Yusei Matsui is the mangaka on everybody’s mind. Author of the wildly popular Assassination Classroom, Matsui has created one of the best-loved, and bestselling, manga in both Japan and the U.S. in recent years. An action-packed comedy in which middle school misfits face off against their smiley-faced alien teacher, Assassination Classroom has been a consistent New York Times bestseller, and was adapted into a popular anime series and hit live-action film. Matsui joins us at Japan Society for an intimate conversation in conjunction with New York Comic Con, a rare opportunity to see the manga master in person. Assassination Classroom is one of my all time favourites. To hear Matsui-Sensei talk about it, really brings a whole other perspective on it.

Speaking of live-action Hollywood films adapted from Manga, the movie Edge of Tomorrow released about 2 years ago was also adapted from the Manga All You Need Is Kill.

Kaminari Jaf ...there's a Koro Sensei Quest series just like Naruto SD series where they r all potrayed in a smaller version of themselves...check it out,it's fun...it's a story of them joining this magic school n koro sensei is the head wizard who becomes their sensei 😊😊😊😊

As an aspiring translator, I'd like to know what you note down when Sensei is speaking. It would be difficult to write down whole sentences to remember, so what do you write?

Avison Charm consecutive interpreting is all about short term memory, so what is noted is different from person to person. I write down key words to concepts that are reminders. I also write down numbers and names since those are a pain to remember on top of everything that's being said. But sometimes, my handwriting has been too messy and I can't read my own notes too lol

Avison Charm I either cut them off (prior to a panel, we do discuss that they shouldn't be talking too long so they forget), or keep on taking notes and doing the best I can!
