The 70% reduced air exposure is actually not that big an issue because in the new caves there are more than 5 times the amount of exposed blocks. So even though air exposure is reduced, you are going to find more diamonds than you would in pre-cave update caves. (Plus diamonds are more common bellow y0 now than they ever were above)
@owen551
@owen551 Жыл бұрын
500% more exposed blocks * (100%-70% as many exposed blocks) = only 150% more diamonds exposed. So these enormous open caves are only a little better at finding diamonds then the old caves used to be. Which also means if you are traversing a small cave you are actually worse off.

This feels like the comment that was made before all those videos about the new diamond diversity and spawn mechanics broke them apart. Diamonds are universally harder to find. The catch that "oh, there's 70% more exposed blocks to make up for the new lack of exposure" doesn't make up for those air exposed blocks being in a place you have to scaffold to. Being only 1 vien deep. Being surrounded by mobs. Needing armies of torches to light up the caves as you go so you don't get jumped constantly. And generally being harder to strip mine for. Strip mining became universally slower because of mining through deepslate, and stone diamond ore now being one of the rarest blocks in game. So to achieve the same efficiency you have to explore open caves. Light them up. And hope the vein isn't just a single. Which it probably is, because for every ore exposed to air, the next block in the vein is less likely to generate. So if a diamond, or even fucking iron, is exposed, the chances of it being a single vein are very likely in deepslate y levels. It's entirely slower now. And when it's managing to be just as fast, it's more annoying.

My biggest problem with Minecraft is that the building portion and the adventure portion feel very separated. There's only a few things you need to build to progress, like basic shelter, a portal, and an enchantment room. The reason I love modpacks is that they give many systems for you to set your goals towards, resulting in a ton of exploration and construction. I wanna see Minecraft go towards that route, in a way that doesn't require lots of research in mods.

Make it able to combine with any item in an anvil to make it bound to you so that when you die, you wont lose it, and additionally, rather than breaking when losing all its durability, it simply loses functionality until repaired. Maybe add furniture finally (or just some more decoration blocks) and tie obtaining it with stuff found in various biomes? @AlFredo-sx2yy Жыл бұрын
@@azzy-551 thats because each potion effect is applied at a different point between the server - client communication, affecting how the final result works. The potions internally use a 32 bit signed integer value to store its values in memory, which is 4 bytes long, but when stored into an NBT for a potion item, it is treated as a signed char type, which is 1 byte long. This means that an effect value of 128 is treated by the item NBT as -1 because the value range for a signed char is from -128 to +127. This means that converting a signed int with the value +128 to a signed char makes it turn into -128. The same happens with 255, only that this time it rolls to -1 when converting from int to char. The only reason strength 255 or health effects work is that the effect is applied once on the server side and then telegraphed to the clients, meaning that the operation is done treating the value as an int, and properly applying the value 255. I dont know exactly why is it that each potion effect is applied at a different point, but that's the reason why high numbers on potion effects like levitation look different between the client and the server. Im not that much of a micraft player these days so there's probably someone out there who knows why exactly each potion effect is applied at a different point. There has to be some sort of justification i guess, but i dont know what it could be.

Hell, the blue compass should imo be able to be pointed at several different structures - train up a Cartographer villager to master, and he offers trades to make it point to a Mansion/Monument/Fortress/Ancient City/Bastion etc. For the mining, I'm okay with how it is now. The big caves are fun to explore. And there's more ways to get diamonds: exploring different structures, buy tools by trading with villagers, treasure chests. Don't like mining? Minecraft vanilla was more fun about the time the end was brand new. It’s seems to have become more an adventure game. Before it was mostly a game were you focused on building large buildings and contraptions but to make the inconveniences of the game no longer inconvenient so progression was based around building but they’ve streamlined things to take care of old complaints similar to what jay has of it now that got rid of the need build time consuming things. Idk I guess all depends on what you want and what your personality is. Modded Minecraft is addictive and gives much easier dopamine than vanilla for sure.

I like the fact that you can automate things but I don't like how much you have to have iron to automate anything. And so your second automation really needs to be an iron farm. With that in mind it means villagers are essential for automation. And villages near spawn are rare. Also transporting mobs is a pain in the ass. And the only way to make it easier is more iron. Which is also how you make mining easier.

