The glare is legit useless. They're adding a mob to show where mobs spawn which is is now the most obvious thing. It looks great! Good design, but not that useful of a mechanic. Imagine if it glowed and followed you around if you were holding something like glow berries. You'd have a portable light source to explore with! That would be so much cooler!

Poor glare. Everyone talks about how it is scared of the dark, but not its motivation. It is really more scared of Monsters and ventures into the dark with the hope that the player will do something about it.

I love how Wattles showcasing the Allays is literally just him trying desperately to have the vexes do the job an Allay would, and then he just gets fed up and he does it himself.

They should made a sort of "Dead City" type of village with Copper Golems. Cities that are run by Redstone or something. UPDATE: I just saw the Minecraft Live video and oh boy, they are adding ancient cities to the Deep Dark!!

These mobs are almost perfect. It would be such a surprise if they actually just put all the mobs in the game, instead of dream choosing which mob will be in minecraft.

It makes me sad that the glare will never be in the game, it's just showing us stuff we can't have :( It's such a cute and awesome mob, but I understand most people including myself need to vote for the more useful mob just because we can't pass that up. But it would be AMAZING if it was in the game! honestly I think the list is just too good this year that's the problem haha

The Allay wins my vote. After clearing a HUGE area, that would have come in real handy carting all the dropped blocks back to storage.

I wish we could get all three. I like the Glare’s aesthetics best and would rather have it as a pet if considering visuals alone, but it’s undebatably the weakest of the three functionaly. I think the Allay is the most useful of the three

I can see the Allay being useful for stuff like manual farms. Imagine you get it to pick up all the saplings after you chop down a bunch of trees

Honestly the more I learn about the allay the less impressed I'm feeling. At first I thought it was a duplicator. But it's not. Then I thought it would go collect maybe 8 different things, like if I was mining and didn't want to hold blocks. But it can't. And then I thought it might mine things out, like iron, or something, or harvest crops. But it can't. Then I thought maybe the range is massive to make up for it. Nope. This is really just an "oops I need an extra inventory slot" mob that just sounds really cool in theory. And they aren't constructed from what it sounds like, so unlike the copper golem, you have to go hunt these things down to get them, and transport them to your base, and probably keep them in a contained area, since mobs have a HARD time not dying, and omg is just not worth it. At first I was team Allay, but I'm switching sides. Copper golem fans unite! (But sadly the glare is the cutest)

The golem could be a fun way to set off an explosion or things you don't wanna be near when activated. For content creators, this also makes a way for them to show off Redstone with a full frame of the effect without using replay. Much more fun than a looooooong line of redstone.

Cooper Golem - potentially useful for pressing buttons - mobile lightning rod - is another much appreciated utility mob - cute asf - requires maintenance to function but can be used as a statue Allay - useful farming tool - also cute asf but uncatchable - unfortunately can’t raid chests or dup items Glare - potentially useful for indicating dark areas - maybe make a cute pet with a name tag? Honestly Cooper golem is my favourite but the others a good too

I am voting for the copper golem for a few reasons that I will list below: -Can be used as a redstone activator since it has the ability to press copper buttons. By doing this, you have a few options. One is to make a quick and easy randomizer. Two is you can give it just one button and it will activate machines for you when you can't do it yourself. By having a mob that presses a button, there are tons of creative uses for that. -The rod on its head has been confirmed to be a functioning lightning rod, which is one of a couple ways to deoxidize the golem. -The golem can be deoxidized with an axe or lightning. -You can build these guys anywhere you choose with copper which is very easy to obtain in large numbers. This brings more of a convenience compared to the other two mobs that have to be found somewhere in the world. -They add a new copper button to the game. -When fully oxidized, they can act as statues, which we may or may not be able to place wherever we want, making them work as a decorative piece to your builds.

I'm going golem, it offers more in my personal opinion. Usage, a friend, and lore. More copper uses. New decorations. Allay is cool, but doesn't win my vote. The glare flat out shouldn't win.

