I think you've made some spot on observations here, and it's a problem that seems to exist in every minecraft genre lately. As more of a let's player, it's hard not to notice the repetitiveness of the typical let's play thumbnail and script as I scroll down my suggestion feed, and like the video examples you gave, the top ones are often the ones that repeat the hardest 😂 I'll be interested to see you continue to explore this.

Another thing I noticed about newer Minecraft KZfaqrs is the skins, older KZfaqrs tend to have skins with effort put into them or something that goes with theme of their channel. Newer KZfaqrs cover their skin in a vibrant color and add a smiley face or just a random skin with a onesie on.
@fireliliu
@fireliliu Жыл бұрын
Not really with effort, but more like more unique that makes them and their channel/brand stand out more in the Minecraft community. When recalling the early-mid 2010's KZfaq, would you recall a Minecraft KZfaqr who used a BenjaminCanadian-style gamer boy/gamer girl skin? Now in the 2020's, would you recall a Minecraft KZfaqr that used a NameMC-style eboy/egirl skin? You might remember some, you might remember none. You can remember skins that have those said styles because they were associated with a KZfaqr you knew, but you will remember more skins that aren't sticking to the trend or the norm. Whether it may be 2010's KZfaqrs (DanTDM, Stampylongnose, etc) or 2020's KZfaqrs (Dream, Clownpierce, etc) I hope I can get my point across
@altyre7953
@altyre7953 Жыл бұрын
I'm going to add to the discussion here. KZfaq's algorithm picks videos that either have lots of watch time, or videos that "trend jack" around the currently popular topics. It is an extremely difficult and hard thing to become popular in 2 years like Dream, who did have fresh content to offer KZfaq. Through his wake, several other KZfaqrs copied his formula and made fast paced videos to keep audience attention. Now, fast paced content has nearly always been a thing on KZfaq, but there have been slower paced KZfaqrs that got popular (I.E DanTDM* and Technoblade). I have hope that some content creators who are chill and reserved can provide a calmer aura in this competitive environment, as people's interests constantly fluctuate to the more wild personalities. *He's more medium paced if anything
@WhatIsMyPorpoise
@WhatIsMyPorpoise Жыл бұрын
but dantdm had the power of nostalgia backing him. A lot of the older crowd respect their roots and keep to calmer videos. Most of Hermitcraft and Empires fit that style, with the most blatant outlier being Oli, but he just shoves so much time and effort that you can really, really tell it isn't attention-grabbing just to jump on a trend, you HAVE to just respect the guy(theOrionSound). But yeah, I guess the KZfaq content sphere in general has picked up that hypeman-vibe-for-viral-content somewhere around logan paul's rise in popularity and that trend never died. There's a reason I never bother with the trending tab anymore.
@altyre7953
@altyre7953 Жыл бұрын
@@WhatIsMyPorpoise the trending tab OCCASIONALLY has some good stuff in it, but yeah. I don’t bother with the side of KZfaq that deals with real world stuff like “life hacks” and reaction videos. I just stick with Grian and Technoblade because they’re Minecraft KZfaqrs that I find relaxing.

As a person who was a builder for Minecraft curios and even was a moderator in his server, I can confirm all. Not much effort went into the videos, just getting small kids to do unpaid acting work for him in a way they won't even notice. I remember him saying always he had the original content and thumbnails and that he started upon the "revenge roleplay content", which we all know is not the case, just a bit of photoshop color adjust and he thought you got a different thumbnail. I left the place in July of last year due to a lot of those reasons and due to him saying he would pay every time and getting away with it with every promise, and also due to another reason i won't open here. Thank you for making this video as Minecraft content has been going downhill in the past few years.

This is great! Being a fellow small content creator I can tell just how much effort and time was put into this. Also here is a few tips: 1. Sorry but in the description it's supposed to be "you're" not "your" 🤓 2. In some parts of the video it's very noticeable where there are cuts in the audio so try to either make the transition smoother or try to record the whole sentence in one go. You can see this happening at 4:05 3. At 3:08 the voice volume got very quiet so make sure to check that each voice recording is at the same volume.

A lot of KZfaqrs are kinda pressured to stick to this formula, mostly because they'll be overshadowed by other creators doing the same content, right now most Minecraft KZfaqrs just copy off of each other, one example are roleplay 100 days KZfaqrs, I think they got the idea from ForestBono or something, but the idea is that they play 100 days with a twist like modded or something else, the first series of 100 days were good but it later devolved into crazy editing and high quality mods, but it could've been great if they had removed the roleplaying, now like 100 or even more KZfaqrs are copying the same idea, at this point it's getting so repetitive that they get more attention that those who actually deserve it.

Hey! Small content creator here! Great Video! Congrats on blowing up dude! Unfortunately, this is probably a trap that most medium sized Minecraft KZfaqrs can fall in, they make a certain type of video, that video then blows up, so they repeat that formula over and over again, luckily this doesn't happen to everyone, but sadly reusing ideas just works, and sometimes uploading anything else will just make the view count terrible! (I've had personal experiences with new ideas not working lol) It's pretty obvious to see that Quiff is making videos for a younger audience (I'm guessing), which isn't a bad thing of course, but again, it could hinder creativity. Also Minecraft Curious should definitely stop straight up stealing people's video ideas, maybe putting a spin on things and such would definitely be better, but yeah you kind of already said this. Another problem that exists (I think) is that we're just running out of ideas for Minecraft videos, There are some youtubers who still do some new cool stuff here and there, but for most Minecraft content it's just the same with a very slight difference, which isn't bad by the way, I literally do it lol but it could feel same-y after a while. Anyway great job! Will definitely be sticking around for Part 2! ^^

My goal as a Minecraft youtuber is not to make it big, but not to make it into this list lol. Even as a micro creator, I realized my videos are getting repetitive. This is a nice video, we'll be waiting for the Part 2!