For villagers, there's a way to cheese getting the book you want, but it's still a serious grind: If they don't sell what you want when you place the station, break it and place it again without trading with them. This does only work with trades that are at the lowest tier though...and also getting exactly what you want can still take soooo long. Also, for getting levels you mentioned idling at a mob farm. Zombie Piglin farms don't really need idle time and are an absurd amount of XP.

I think most of your complaints are about not being able to do things fast. I think the reason diamonds are rarer is because it makes you much stronger and should take time. Minecraft isn't supposed to be played fast, and if you are getting bored because you cant find things as fast as possible then minecraft isnt for you. It is all about patience.
@poggestfrog

the problem is that forcing someone to grind is not good game design. Saying "xxx takes forever to find AND(this part's important) is only found through a very repetitive process" doesn't mean that you aren't impatient, it means that the game forces you to have an unnecessary time investment. Is it rewarding when you finally get diamonds? Yes. Is it fun to strip-mine for the better part of an hour just to get some iron boots? No.

i tried to make this comment short but i had too much to say i'm sorry pretend these are a bunch of cute little separate comments for each section :3 >air exposure decreased by 70% wtf so the air exposure is "decreased" by 70% but given that you see ~70% more blocks, it about evens out. a spreadsheet isn't game balance. Though i do think the diamond economy loop could be better. They left it alone and found during testing suddenly diamonds were too common with bigger caves >air exposure of coal decre-- same reason but also there's even more coal all together, especially in you're mining at the top of mountains. You'll have more coal then you'll ever need after one trip up there. Iron too, for most. >mining is tedious up and down up and down. it's not difficult just annoying well i mean, i think exploring caves is fun. Rarity = dopamine when i see rare shiny thing because valuable. Also as far as coal and iron not being available at bedrock, well yeah, that's the gameplay loop. See if you can manage your resources correctly to get further in the underground. then if you can't, come back up for food (from lush caves), iron, coal, etc. Then you can more often then not get enough wood from exposed mineshafts since they're much easier to stumble upon now. Hell, in the new caves they're often so big and winding i get turned around and end up at iron and coal level without even trying, so there's that too. Honestly my biggest complaint is that deepslate is really really slow to mine, but i think that was to discourage players from strip-mining, funnily enough. But i'm also a weirdo who likes strip mining because it's zen >anvil break wtf I understand the iron investment asked of the player for anvils but it is weird that they break yeah, especially on RNG. It's not too big of a deal because it's easy to just stack them up so they automatically replace themselves. My complaint is that repairing tools increases the enchantment weight of a tool WHY. >eyes of ender break wtf Eyes of ender randomly break so you don't spam them, basically. It's to prevent players from doing the really dumb and tedious thing of throwing an eye every couple paces instead of just going the distance. Though perhaps it would be more elegant to just give eyes of ender a reaaally long cool down? >have fun leveling (villagers) up over and over until you get mending actually if you don't trade with them and break their workstation, they lose their job, then put the workstation back down and they re-roll what they're selling, so you can just keep doing that until they have what you want on the first trade. But yes, it's tedious as hell and kind of an exploit. I don't really like the way villagers are designed but they're hard to ignore because they're so powerful >the most effective way to grind xp is to build a mob farm then idle certainly not the farm you built in most cases. Ender Enders are pretty cheap and yeah you have to go to the end and do a little bit of grinding but it's pretty fast, and you're basically always clicking because of how fast endermen spawn. Guardian farms are even faster still. I know for quick and dirty xp people also like to go mining for quartz, especially early game. >the ender dragon is a pushover wtf tru >the warden isn't even a boss and he's cracked well yeah the whole point is that he's more of a force of nature than an enemy you defeat. Everything about his design is to discourage you from entering combat with him. He's a punishment for failing a challenge, not a challenge in and of it's self. >here's the loot that he guards wtf most common chance of enchanted golden apples, an exclusive music disc, an exclusive enchantment, and shards that let you craft an exclusive compass? nah, worth it for sure. >you should have to kill the warden to go to the end The endermen have a connection to the end, as do their pearls. The warden does not. You can find endermen in high numbers in warped forests in the nether, and you can also get pearls pretty fast from bartering. I believe you can also trade for pearls very fast as well. The RNG should be better but yeah, the warden isn't and shouldn't be a boss. Also, there needs to be something ensuring that the player went to the nether and explored (blaze powder) >the elytra only have 7 minutes of flight time wtf to be fair i think players use the elytra way more than the devs really intended it to be used for. You couldn't even originally fly with them, only glide. It is kinda OP, but players are very used to it now. That said, if you're end game i dont think it's unfair to expect the player to invest mending and unbreaking into their pair of OP wings. Part of me also misses having to build transportation networks like ice highways, which just aren't as useful now.
@onemoreweirdo207

