Everyone playing Minecraft Java edition needs to be aware of a new exploit in multiplayer MC. Basically any player can run any code by writing a specific message in chat. All versions from 1.8.9 are as far as I am concerned affected. You can fix this for some version (I have tested for 1.16.5 and all versions after) by adding this JVM flag: -Dlog4j2.formatMsgNoLookups=true This does NOT work for 1.8.9 which means at the moment any server you join in 1.8.9 can run code on your computer. This is a serious issue and I recommend not joining any server in 1.8.9 until mojang fixes this. Hypixel claims to have fixed this issue, so maybe it will be alright to join that server. Be VERY careful!
