This actually makes scientific sense. The steep top of an egg shape is incredibly hard to crush, holding many brick’s worth of weight. It is liable to break if it lands bottom-down as the bottom is less structural. Of course it would absolutely still break under an anvil and burn under lava but this result shouldn’t be massively surprising.

the reason this is the case is due to the fact that dragon eggs get converted into a falling block entity, which when falling onto a block considered not a full block the falling entity drops itself as an item instead of placing itself, it has nothing to do with the the block type thats falling or the type of block that it falls onto

it has to do with how Minecraft handles two blocks attempting to exist in the same place, and the static entity take priority.

My take- the dragon egg is super heavy and dense bc it has a dragon in it, but when it drops it breaks because of its own weight. Stuff does not hurt it because its 1- a boss egg and 2- it’s stronger than the other stuff

My theory for this is that the top of the egg is rock hard and super resistant, but the bottom surface is more fragile than a normal egg so it breaks on the stick of the torch.
