I just want everyone to shut up about the Deep Dark portal... It doesn't matter if its a portal or not, Mojang shouldn't be thinking about making any new dimensions when there's so much work to be done with the dimensions we already have. The End is _right there!_

@@thecrispyacorn I don't know about the lore implications, but it'd be nice to have an end portal that you can both enter and exit, instead of being tossed back at the world spawnpoint. Again it seems kind of irrelevant to what the ancient cities are all about, but that's the best idea I can think of off the top of my head.

In response to the person questioning if Ibxtiycat is being paid by mojang, I'd say that he is simply a reasonable person, someone who tries to understand the circumstances and motivations behind Mojang's actions rather than prematurely judging them under bad faith bias That maturity and level-headedness are something I really appreciate about his content

The problem with this is that Mojang has been making so many bad decisions in the last couple of years that it’s come to a point where it no longer seems like there’s any good faith in their decisions, and so it just seems like Toycat is grasping at straws whenever he defends Mojang.

@@thegeostormgd9830 "Mojang has been making so many bad decisions recently!" ie: had to redesign two codebases to allow for the new generation , thus the caves and cliffs split; bundles do not function on some devices to a degree that Mojang is satisfied publishing, thus bundles are delayed; caves and cliffs was already too much, thus the Warden and Deep Dark was delayed (BUT came with the unexpected Ancient City); fireflies and the birch forest... yeah I agree with you on that one; the mob vote, its an engaging community event that draws eyes to the game, even if some players are unhappy which is inevitable and unavoidable; Mojang added new chat safety features to Java edition, which mind you have not had the overreaching problems people thought it would, to increase online safety. I honestly fail to see the "so many" bad decisions Mojang has been making. Maybe a couple here or there. Normal for a developer group to have hitches, especially when attached to a PR and corporation. And don't even get me started on the whole "modders can do so much more than Mojang" argument.

I have a hunch that mojangs great idea for the fletching table is....using it to make different arrow types, but slightly better than you can now. (I actually think they just forgot it doesn't do anything, and now it's too late to admit it)

Yes, move them to special trial chambers that are made with flying space- the spawner would have blue concrete and bone blocks to signify phantoms! A good way to remove the annoyances from the base game.

The least they can do with phantoms is to make them spawn if the player sleeps for 4-5 nights in a row,so the player will be more motivated to not sleep and fight mobs

genuinely dont understand the minecraft community at all, everyone was so upset that the mods that are exclusive to marketplace maps cannot be brought to other worlds and now that we have that ability yall are still angry, it appears the community cannot be pleased in my eyes

TLDR: I doubt it. The only reason the ominous potion is stackable is because the bottle breaks after you drink it. Apparently Mojang can't figure out how to make an item that's full, like a bottle or bucket, suddenly be emptied by drinking or pouring and enter your inventory without it being a one-for-one swap (full-item > empty item). MORE: Like, if you have a full inventory, including a stack of potions, then you drink a potion but there isn't an open inventory slot for an empty bottle, I feel like the easy answer is just force the player to drop the empty bottle. It should work similar to filling empty bottles with water works, just backwards... you have a stack of empty bottles, you fill one, (add the step) if the same full item exist in the inventory, stack it. If the same full item does not exist in the inventory, it goes to the next open inventory slot. If the same empty item doesn't exist in the inventory AND an open slot doesn't exist, drop the empty item. I'm not sure why that's difficult.

The entrance to the trial chamber is exposed so you would be likely to see it from inside a cave. Because of the way the terrain generates it would be nearly impossible to make sure the chamber always generates with the door exposed to a cave, but in the cases where it does the door is where you're supposed to tunnel through rather than breaking into a wall or something.

I'm rather hoping that as part of the one of the final changes they make to the trial chambers is that they tie the spawning of it to caves, so the door is always exposed.

@@D_Cragoon That would be nice, but even that doesn't work with geodes 100% of the time. It can still generate exposed to an air pocket that doesn't connect to a larger cave.

Regarding Deep Dark frame - how about we make it into an enchanting device instead of a portal? It's not supposed to be walkable by design, and Ancient Cities have obscenely well enchanted gear and books - maybe we could have renewable Enchanted Golden Apples if we are allowed to turn this back online?

11:23 I assume the reason it ISN'T labeled this way is because the name "Heavy Mace" suggests that there is some kind of regular or light mace that also exists. The specificity that the mace is heavy is only necessary when more than 1 mace exists. Similarly, it would be weird if the opposite was true, like every different type of sword was just called Sword instead of [Material] Sword.