I just “claimed” a village a few days ago in my server, the last buildig I’ve been adding to it is a “hydro dam”, it was suposed to contain several levers that activated the redstone circuits of booth the town and the dam (for example turning on the lights of the village or opening the gates of the dam for the water to fall as a waterfall) now that I noticed this copper golem could be added, I really want to change the levers for copper buttons and let one of those little buddies in there to control the whole electric system of the town randomly, it can be so funny. I really hope it’s added becouse the alternatives are a bush with eyes and a fairy that collects dropped items (problem: there are very few dropped items in the game apart from the ones you drop yourself, I mean I know it can be useful for farms and stuff but you just can’t compare a dam fairy with the COPPER GOLEM, specially since hoppers exist).

I definitely prefer the Allay. Seems like a pretty fun implementation to farms and a cute way to add more uses to note blocks 😁

I feel like Iron Golem is my choice just cause it'd be cool to have statues of copper golems (just oxidized) and idk I like the idea of a little robot toddling around pushing the buttons in my base

I’m going for the copper golem. Copper golem is a mob on a timer, which is super unique, and it has a lot of red stone applications that weren’t possible or were much harder before, and it’s a living lightning rod. It would also add copper buttons and become a cosmetic statue once it fully oxidizes. It’s by far the most useful one in my opinion, since the Allay can only hold one stack of items (64, 16, or 1 item(s)) and is very slow, and the Glare is useless. Copper golem gang

The Allay has my vote. The Glare is a screaming wandering trader cosplaying as an F3 key. Copper Gollum is a random button masher with a shelf life and more maintenance than any other Gollum in-game. The Allay at least has descent use and interesting mechanics. Like giving it a totem of undying during a pillager-woodland mansion raid, blast mining, or tridents from drowned out in the wild.

We also know that Copper Golem might have something to do with Archaeology if it gets picked

General frustration over the mob vote existing again aside- I want the Glare, not because it stands out more, but because it seems like the others are only really there for specific types of players. Specifically, high-level redstoners. Unfortunately, the glare seems by far the least popular, so I'll probably end up voting for copper golem. I think the Allay seems by far the least useful to me.

I'm choosing the glare because of how simple its mechanic is and how, among all these choices, it seems to fit a larger player need than the rest (allay for farmers, copper golem for redstoners, and glare for anyone that wants to light their build/cave thoroughly). The rest are interesting mechanics but this mob serves as a supplement to the recent lighting changes, not as a redundancy of it, but as a means to direct the player (especially the newer ones) what should be done about the darkness. And among all these mobs I feel like the glare is difficult not to get right. With the phantom for example it was great on paper but bad in execution. For the glare its concept is so simple that it would be difficult to get wrong.

I like them all, honestly. But I want the Golem most just because it seems like the most fun and useful

Something I noticed about the glare is that it’s texture looks a lot like moss. If that’s accurate, we could make really easy moss farms as they navigate to the dark

i would just like to point out that the glare seeks out darkness, making it very helpful for mob proofing an area for a mob farm

Ima choose the copper golem, its really cute and interesting with copper buttons and also the oxidizing is really interesting. The only reason i wont pick allay is because they could make the mechanic awkward so that it would be easier to just use hoppers or pick up the item yourself I didnt expect to get a bunch of likes but thanks i guess

Copper Golems seem like they'd be great to put in a centralized farming complex with buttons placed around to activate random farms.

I really like the Allay, first of all it likes music and dances, sooo very cute! Like a friendly (and cuter) Vex. I also love the idea of it collecting items dropped on the ground, I mean fun for a simple game of fetch lmao but also so nice for mining when your inventory is full or it could help make a really neat item sorting/collecting system!

I'm leaning heavily towards Copper Golem. Not sure without seeing it in action, but I feel like there could be new types of auto farm builds that might be able to make use of the copper golem. The Allay seems mildly useful in certain situations but I feel like I can live without it if it means I get a copper golem instead. The Glare is useless especially with the new zero light spawn rule in 1.18.

I'm voting copper golem because: 1) its oxidised form is an awesome decoration 2) finding and repairing golems at archeology dig sites sounds amazing 3) they could be used to make builds feel more dynamic (they will pathfind to copper buttons and could turn lamps on/off, for example) 4) COPPER BUTTONS 5) they're another use for copper! Copper doesn't do enough yet, IMO 6) it's another golem! I've wanted a new golem for YEARS now 7) it's a friend for the iron golem (sorry snow golem, you don't count) 8) it's a sentient lightning rod, lol 9) you craft it, meaning if you really want one you can get it easily and if you don't like it, you can choose not to build one 10) IT'S SO CUTE!