Dude you blew up But really did point out the obvious issues with new aged Minecraft videos. It's so hard to get any of my Minecraft videos out there because it's nothing compared to the fast paced content. I was getting very discouraged and was ready to give up on recording Minecraft content until I saw this video

I personally have no problem with videos being scripted. It’s meant for entertainment. But I will agree that the actual content itself is just farming clicks from little kids who don’t know any better and just watch the loudest, most colorful and in your face content because it keeps their attention. Doesn’t matter to them if it’s unoriginal or the same thing they have been fed before. Which personally as long as those KZfaqrs are doing anything harmful to their audience (besides probably ruining their attention span) I’ve got no issue with them personally. Like yeah their content is annoying as fuck, clearly uninspired & unoriginal but I’m not going to fault them for wanting to make bank. I myself am a recent graduate of game design that wants to and has made different forms of entertainment other than video games and I don’t expect my content to be for everyone. I make it for the people that enjoy what I also like. So I agree with your criticism but at the same time, their content is CLEARLY not meant for people like you and me.

Honestly, it doesn't even matter if this type of video has already been done before, or if we kind of take this as a fact. I just like that you have such a high quality video with so little subs. THese inds of things inspire me to make better videos (even thought I can't), and I hope you come to succeed soon!

Honestly I think everyone watching this video can tell you’re going to make it big on KZfaq. One can only hope they make good, original content like you and not copy some crappy formula that every other KZfaqr who plays Minecraft videos follow. Stay strong bro, you’ll make it.

I noticed most Minecraft KZfaqrs follow a trend because they know it’ll attract a certain audience. Even if the video is the same as their 7 other previous videos, if they are growing, they really don’t care. It can be the 100 hardcore Minecraft days to building competition where someone cheats for the 100th time. I realize that most of these guys lack ALOT of creativity in their videos. I use to watch a bunch of guys build a treehouse and sometimes sabotage eachother. It was a whole series and I loved it. There were also adventure maps left and right. Now I just don’t see that anymore and if I do, you rarely see them pop off.

Hey man I know you probs won’t see this but I also made a video similar to this 6 months ago although that was mostly faced on a certain niche of the mc community but I couldn’t agree with you more. Minecraft creativity is dying and it’s depressing that everybody’s doing the same thing. I’m glad to know I’m now the only one who spotted this and good luck man your editing was amazing. Hey, I'm one of the people who did videos for Baked (Minecraft Curios) and I moderate his server, I thought I'd give my opinion on this. There is nothing wrong about following a trend as long as it's not pure copy pasting. The reason Baked copied some thumbnails is because they *work.* As for the videos themselves, the idea of "My friends trolled me so I got revenge" might not be original, but we did our best to include original parts in the videos (different chases, traps, battles... even the actors changed a lot throughout the vids). Saying Baked doesn't spend any time when working on videos is also completely wrong. Baked first has to come up with a revenge idea, because he doesn't always use the same troll/way of revenge, it always changes. The recording themselves take at least an hour, sometimes two. Then there's the editing, which also takes a pretty long time. As for the people in the comments who are gonna say "unoriginality bad, not being original=bad KZfaqr", how many subscribers do you have ? How many views ? Most of you are just jealous because some people managed to successfully follow a trend. And I don't blame you, I just want you to think carefully. Those KZfaqrs' success wasn't just luck. They were able to seize the appropriate moment and use it to grow. You can't just post a bunch of videos around a trend and expect it to work. It's not that easy, and I know it, because Baked told me himself, and I believe him. I myself accidentally got 200k views because I made a video at the appropriate time of growth in popularity from that meme. A lot of people use trends to grow, and there's nothing wrong with that.

as a larger-sized minecraft creator currently trying my best to make the most original content I can, (and struggling to) I can tell you that Minecraft content is currently poisoned with this shitty copy paste content that's aimed at kids. this content is everywhere. it's getting views, which makes good content IMPOSSIBLE to surface in this community, and it also drives older viewers away. originality in this community is dead, however i do believe there is still a chance for someone to rise up and finally give people some good, original content. just give it some time. I'm trying my best to be that person who can bring authentic, original content back to Minecraft, the stuff that everyone likes, but I'm currently struggling to do so, but i ain't giving up till i succeed and give this community the best i can give. wish me luck

wishin you luck homie! as a smaller sized minecraft creator i fully agree with your points mentioned. another reason its so difficult to come up with original ideas is because minecraft has been out for over 10 years, so its pretty hard to come up with much new ideas.

I think they're attempting the same thing mobile ads do, where they release two separate but similar videos, and then see which creates more engagement. Then by comparing the two, they can experiment to figure out exactly which concepts the audience prefers more to double down on (i.g. "my video where I used the imposter account to cheat in a build competition got more views than my video where I used mods to cheat in a build competition. So I should make more videos involving imposter accounts").

There is an even bigger example of this. Videos made by modern hardcore creators like carvs, sb737, cookiegod, lockdown life, and many, many more, are all doing the same videos. If u search up "i captured every mob" or "i built every biome", then 15 clones of the same video appear, becuase hardcore is molked for all its worth, oversaturated, and rotting.