@@jafarmurtaja1482 I mean, this is just how names work LOL. You can see it in basically anything. The first entry of a series is never [Title] 1 unless they already know there's going to be a second part. In naming something, that name is going to be inherent to every trait it has. By adding an extra descriptor to it, it suggests that it has all of the features of the parent idea, except with something changed about it. You might also have both of the names add that describing word prefix, but in this case it's usually because both were thought of/found at the same time. The exception to this is usually titles that start with "The". Like if you had "The great [whatever]" it technically doesn't imply theres a not great whatever. You can actually see some of these conventions in actual Minecraft, for instance a carrot isn't called a not-golden carrot, and a potato isn't a not-poisonous potato.

@@toycat touché. I think this is because Core is a common English word, and blocks like the nether reactor core already exist (albeit obscure). If it had it's own name it would potentially just be called that, but since core isn't specific enough to get the idea across it is necessary to specify that the core is heavy. I assume this is also why the Blaze rod is called a blaze rod, because just rod doesn't on its own imply it is hot. Items that use simple English words and do not have additional describing words (ie the stick or conduit) are specific enough that you would reasonably understand what it is from the name without it having to be Wooden sticks or something silly like that. Now, if they added multiple stick types, then it would probably be renamed like what happened to the Turtle Scute (previously just called the scute).

Toycat, I'm quite confused on how trial spawners work, but here is my understanding; The spawners can be activated whenever, as long as the cooldown is up. (Which can then result to infinite keys?) However, you can only use one key per vault per player. Similarly, each spawner can be ominous spawners only once (pr can they be ominous multiple times as long as you have the bad omen?). And the vaults can also only be open once per player. If that is correct, you are not able to reroll your loot infinitely for a heavy core, is that correct?

Trial spawners can be made ominous infinitely, but the ominous vaults can only be opened once per player. The only theoretical workaround is that the vaults begins 'forgetting' players after 128 players have opened it, but that's obviously too insane a number to be practical.

I think in the next update, Mochan should take inspiration from a lot of the terraria features like the sky islands were there are structures on clouds, and they add a new type of block which is cloud blocks where they are transparent enough where you can’t see the cloud blocks themselves from far away, but the closer you get the more opaque they become, and on top, they could add specialized loot and new mobs surrounding the sky as well Like mobs that are similar to wyverns or a new variant of the phantom that is friendly, because with the whole island idea, there is so many possibilities alone with that idea itself. Something else that they could add is the expansion of the dungeons system in the game, I know that the trial chambers are similar to dungeons, but they could overhaul the dungeons that are already in the game that have the mop spawners, but they could make those have branching areas that have different loot rooms and different spawning areas. Each dungeon is unique, depending on where it is located by what biome it is in how high it is or how low it is. They have the first spawner you find me an infinitely spawning spawner, and then the rest break after one or or two uses. As a whole, I think that the developers for Minecraft really should focus on adding lot of the features that modders make for the game itself but in a way, where it doesn’t rip off the original creators work, they just put their own twist to it or get permission from the creator.

The only reason I can anyone wanting to make a stair case to the enterance, or even returning to a trial, is if the plan on making a mob farm out of the place. It would be a pretty crappy mob farm seeing as how the spawners can only spawn a certain number of mobs and then have to cool down before activating again.

I think being heavy is kinda inherent property for blunt weapons. You won't call a dagger "sharp dagger" if it is crafted from sharp piece of something, because, you know, daggers are usually sharp. And maces are usualy heavy.

Impulse said decked out doesnt work on the bedrock release. And a heavy object going to make another object doesnt necessarily make it a heavy version if that object. When it creates the new object it is then classified under that objects class, and msy not be, as related to maces in this example, heavy enough to warrant the 'heavy' tag. Were it a sword, perhaps itd be enough etc etc.

I'm assuming the late adds to the updates are probably projects that weren't completed by deadlines but were shortly completed afterwards, and squeaked in just in time before the final release of the update.

I'm so upset that we haven't gotten any of the combat snapshot features in this update despite it being announced as the combat and tinkering update. Ulraf hyping up one of the snapshots on Twitter really made me think that something from those tests would be coming to the game. It's been known that he took over the combat snapshots from Jeb like 3-4 years ago so to find out he was hyping up the mace which "he designed in 2 days because he had a dream about it being in Minecraft" so it got priority was really disappointing. Don't get me wrong, I like the mace, but it feels like Mojang often has an issue with their priorities. They'll get excited about a new idea and put all of their effort into it while leaving other features neglected. Honestly what I want most from a combat update is to at least fix the health regeneration so playing on anything other than peaceful on Bedrock isn't slow and tedious. Those snapshots changed the health regeneration to be faster and removed the saturation bonus healing. Now you heal overall quicker and saturation only determines how long it takes before you begin to lose hunger after eating. It feels like whenever I try to play survival I will have to heal by standing still for 2 minutes and health regeneration stops after you lose only 2 points of hunger so you have to constantly keep eating just to get the slow regeneration speed. The combat snapshots also made it so you heal all the way until your hunger is nearly empty.