I feel like Xsuma and several others did videos showing that diamond generation is fundamentally worse than before. And slower to find. Like, ok, to actually establish the logic; looking for air exposed diamonds was never the optimum way to find diamonds before, so we're already on shitty ground establishing it as the new best method. Then, they reduce air exposure generation, but increase air exposed blocks. This is a cancellation, and not an improvement. So I seriously have to press the logic that this isn't an improvement. Air exposed diamond was always worse. They made it even worse, but made bigger caves to compensate. So the worse method was tweeked to be just as optimum in the newer generation. This isn't an improvement just because there's more air exposed blocks. Reducing air exposed generation, but increasing cave size, and reducing vein size in lower in the world, is a natural change. Also, finding air exposed diamond was still never the best option. Mining through stone was. But now, stone diamond ore is incredibly rare because diamonds is more likely to spawn the lower in the world the generator goes. But also, the lower it generates, the more likely it is to spawn smaller veins. Also, having an air exposed ore in a vein also increases the likelihood the next ore won't generate. So two factors make the ore less likely to generate in 3-5 chunks veins. Being lower, and being air exposed. So you're more likely to find single chunks in deepslate exposed ore veins. To counter act this, you could mine deepslate to remove the air exposed penalty. But then you're mining through deepslate. Which is slower than the insta mine of stone. So before, mining through stone was the best option. That was entirely gutted. And now, the worse option was edited to be the same with new generation. It wasn't good before. Gutting the old best way doesn't make tweeks to the old worst way better. If ya get me.

These things have been getting worse and worse as time goes on. some are interesting, i will admit, but there's an extreme amount of just stupid or overly tedious things. the warden is punishment for failure imo. So if you fail to sneak properly, he is your punishment for not sneaking. Then you have to get away and lay low before coming back. The 4 other diamonds are still part of the "exposure" ores to us as we can get them without strip mining but to the game's code they are not "exposure" ores as they don't have direct air contact. Here is your crucifixion by comments as requested: 1. Most of your points are about time when Minecraft is a game about the journey without end, just you setting goals for yourself and achieving them (the dragon is not an end, just a convenient way to place credits). The purpose of Minecraft is to enjoy it, if you don't want to strip mine for diamonds, just enjoy yourself in the new caves, and you will stumble across some. 2. The warden is not meant to be killed. This is EXPLICITLY stated by Mojang and making it a requirement for killing the ender dragon is like putting God in front of an ant. Mojang describes the Warden as a "unstoppable force of nature", not as a boss. The only reward for killing it is a block that is only meant for those who are willing to go through such extremes to make more efficient XP farms. 3. The ender dragon is not a pushover for most players and is not really intended as an ending for the game, more like a goal to accomplish in the never ending journey of Minecraft. I have played Minecraft for at least 10 years and cannot recall ever beating the ender dragon because it is not something I focus on, but that is completely fine. 4. The caves and cliffs update increased exposed blocks by 10 fold, and you are complaining that they reduced ore air exposure by one half to seven tenths? Statistically, between the increased chance of finding diamonds at lower levels, the huge caves, and the 70% reduction of exposure chance, you get a net positive chance to find diamonds without strip mining. 5. RNG is NOT that big of a deal. The anvil is so easily replaced later in the game that the breaking doesn't matter, the eyes of ender are only a problem if you don't take like three minutes to get one or two more rods than you need, enchants are overpowered so they should take time and effort to obtain, and trading with villagers is a stupid mechanic in general and is not necessary, just very recommended and overpowered. 6. Skill issue

honestly a big problem that I have with minecraft is how little effort it takes to upgrade tools. step 1: get wood pickaxe step 2: get stone in 1 minute to make a stone pickaxe step 3: get enough coal and iron in 10 to 15 minutes to get iron gear step 4: strip mine 30 minutes untill you have diamond gear now you have access to every area in the game what I would want is diamond to be exclusive to the deep stone layer, but in order to get threw the deep stone you would need to go to a third dimension which has ore that can break through it. This way getting diamond is an actual acomplishment instead of a bore. Also mincraft could use more bosses and like a grapple hook so you could effectively explore the bigger caves.

