Some things I really like about RTX is the light shafts and how they sort of adapt to your environment (Caves have more noticeable light shafts). I also like how the surface of the water has light casted onto it, which makes shadows and whatnot. The bounce lighting also effects the water's surface. Very cool effects.

For me, I think both have their strengths in varying environments. SEUS is sometimes more atmospheric and moody, sometimes Bedrock Edition RTX has nice vibrant colors and materials used. This is also just personal taste, but I prefer how Bedrock Edition RTX retains Minecraft's usual water texture as opposed to SEUS overhauling the water.

this is a nice comparison, i would like to point out that as of now hrr 3 is actually available with improvements. my thoughts on the two compared is that ptgi seems to have a better grasp on the real minecraft aesthetic, sea lanterns being properly presented as a dimmer, more greenish lighting than bright studio lights, ptgi also handles contours/ambient occlusion far better imo. ptgi also has far more immersive dynamic range and tonemapping, as well as bloom, overall selling the lighting aspect better.

@@Hikarmeme You don't need an Nvidia GPU to run Minecraft RTX (or really any RTX games), and PTGI does NOT work with AMD graphics cards while Minecraft RTX does. Support for all GPU's has been further reinforced with the new technologies that released to the public alongside the 40 Series launch. Ray Tracing is about to get a whole lot crazier and more widespread with this new tech. Sadly I don't think Minecraft RTX will be updated to adopt these new technologies.

The main difference between SEUS and RTX is that SUES just uses shaders to simulate RT effects with brute force, while the RTX version uses RT cores to calculate the output via path tracing using designated hardware. Which means that technically at least, the RTX version would always be more accurate and efficient. As for which one "looks good", is entirely a subjective matter.
@elijahgrean
@elijahgrean Жыл бұрын
Main drawback for the bedrock rtx version is the time it takes to update the light because it's all raytraced. When closing a door, or breaking a block it takes a while for it to essentially render, and you can see all the little grains of light update. Really undesirable for gameplay.
@attilavs2

Also it's not really that much more efficient, with hrr 3 almost cranked and patrix 32x i get 70~ fps and 40-45 when there is a big shiny surface, but with minecraft rtx ( no upscaling) i get 30-40 fps at all time

Don't know what post processing is done with PTGI but RTX definitely gives a flatter and overall brighter image, better for adding your own post effects but PGTI definitely gives a great atmosphere and is much more moody. I definitely prefer the more accurate RTX lighting, which is where some of the brightness comes from, but if I didn't have the choice then PGTI is definitely really cool. One thing I'd like to see though is Minecraft updating their graphics engine so shaders could see more performance, RTX works great but unfortunately is also only supported on Bedrock which is a real shame as although we have GeyserMC to play on Java servers, anyone that's used it knows there's some quirks so it's great for exploring your map but playing on that account as a main isn't very practical. Although Java shaders work well there is plenty of room for improvement, my 3070 doesn't see a terrific amount of extra frames vs the 1050ti I used to own, the card is like 3 times as powerful but it definitely doesn't scale that way. Also for anyone itching to play MC with shaders it is cool but they aren't game changing, like sure it's cool to see your builds in shaders but playing the game is much more enjoyable without the issues imo especially if you play at 144hz. Personally feel like this makes more of a difference than graphics to the way the game feels. 60fps from 30 is a massive jump and same for 60 to 144.

You should do a comparison between Kappa Shaders and Minecraft RTX, as Kappa has a feature called “global illumination,” which is so close to Minecraft RTX that it’s honestly scary. It’s nowhere near as optimized as RTX is, though, as OptiFine doesn’t allow direct access to RTX hardware yet, so the shader does the best it can with what it has available to it. But as long as you’ve got enough RAM, Kappa will work fine, and it’ll be the closest you can possibly get to Minecraft RTX on Java.

I really like seus ptgi, the brightness and gamma levels are almost perfect and it brings a lot of life into the game, making the lighting physics and stuff very real. I also appreciate how the character's vision is blurred and that the light that comes through the surface of the water is very soft. Minecraft RTX does bring some realism but I feel it is WAY too exaggerated with certain things like some surfaces being too reflective and in some scenarios I feel like it makes stuff way too bright and the gamma is like when you max out the gamma on the old minecraft xbox one edition; it changes the colours and makes them look washed out. The thing I do appreciate about RTX though is how well it does shadows and that one scene in the bedroom with the large window and the lantern had those areas that're brighter where the sun comes in just like what happens in real life. TLDR; I really like both Seus Ptgi and RTX and the realism they bring to the game, but I feel that RTX exaggerates stuff too much and can make stuff too bright, which also affects the colours, making them look washed out.

Also, RTX water legitimately sucks, PTGI is totally winning on every scene that has water in it. I mean, considering Bedrock RTX only works best on PC, with things like the switch not able to really run it, SEUS PTGI is better by contrast, since even though it's locked to java edition, which is PC only, you can use it with Java edition mods and modpacks.

You can play Minecraft RTX with add-on (In mcpedl for free) and I don't know what do you mean by "with things like the switch not able to really run it". But it's true that the Seus PTGI is supported on more GPU than Minecraft RTX (and RTX come also with a lot of bugs like: crashes, weird rainbow colors screen, everything reflective for some reason, the dev must be very tired of adding millions of things every update lol). But with dlss Minecraft RTX have a huge difference in performance, 70 fps on Seus ptgi hrr and 90 fps for Minecraft RTX. And dlss is way less blurry than the classic TAA upscaling that use the Seus PTGI.

and obviously the textures of things like water is more refined by Seus*. But lighting, reflectiveness, anything that has to do with lighting. That for sure goes to RTX.

Did you run both on default, it looks like so cause the ptgi does have an option for rendering a texture differently, like the rtx

I wouldn't call this a fair comparison. For the Sues PTGI comparison shots, I noticed that the textures for the blocks were the same textures used in the vanilla game - they had no added material properties like you would find in Minecraft RTX resource packs. It makes the comparison unfair.

Well playing in seus ptgi seems good because it got the look of Minecraft but playing in rtx looks different I mean it's looks more real the seus ptgi but we have to bear in mind that we have to make Minecraft look like Minecraft. So I think seus ptgi is good for Minecraft.

it really isn't a one size fits all here, i personally liked ptgi more often than rtx but rtx still looked better at times there its kind of up to personal preference, but rtx doesn't really change a regular survival world all that much, while ptgi does

Minecraft is the best use of RTX in my opinion. Every other game it just seems like a gimmick, but it genuinely improves Minecraft.

My main problem with shaders, especially Seus, was that they tried to look "Realistic" at the expense of looking good, or at the expense of looking like Minecraft. Minecraft RTX was less full fledged than I liked. (Seemed like it was more made for the demo, since not all light blocks even give off light with it on), but it at least really genuinely looks like minecraft, and has good colors. Seus looks like a raytracing verison of Seus. (it is ofcs) I'd take RTX if it was full fledged, and on Java. But for now, I use "Rethinking Voxels" and absolutely LOVE it. Plus, way better performance than Sues or RTX, with no real quality compromise.
@Pecola1FromScratch

And one thing Seus didn't have when I tried it, maybe there's settings, or I might have had a demo if there's a paid version for full features, which would also take points away if you have to pay, but colored lights. Blue torches should give off blue light. Works that way in Rethinking Voxels!

@@Pecola1FromScratch I have to say that I'm very impressed by Rethinking voxel, it's the only shader that can make god rays out of every type of light sources.