@@EmperorPenguin1217 In the stream on this channel Ulraf said that he rushed to program the mace in 2 days after having a dream it was in the game. Can't be sure how much of this was a joke, but I could believe that some details about the time it took to work on would be real.

Yeah another sort of example of that was when they first revealed archelogy, and a bunch of people got more excited about the possibility of (non slab) half blocks than the feature itself, cos the animation of dusting sort of showed that. Yeah you can say those people were jumping the gun a bit, but it also maybe showed that Mojang were so into their feature that they didn't stop to think about how some of it would look to some people who had been wanting a particular something for a while. I am a little worried that I am doing something similar to what those players did by hoping that the ui changes Mojang have been making recently will eventually include allowing actual pausing for single player Bedrock.

@@D_Cragoon I don't personally think pausing on Bedrock will ever become a feature, but I also don't have an issue with it working the way it does now. I'd say the slab thing with archeology was just an assumption made by the community. These combat snapshots I'm referring to were planned features that would be added to the game that stopped development around the time 1.16 was going into development. So far I agree with every change they've made and really would just like them to be added already.

Hey toycat first off love the videos. At the time of posting Minecraft posted a suspicious video a week ago that makes me think we're not only getting a end update in the next update, but they might be connecting the deep dark and the end. If this happens imagine a deep dark biome in the end. Maybe the dragon guards something you have to use on the deep dark portal.

The ominous bottle adds so much potential for endgame content and boss’s for example: an ominous Ender Dragon, or Ominous anciant city that accesses the portal for more deep dark monsters

About the one-chunk Bedrock series; the most interesting one I watched (and let’s just say I’ve watched many) had a new, randomized layer available to mine every day for 100 days, culminating in an end portal. However, you could definitely expand that to 200 days, and it would still be fun! The excitement is in never knowing what the next layer will be… sand? Blue glazed terracotta? Diamond blocks? Hay bales? 😯

Personally I think they could make it so when you're in the sculk area the sculk Blocks lead a path with glowing sparkles in the sculk blocks to an ancient city because it would make it more easy to find one but it wouldn't be game breaking because it would only activate if your 100/200 blocks away or they could do what they did with the minesafts where if your above it a sound would happen . I would like to know your thoughts on this!

I feel like whatever the next update is, it better be big because while a lot of people have already been getting tired of mojang, people who have been sitting tight throughout the last year or so will probably get agitated. Wether it’s another overhaul update or something entirely new, I think it needs to be big.

Are we even sure Decked Out would work properly on Bedrock Edition? It relied heavily on a lot of java-exclusive data pack and resource pack mechanics.

No. Decked out would not work at all. Even though it is playable without resource packs and datapacks, there's the redstone issue. Many things would break and not work at all.

On the ominous effect for raids. I believe the original way to trigger raids by killing a pillager captain was fitting. It presented a player a great 'cause and effect' encounter where the pillagers would retaliate by attacking a village the player happens to visit because they despised villagers and the offending player. They could have kept the original mechanic and have the ominous potion be an alternative to getting bad omen. Especially when considering the lore as you showed with a user's comment. Why would pillagers get angry at a player for drinking an ominous potion? And how would they be expected to magically know where the raid had the player not encountered nor killed any pillagers prior? (I know it is more likely the player would have fought and killed pillagers by that stage. But the point still stands as the killing if a pillager is not required for the potion to magically trigger raids) The ominous effect could have a different application tbh. Perhaps it could attract pillagers to the trail chambers. Or the outposts with this ominous effect could have triggered more intense combat encounters with the player.

Ominous effect was made as a way to counter afk raid farms so now they are much more manual and require a lot more effort to run

It's less of them getting angry, it's more of that bad omen is very visible magically, and while in chambers it is noticed by spawners and makes them go overdrive, in villages it allows the illagers to pinpoint where they should raid for maximum hurt

try out this seed on chunkbase: -5592633653095784779 has cherry grove inside a mountain ring, with ancient city and trial chamber underneath, large jungle, flower forest, warm ocean, mushroom island with trial chamber underneath, and desert (both the trial chambers are not there on bedrock) also has sculk at y=94 in a crack in the cherry grove mountain ring please put this in seed sunday!

