Mineko: Animation process

I'm back here!!
this time I make an animation. try drawing frame by frame on Procreate. But when I was coloring I had a bit of trouble so I switched to Photoshop. later will try better programs to draw FbF
this is also my first time trying to draw a 360 panorama background. At first, I only intended to draw a small part of the background image for the video, but I found it interesting so I drew more. You can see the full picture here

This is insane. the amount of effort and time you put here is just unimaginable. I was just hesitating to finish my work that took 10 hours, and you here, finishing the job which probably took more than hundred hours and taking the exact picture out of your mind to the real world, are just so inspiring. For 13 seconds this says a lot! Animation is the toughest thing to pull off & it's a shame most people think cartoons are for children...when this first started it was meant for everyone to enjoy & if you think about the person behind the creation & the message they want to share it is really magical! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Not all people, only old guys who didn't have a golden time growing up with this amazing thing called animation... Definitely, people who are right now at our age will not say that, because we know all about it.

It may look like only a few second animation but the work and time invested to create such quality animation is huge. As an animation student, I can empathize. The amount of time and energy spent is unimaginable for people who're unaware. 2D frame by frame animation is a lot of work, so kindly appreciate Dao senpai's work guys. jesus, thats insane. for 13 seconds thats a lot of heart. I kinda wish this somehow gets picked up by a good studio and publisher because this got some serious Sword of the Stranger and Moribito vibes. And obviously, they hire you. And if they're smart, they keep you and pay you big mounds of dooouuugh.

Very nice, congrats :-) The major problem is the two continuity issues: (1) the "small" sword (which doesn't match the "long" sword proportions shown in the draft at 10:15 nor its back position instead next to the foot) disappears from the scene after the camera rotation when it should be visible because it fall close to the left-foot; and (2) the "huge" Noh mash that it's invisible from the scene but suddenly it appears right in front of the feet of the character after the camera rotation, should be visible from the start between the legs of the character.

@Dao Le Thank you so much for sharing your process Dao, this is incredible work! In my humble opinion I would perhaps improve two things for the final result. 1) I would draw fewer in between frames when the character drops on his knees, so the impact is more pronounced... (my personal observation) 2) I would change the framerate of the background animation to match the character's animation... Currently your character is animated in 2's, but the background is on 1s (to be expected with a camera pan of a single image). Simple solution : Export your bg animation, with QT Animation codec, then import video into AE and use "Posterize Time" effect, to change layer framerate. (if you export the animation @24fps, then using Posterize Time with a value of 12fps, this will give you a perfect hold of 2frames) ;) I would also recommend you give TVPaint a try. It has some great camera & perspective tools that you may find valuable for your workflow :) I also found Paint & Stick 2.0 Plugin for AE to be very useful when drawing perspective stuff directly into After Effects. :) All the best! W O N D E R F U L!! So much work to create this short animation!!! Do you think that "building" the builds is way faster to you to be done by hand or via a 3D software?? I can see that you put so much details thereafter to add realism to the scene... I see the looooong road I have to take to eventually do 2D animation after so many decades in the desert of my pro life!! Excelsior!! ^^
