Just a test video. I finally managed to get a very good performance settings to run DH + Comp reimagined.
As of today (March 14, 2024) only the Dev version of Comp Reimagined is compatible with DH mod. You can get it from the author's Patreon here: / emingt
Pc specs:
-CPU: i7 13700k
-MOBO: MSI z690 edge wifi
-RAM: 32GB DDR5
-GPU: NVIDIA Gigabyte RTX 2070 super.
-Monitor: Gigabyte 2K 27” 144ghz

I'm working on a modpack that includes all of these mods plus regions Unexplored and a few various structure mods. Any pointers on how I can get the chunks to load any better? Did you preload your chunks for this?

@@hueey_ for this video, no i didn’t. I just had to fly around that mountain and discover the terrain for myself. But if you change the CPU load behavior on DH settings and stay still for a bit, it can generate the terrain around you without moving, it depends on your pc as well

i've always wondered how complimentary reimagined would look w the new iris/dh mods, and to be honest i think now after watching this video that bliss might be better. as amazing as complimentary reimagined is i think the distance fog with bliss really helps sell the fact that you can see really far with dh

Completely Agreed! Bliss is waaaay more beautiful and smooth when it comes to LOD views. The dev has done an amazing job and it looks gorgeous with DH. However, the only area where Bliss completely lacks is when it comes to caves/Indoors lighting/ilumination. Its not good at all. You don’t see dark colors being accurate and there is this weird light leak coming through blocks when you break them underground or in caves. With CR is the complete opposite, indoor illumination is just perfect and accurate. I really hope the CR dev can implement the distant fog from Bliss

@@UCgx7OseCrundqkE8oEVeobg I think the fog helps with really selling the illusion that you have an insane render distance, because without, for me at least, it still seems like there's sort of an edge to your render distance, even though it's insanely large. But hey, everyone's entitled to their own opinions! :D

With how scaled up modern Minecraft is nowadays, I would personally not mind at all if they went in a "Minecraft Does DaVinci" direction. That flying machine is perfection.

Really happy to know that Complementary devs work on compatibility with DH ! I find Bliss to be way too coldish and oversaturated (despite its incredible looking water), and I love some tools from Complementary (animated vegetation, light level, etc.). Now the very best would be to have a mixture of Distant Horizons for far away chunks and Bobby for closer ones.

I have a RTX 2070 SUPER and it runs fairly good. my DH LOD is at 400 currently, and using Bliss a get a lot better fps. maybe u should tweak around some options within bliss shader?

I’ve been using both shaders for around 2 weeks and now and I can tell you: if you are planning to have DH turned on most of the time and flying around lands, Bliss would be a better option performance-good looking wise. But if eventually you WONT be flying around long distances in your world and you will turn off DH for a while, definitely switching to Complementary is the best option performance-wise. A few days ago CR dev added a new feature to the dev version, colored lighting, at first I thought it wasn’t a big deal, and probably I wouldn’t notice that much. But oh lord, i cannot go back now. You can literally see colored lights from any emesive block (redstone, lapiz, diamonds, lanterns, etc) and it looks gorgeously good, without loosing any performance.

@@Ay-xq7mjthats correct, but in other shaders, not in Complementary Reimagined. Also, some of those shaders that had “colored” lighting before cost a lot of performance, like rethinking voxels

How can I get a smoother performance? Running the same mods on a 13700k, 32gb 4000mhz, 3080Ti? CPU goes to 100% after 3 minutes.

I had the same issue! Luckily for me, thanks to my motherboard (MSI Z690 edge Wifi) I was able to do undervolting. And it runs smoothly, great performance, without heating up too much. If you look it up, many forums and sites confirm that the 13700k can reach up very high temps/performance very quickly by default. So one of the alternatives you can do is to try undervolting. If you have the same MOBO as me (or any mobo that allows you to modify the voltage of your cpu) go to the Bios settings > overclocking > advanced CPU config > CPU lite load. And choose one of the “modes” that works best for you. For me, I pick “Mode 3”. It performs great and rarely goes beyond 75c under heavy stress. Good luck!

If you are using DH it will fit perfectly. But if you’re not, it’s too big for exploring. For short distances you should use terralith.