Still love to see another tree and wood type, each update should at least give us one or two new wood and tree types tbh, something for the community to enjoy, also maybe a new farmable plant, last time we had one was when beetroot came out, we need something like corn, barley, rice, rhubarb, cabbage, broccoli, turnip, parsnips, lettuce and what not tbh, tomatoes or whatever we can think of tbh, maybe a culnery table for an easy way to make food and such, so yeah

I agree with the Heavy Mace name idea. Calling it just a mace would make the weapon seem underwhelming for those who have not heard of it before. The heavy part also plays well into the mechanic it has when you deal more damage the further you fall. A simple mace mught be able to do thar. But a Heavy Mace looks and sounds more than capable of doing the job. Most weapons in the game has simple names like swords, bows, tridents, etc. And most weapons are relatively easy to come by. Even though the name for a trident is simple. The word is related to Greek mythology and thus serves the weapon well as an aquatic weapon with the potential to have powerful enchantments like riptide, channeling, and loyalty.

@@andresfurious8302 understandable. I use leather armor when I'm in snowy biomes, because you won't freeze or sink down into the snow when you wear leather. I always have some in a chest outside my base, just in case I'm heading to a snowy location.

Why do I have a feeling that 2024 for Minecraft will have 2 major updates instead of 1? The last time we had it was with 2021 for 1.17 and 1.18. I feel like the features we got for 1.21 is small enough to the point that it wouldn't feel out of place if 1.22 was to release in November this year. Like the only thing about significant in this update is Trial Chambers, no new biome - nothing. It feels like it mirrors the 1.15 Buzzy Bees Update where the only thing significant was BEES! I feel like 1.21 is like that. If the 15th Year Anniversary announcement was the announcement of 1.22 releasing late 2024, everyone would (pun intended) generate LOTS of buzz! 🐝 Oh the release date for 1.21 - I believe that we will get it in May this year to coincide with the celebration. A few of my new favourite games like Fortnite and Fall Guys are all getting HUGE updates in late May. One so huge that you can make UEFN maps with Fall Guys assets... oh and Mobile for Fall Guys. Out of the many months to keep an eye out for in 2024 for gaming - May and October are the two to keep a note of on your calendar.

I’m still not convinced Minecraft needs a deep dark dimension. ~IDEA VOMIT IN PROGRESS~ If they make a new dimention it needs to be a small sub dimention. Perhaps an all skulk, tuff, deepslate and granite world with small caves threaded throughout them with no mobs except the warden, and it should feel really claustraphobic. The point of going could be to get the powefull enchanting table that on of the replys segests. You could find different parts to it in little underground cabins scattered about. The dimention could be ore-rich, or maybe not, idk which would be better Maybe it could be ore-rich but hard to light up (like light sources aren't as bright as they should be), and darkness deals damage to you :O That would be so cool Then when the warden spawned the darkness affect would deal damage! And mineing should be just a little slower. And there could be giant amathyst veins K i've convinced myself We need a deep dark biome

I found a deep dark generating up to 84 in the overworld, so deep dark has the potential to be taller than the nether. Imo just keep the deep dark its own overworld biome and make the ancient city portal something totally different If they added a new dimension that was all just deep dark I would be very disappointed tbh it feels like such missed potential, a whole new dimension just to add something we already have

@@Not_So_Average I think it'd be better to have player work around its detection mechanic and have to lure it to a certain spot rather than grind it like every single other hostile mob; to be fair, it isn't even this hard to grind - the warden can't dig or fly, and drowns, withers away on roses, takes fall damage and is struck by arrows like every other mob; it's just slow due to its gigantic health pool. It could be made interesting if the warden first had to be led to a randomly generated point in a city to infuse it with status effect, then had to be led in front of the central statue with said status effect to be sacrificed into enchantments - that way, the enchanted apples, swift sneak and similar goods could be renewably obtained without need for massive resource intake, but also require careful handwork instead of brute-forcing or automating the entire thing. The process COULD be optimised, however, by making the city more walkable and splashing the warden with potion of swiftness.

they should make a alternate recipe for crafting dispensers. they are so annoying and you still wont be able to automate it with the crafter because skeletons drop damaged bows.

@@K1NGB Nah, it's just the matter of chaining crafters Though to be fair, now that you mention it, even without respective farms and just a stockpile of sticks, string, redstone and cobblestone it'd be handy to make a setup of two crafter blocks with some chests, hoppers and circuitry to mass assemble dispensers for the player Like, the same way people make automatic smelters, as a periodic utility machine Throw in 3 stacks of stick, 3 of string, 7 of cobble, 1 of RSdust, turn it on, go AFK for 3 minutes, return to see a stack of dispensers
