A small detail that I like a lot (but which is in the continuation of the scene) is that the camera only follows Holden. Debbie will bend down to grab something but the camera will stay on Holden because right now all that matters is him and his investigation. I just wish a season 3 of this masterpiece

This is so funny because when you work with Fincher every slight movement is choreographed and the takes have to be 100% perfect or Fincher will make them shoot again. So, this is on purpose. They want to send a message. Holden only cares about the case and whatever else he does is not as important

Just check how the lights on the ceiling and Holden's movements are completely in sync, directing your eye toward him. God, this show's directing and cinematography are orgasmic.

THIRD SEASON FUCKING PLEAAAAAAASEEEEEEEEEEEE

I've been going to the same damn shop that has the things in the same damn place for years and I could not do this.

BRILLIANT SCENE. HERES WHY: Its a long comment. Lol. It is their routine. He knows where things are . Thats why he does not search. She does not pause much either. The scene is to establish them as a typical couple who frequents the store. He grabs a packet of flour/sugar, 2 pizzas with a cut fruit box likely pineapple, a Jar of some sauce may be and a meat box. They are preparing for pizza. Until you hear them they look like normal committed couple. But they are different from people checking labels in there . what they talk about is hardly normal. They talk about crime casually. It is the contrast of mundane and unusual. Now Holden is moving a lot in this scene may be this is the only scene (besides the cross episode) he does that. He hardly moves even when with Debbie. But here he is in control. His idea worked at workplace. He is talking about it , grabbing things , moving without even paying attention. His attention is on the topic. Debbie is invested too. She does not look around for products. But there is little eye contact . She gets disgusted, she critics him using specific words like : STAGED, DIRECTOR. Holden catches that notice his tone when he says ' I Guess '. She does not praise or congratulate him for catching a killer like a regular girlfriend. She is tired to listen to his career all the time. When she studies , dinner, coffee ..like all the time.. ED kemper once says 'its un becoming' to Holden when he brags about his girlfriend . Sharing his experiences to seek validation from others is Holden's baseline and now its coming in to play in his romantic relationship too. Here his character arc actually reached a new level but it is causing a slow strain in the relationship. Now, the sound effects. The throwing of things sets a tone of aggression. We all got a little annoyed did'nt we? The end of the video when he says guilt, he throws the jar . That sound highlights the dialouge almost like a background music. That sound lands the word guilt. He is confident, his mind is still in the interrogation room, he knows what they will be cooking so he is just going through motions while expecting his girlfriend to be impressed. Its a layered scene. Holden's character development, the case, his career and his relationship. All in less than a minute.

What's impressive is how he is prepared about his shopping without a list he just picks up things and puts it in the cart If I was there I would stand for 1 minute for 1 thing to know what I actually needed

*Not a soul shops like this* . You pick up the item. You flip it to look at the back. You wonder why you flipped it to look at the back - you don’t really care what you putting in your body. You either put it in the trolley or put it back on the shelf. Then go to the other side of the store. Rinse and Repeat.