The allay has so much potential, you could create grouped automatic item sorters by assigning more than one alway to a noteblock.

People keep talking about how great the golem is for automation when redstone clocks, observers and randomizers already exist.

Personally I think the copper golem would be the most funny, the copper golem can: 1. oxidise over time (being able to shave the rust of at any time or maybe even waxing it) 2. be the first mob introduced that can do more then activate just a pressure plate. 3. we'll get a new and probably unique button for redstone and building but ONLY if the copper golem is chosen. 4. It has also been said that the copper golem could play a role in the archeology update when it comes. 5. If it is really like other golem it could also possibly fight hostile mobs like snow and iron golems do. 6. IVE GOT SO MUCH FUDGING COPPER, I NEED TO USE IT ON SOMETHNG (especially because copper drops have been risen aswell in the next update) 7. Also when it oxidises.. it would make a nice decoration :3 I gotta say, the copper golem is such a good deal, I'm voting for it. I think potentially the alley could transport items automatically without a rail system if you had a note block on one end a a dispenser timed to only dispense 1 item very slowly and then another system that dispensed liked stacks of cobble that you had mined at regular intervals. You could have hoppers at each end that unlock every couple minutes to prevent despawning. Not sure it would be a super efficient way to go about it but seems feasible?

All three seem like they could be useful actually. If the glare can trigger a tripwire or a pressure plate, you could stick it somewhere were there is an intentional dark spot or two.

We could totally have it all in one cute little package! A cute copper golem robot helper! It will help gather items that match it's input slot. Can and will get distracted by copper buttons. Slowly rusts (oxadizes) to a standstill in which you need to shave it. Attracts lighting. And finally, it freaks out if it gets dark! How cute would that be?!?!

Guys the allay will not duplicate your stuff and can’t access your chests, so it can just grab items you’ve already dropped. So it’s pretty much useless. The copper golem is much nicer, because it gives a new purpose to copper, it’s amazing for red stone and when it gets old it turns into a nice statue to decorate your base. Also, Agnes said that it will attacks mobs just like iron golem does. And this game actually needs more golems. Team copper golem 💪🏻 And copper buttons would be really cool too!

I think the statues from the copper golem would be a great item to use in your build.

Havnig a mob press a button might also make things more automatic, especially if there is a way to make them permantly not oxidize, have a cool little dj pressing copper buttons on notebooks Having him open ur base when u load the chunk he is in It could also possibly be weaponized by having a dispenser system shoot tnt an example could be an auto turret like having him tnt cannon mining in the neather to help find netherite while u dont need to press a button or anything or in pvp as ur running away build a trap beforehand and build him so he targets buttons activating a trap maybe he could work similar to enderpearls, like when u walk into a chunk and load the chunk they can be activated to tp the player long distances imagine if u make a golem attached to a minecart timer and when another player walks into a chunk u can use the golem to activate a tnt cannon that can either shoot straign or shootgun style in all directions. No player input needed might be a strench but a fun trap

I love the function of the Allay, but I think I'm gonna vote for the Copper Golem! He looks very cool, and I like that he needs some maintenance instead of just "set it up and leave it." ^_^

I think the glare will actually more useful in 1.18 as it can show you the small spots where mobs can spawn between where you have spammed torches around randomly. since it will be hard to differentiate what is complete darkness and is not just like light level 2 or something, it can easily show you the places you've missed lighting up to prevent mobs form spawing.

so at minecraft live when they announce the "next update" is that just gonna be 1.18? or will it potentially have smth to do with 1.19?

I personally like the allay the most, like for example the sun rises again and all the skeletons burn and their bones drop on the ground and you need some bones to tame dogs but by the time you start looking around for them they all despawned, so just give the allay a bone or any other mob drop and let it find the mob drops that are on the ground from the mobs burning in the sun! ^^ That's only an example which I'd find the most useful

What would be a better idea for the glare mechanic would be if we could spark flint and steel and the spark will like, drift off into the dark and if you're in an area where a mob could spawn it will drift straight up or be super bright or something.
