NEWS ABOUT THE PROJECT 📰
A teenage girl and her unlikely group of adventurers must save their beautiful, blocky Overworld after the malevolent ender dragon sets out on a path of destruction.
The fact that a "Minecraft Movie" may be created was revealed on February 28, 2014 by Notch, when he posted on Twitter that Mojang Studios' partnership with Warner Bros. about a Minecraft film was being leaked. Script work began on March 2, 2014.
On June 27, 2016, Mojang Studios announced the title and release date for "Minecraft: The Movie" by showing the front cover of the script and publicly announcing a release date of May 24, 2019.
On October 13, 2016, it was announced that Jason Fuchs would be writing the script.
This film was originally going to be directed by Shawn Levy, but he left the project after disagreements with the Minecraft developers as they thought that his idea did not suit the game.
Warner Bros.' Minecraft is going through some massive changes, as the film has lost its director and gotten two new writers. Minecraft is based on the world-building game created by Markus “Notch” Persson that was released in 2009. Developed by Mojang, Minecraft is a sandbox survival game that allows players to build 3D worlds by using different types of cubes. Minecraft also allows players to explore and gather resources which they can later use to craft new objects.
