiful! But how stable/steady is it? It seems like it would move around a lot while using the towel. I'd be inclined to hollow out some spaces in the base and place some steel or lead weights just to give it some stabilizing mass in the bottom. Also, would a trim router have been useful to rough in some of that final shaping of the vertical piece before smoothing it with sandpaper? It seems like that would have been a lot faster. Maybe not as organic a finished look as you were going for, though?

So I’m going from a traditional shop with messy floors and clutter to a studio style shop like yours. Would you suggest multiple vacs so I can keep the duct to a minimum or what? I love how clean and tighty your shop is I know you clean for the camera but is it impossible to have a semi dust free shop?

Love it 👍 I'm not s woodworker and would never make this 😉 but these kind of videos are really fun to watch! In regards to the AI, as a designer myself, I see it as a great sketching tool but I also appreciate that there will be alot of ethical and other discussions to be had around the topic. Also I can totally get that some graphical illustrators and people making stock images, might be worried by these technologies. If you haven't, check out the KZfaq artist Jazza and his explorations of AI, very interesting stuff.

I really enjoyed this video. If you are looking for a follow up, I have a suggestion. I went out to the site you mentioned and created an account. It wasn't immediately obvious to me how to use the AI to create images. I would really appreciate it if you could walk us through how to get the it up and running. I don't need a super detailed how to instruction. I want to make something for our kitchen table that holds the condiments we use and napkins. Not sure of the design and I could see AI being a fun project to generate ideas. Many thanks.
