The aperture blades only effect the bokeh at high yet apertures, wide open ever lens makes perfect circle bokeh

There is rare Zenitar-ME1 50/1.7 with 2 apt blades that goes to square bokeh. This was the kit lens for first soviet autometic-expo film camera Zenit-18. Maybe the sharpest 50mm soviet lens.

Hey! Don't go buy another lens! You can do this with a piece of cardboard over the lens, in any shape. Or cut one from wood / 3D print one and attach it to a screw on adapter.

get some opaque cardboard or plastic, cut out any shape in it at most 2/3 the size of your lens. Place in front of lens, enjoy ;)

The Olympus XA also only has 4 aperture blades, but the 35mm f/2.8 or f/3.5 lenses don’t really offer much in shallow depth of field. And at their max apertures don’t have square bokeh for obvious reasons.

You can make a bokeh in any chape, just cut it out from black paper and hold it in front of your lens
