Pacific rim uprising could have been better if they work with the story of the first movie and did something for a backstory between the first movie and 2034 in the story. Something that's explains why obsidian fury shows up, what's happened that made people make they're own jeagers and work on the scrapper story line, it must have been more to it than little helper on the field.

I love the fact the universe went from First contact to MK1 Jaeger within a 18 months...In reality Governments around the world wouldnt have finished defining what to call themselves within 18 months!

The pacific rim universe has soo much potential, but damn did uprising fumbled the bag, thank goodness there's pacific rim the black, there's a chance for this universe to become known again.

in reality we would put as many energy weapons around that breach as possible and melt anything that came through. But if they did that we wouldn't have a movie.

Everyone likes to talk about how the Jaeger's don't feel heavy enough in this movie, but I think one of the other main reasons why this movie is horrible is because it's too light hearted. This movie would've been so much better if it went for a darker tone like the first movie. It feels like frigin Power Rangers up in here. We save the day by killing the giant monster, sure we lose a couple things here and there, and then boom... end of story. Contrary to that, in the first Pacific Rim, everything is at stake. The first intro scene is an epic battle where Gipsy Danger gets beaten up to shreds, showing how vulnerable humanity is. One of the reasons why everyone cared about Cherno Alpha and Crimson Typhoon's deaths in the first movie is because we knew who those jaeger's were. They were iconic Jaegers with multiple kills and each one of them represented each country. But in Pacific Rim, the jaegers are presented as just plain old tools. They have no real background or history to them, and we never learn anything about them. No Jaeger is designated for one country or another, giving no sense of representation. That is the exact reason why no one cared when the Jaegers in Pacific Rim 2 died, but we cared so much when the Jaegers in Pacific Rim 1 died. I think it would've been better if there were more stakes at risk in Uprising. The movie is called Uprising, isn't it? This is supposed to be the uprising of the Kaiju's. What if, for example, the Kaiju's actually won the whole battle and earth went into an apocalypse? Then, for a third movie, humanity rises up again and kills the Kaiji's again once and for all. Yeah that might've sounded a bit cliche there, but it would make for a really good trilogy if done correctly. But, beggars can't be choosers... GUILLERMO DEL TORO PLEASE COME BACK!!!! Also if you made it this far into my rant then I salute you!

Not sure if most people know this, but before the mission in Tokyo against Onibaba the co-pilot of Coyote Tango, Tamsin Sevier went unconscious forcing Stacker Pentecost to pilot the Jaeger solo throughout the rest of the mission.

I'd be interested in seeing the materials accessed to create this report. According to the narration in the movie, before Gypsy was destroyed the Jaegers were taking down kaiju left and right (remember him saying the pilots became rockstars and showing people laughing and joking on TV with them because they were so dominant?). Also Stryker had many kills as did the Russian team, but there doesn't seem to be enough room left in the timeline to account for that.

The year 2020 was a dark year for Jaegers... I wonder why?

This is what was wrong with that movie (well, one of the biggest things). None of this was explained so everyone immediately thought the movie was silly for us deciding to use giant robots. But if the only way we could stop them was a nuke for every kaiju (ruining large areas of the Earth for decades or more), suddenly giant robots that could fight them (and win) seems much more logical....and the movie becomes much better.