In my opinion the biggest minecraft issue is progression. You can get full iron armor in first 30 minutes of gameplay easily which is enough for majority of mobs/situations, so you're left with grinding the diamonds and enchantments, after that bosses are just a formality.

Ironically enough I actually like the random nature of minecraft (except for the anvil) because it “gets rid” of players who try too much to do everything in “the most effective way”. For me minecraft is supposed to take time to some degree. For example, why do you HAVE to get a particular enchantment book when you could just forget about it for sometime and one might appear later down the line. Do you get me? I have honestly basically never actively hunted for enchantment books except maybe occasionally when fishing. But again, I’m also fishing for food so I’m not doing a tedious task in my mind.

I know that this videos 4 months old, but something that I haven't seen alot of major discussion about is how Mojang re-implemented telemetry into Java edition, and doesn't allow Minecraft to launch without internet (fact check me on this). So now, everyone's playtime and other data is just automatically being sent to Mojang and linked to their Microsoft Account, without any option to turn it off.

I think you've misunderstood the air exposure thing a little bit, yeah air exposed diamonds are down but air exposed blocks in caves is... Way, way up. The clusters will be further apart, but most caves are likely to have more clusters of air exposed diamonds in it than the old cave systems. From what I've played of the new update I've certainly found it easier to find diamonds in caves.
@trashpanda9160
@trashpanda9160 11 ай бұрын
1:19 the reason it’s like this is because since the caves are bigger more cave is exposed and f it was the same it would add an influx of diamonds.

I hate Copper, I feel like ever since copper was added, it has become more annoying to find iron, and it would be fine, if there were copper tools, but there aren’t, so I feel like half of the early game I’m stuck with no iron and a whole bunch useless copper. They should’ve implemented copper better so it doesn’t feel useless and like it’s just making an essential resource harder to find, Mojang really needs to give copper more practical uses.

i actually dont mind the nether star, sure its only useful for mining and buildiing, i'd want them to change the way to spawn it since its boring to grind skulls and also rework the ocean temple, instead of making unbreakable blocks they just make you drink galons of cow milk

The fastest way to find diamonds has never been strip mining and it likely never will be. Finding a cave and looking around is much much much more effective, because when strip mining you get at best 10 new blocks seen every second. In caves you see HUNDREDS of blocks that could potentially be diamonds. I don't know why people have always thought strip mining is the best but oh well. I do understand mining is boring tho. Edit: even with the air exposure diamonds nerf thing, caves are MILES better for finding them because of how much bigger they are and for the reasons outlined above

The diamond thing makes sense since you can already get so many diamonds if you find the right caves. I currently have about stack and a half of diamond blocks (and that is after using some diamonds for other things, including replacing the armor of my friend who is bad at the game, and making 9 diamond hoes for the tool chest at spawn) Imagine if the spawn rates were normal, that would be too overpowered since you could get several stacks of diamonds from one mining session (instead of only getting a stack if you’re lucky, which makes more sense from a game balancing standpoint)

I think that your idea about the Warden dropping a key to the end makes much more sense, but I think for the end fight the first phase should be the normal flying phase but the second phase should be like the one from the Epic Fights mod where the dragon lands on the ground and you battle it while it constantly uses it's breath weapon and tries to stomp on you and bite you

I really hate the lack of changing/rebalancing old mechanics and instead just throwing on new crap, the devs are so scared of upsetting the fanbase (also why they do the mob vote) that they refuse to change DECADE old mechanics in any way. I mean you can escape pretty much every mob in the game with just 10 blocks or by literally running away (you can also take any risk out of a dangerous situation just by placing down a bed and setting your spawn beforehand), completely devoid of any strategy, I mean not even baby zombies are faster than the players walking speed. Anywho, the game needs a TON of reworking to pretty much every aspect of the game

Some very good points, the RNG section especially seems like a no-brainer. I disagree with your boss solution, the ender dragon 'quest' is an iconic part of minecraft and should not be changed, also the warden is designed to not really be killed - you can kill him, and you do get loot with some situational uses, but it's not intended - just possible for the sake of player freedom. The Deep dark does need to be reconsidered, the unique loot from it is laughably underwhelming (guess we have those big frames, but they have no features yet, and we have nod idea when they will.) The wither you might have a point, some more uses for the nether star would be very fun. As for the elytra, I agree with you, but I feel it would be very controversial as it is already accused of being OP. as for ores you can usually find a reasonable amount of them quite quickly IMO, might be different for bigger playthroughs.
