Now hypothetically, if some villagers were being held in these stalls against their will and whomever had them held prisoner there didn't want them escaping. Purely theoretically, just as a thought experiment, how should one modify this design to prevent their escape?

It should work, but you need to adjust the market stall a bit, so the villagers don't get out.

Honey blocks or maybe raise the market stall by half a block also. I do like the sounds of honey though. The villagers will also need beds so that their stock refreshes I believe

use commandblock, put it on the middle of the stall and hide it put it on repeat and type /execute @e[type=villager,r=30] ~~~ tp @s ~~~

I built this in my server and I tried to put a villager inside the stall with a honeyblock on the ground and he was still able to escape :(

Use honey blocks as a floor, mobs can't jump on them :)

You can hide one under the floor, they only need one on bedrock

They don’t need to be able to sleep In it, they just need to be able to link to it. If you’re on bedrock in Java it’s fine

Found an easy way to keep the villagers in place 🔒without honey blocks. 🏠The fence gates in the front, yeah just do that on the left and right side and for the back lower the gates by 1 block and put in fence to fill their place, Boom done. This requires 4 more gates and 5 more fence per structure

If you copy this design they can still get out, so you just have to modify to block any gaps

Yeah they can. I put some honey blocks and carpet on top of them as the stall floor. Pretty sure that stops them!
