I'd love a mechanic where it's biome-based like the actual frogs, only in this situation the criteria is if the frog is in a jungle or not. If it spawns/is hatched from eggs in a jungle, then it's poisonous and has an arrow mechanic where you can click on it with arrows and it'll give you poison tips, effectively making them a means of getting those tipped arrows without having to randomly luck out on Fletcher trades or killing the Ender Dragon. The hard part is making frog spawn eggs for dart frogs overall because their tadpoles tend to be in water pools collected by jungle leaves. Also, obviously, you can't touch the jungle frogs without taking poison damage. You have to attach a lead and take whatever risks with transporting them if you need them elsewhere. For non poisonous frogs you can just collect eggs and transport those. Of course they don't count towards a hostile mob cap. If the frog hatches or is bred outside a jungle, then it isn't poisonous. Then you just...have a pretty mob hanging around you can have as a pet, maybe they have cool sound effects too but the visual appeal is good already. And of course you can't tell the frogs apart visually and let's make frogs immune to poison themselves. So...a good prank would be dragging a frog from the jungle into your friend's frog collection so they have no idea which one is poisoning them.

I actually really love the idea of this. I can see an achievement where if you name one of the fallen poison dart frogs Weather Report you get an achievement called Bizarre Rain or something like that.

Different pattern/colour frogs have different effects. For example, the blue and green ones have poison, red has instant harming (oof), striped has levitation, and purple has wither (or nausea), and a special golden frog has the glow effect and slowness 10... AKA paralysis in a jungle full of predators. To handle/weapons them, you need a leather or Phantom membrane glove to handle without poisoning. This also includes throwing... and because they're frogs, thrown frogs stick to people similar to worn frogs or parrots.

suggestion for a future mod: give all blocks ambient noises that match their regular noises, so a grindstone will occasionally make a grinding sound, or a door will occasionally make open and close sound (at random intervals) (all ambient noises are based of player view meaning a block cannot make a ambient noise IF it is within the player's view)

love how the poison dart frogs look. really hoped they'd make something like that in the game. in fact the poison dart frogs are SO colorful, I think their froglights should be LED/Jeb_lights.

one of the neat(read, *deadly*) things about poison dart frogs is that it is a contact poison, so what if you could harvest the poison and apply it to surfaces, so they'd apply their effects whenever someone walks over or tries to break it? Of course, this would involve the titular darts, and since poison dart frogs vary in terms of effects and deadliness, maybe you could get different types of poison by feeding it different foods? Like maybe one could give you paralysis(achieved by applying a high level of both speed and slowness), one could give poison(which would also be the default), one would act more like instant damage... maybe even positive effects too? You could decide what(or who?) you'd have to feed it to get the effects >:3

I have some ideas for the poisonous frogs, the frogs could hold onto the side of trees and be able to climb up vines, also maybe they can jump from tree to tree if said two trees are close enough and onto vines to then climb them. With also being able to hold on underneath Leaf blocks and climb up and over them, just to make it harder to acquire them for their poison. These are some poison ideas I had, one of the poisons can temporary paralyze a player or mob, they could even like fall over or just get frozen in motion for like 15 sec’s, a way to counter spamming would be like you hit once they get paralyzed for 15 seconds and then if you hit again within 10 seconds then it’s like the target only has 10 seconds of being paralyzed as to waiting and then firing again and getting the full 15 sec’s. Another poison could for only players that throws off aim like a player‘s trying to hit a block but they hit the block next to them instead, also camera wise a player can be facing one way and moving in that direction but their actual avatar is moving in a completely different direction and on top of all that their vision is all trippy and they go through random highs and lows of the effect which can make the miss aiming and miss stepping either worse or not to bad. Another poison could make people hear things or think they hear things like mob sounds, weather sounds, strange ambient noises, block sounds, I was thinking specifically Someone’s hearing Enderman is Agro on them but there is none even around but it’s slightly distorted to give that trippy feel or for blocks like sand or gravel falling but like sped up just a tad.

Oh. I know this is meant to be shenanigans but if the dart frogs could actually climb around in trees and actually jump around and navigate the jungle that’d be very interesting. I know I’m supposed to say something silly like tHe FRoGs eXPlodE whEn they EaT a CreePer!?!.!.1 but I think just seeing them skitter around and climb would be cute

A bit unrelated. But i've been imagining some kind of weather mod where the thaumcraft essences are actually separate and they create weather based on how much is released to the world. Basically the element of attack or swords would make literally a weather where swords rain. Or the gold one where everything turns into blocks of gold. Idk.

Perhaps add a rare pitch black variant of Poison Dart Frogs that only spawn in the Nether, turn arrows into tipped Wither arrows, and effect you with Wither 5 instead of Poison 5

Heyo doctor4t and everyone^^ its the useless introvert here^^, im writing all of this at 4:26 AM and i havent slept since i think around Friday morning, so sorry if my rambling is hard to follow, i dont really have much confidence in my ideas, but it would mean a lot to me if you could go through my ideas and tell me what you think.^^ Even if youre too busy, I understand, content creation is very hard and im sure stressful too, but anyways, thank you for making such amazing content^^ Suggestion for the poison dart frogs: make the name make sense, aka make them throwable like darts. Or make it so that they are projectiles that bows and crossbows can use, maybe with a crossbow you could load them like fireworks! However, this should only be meant to be used as an early game substitute for dragon breath, and not a replacement, so instead of getting 4 tipped arrows per lingering potion you get one tipped arrow for each potion you use on the frog (I was reading through the comments after I finished typing my ideas, and i saw the bottom of my own comment and started panicking that i thought i somehow had the same idea as someone else so i was panicking a bit for a good 10-15 seconds^^; classic me
