At 4:30 one nail 2 inches above one Mercury dime it's riding upper ferrous but not giving any TDI value at all. This happens alot. This would be a case of repeating tone and I bet on a 90 degree turn and sweep the TDI number value would then be given and very close to the actual TDI number for that Mercury of 82-83. So this is one to dig even if the TDI drops when sweeping over in one direction. As the 2d screen giving a circular target and tone is great. This usually happens on deep coins that are tilted slightly up. Anywho you start to figure this out after you dig several of these and it happens to be a coin. However I would say 90%of the time it will be a rusty bent nail or short rusty square nail with a decent size square head on it still. It will pick up on that head of the nail and kick 82-87 or so. My nemesis is rusty nails bent at depth with Manticore and Deus 2 when searching deep deep targets.

Yes I see all those things out in the field. The main thing for me is audio and repeatable in most cases the screen serves as just one more check or tool. Bent nails are a problem to almost all detectors especially square nails. Like I said at the beginning their are so many scenarios out there and these test are not to be what you will always see. The ground and other factors may produce different outcomes on the screen as well orientation and shape of the target. Minelab has at least given us one more tool to assist with audio I can’t tell you how many times I have dug multiple nails out of holes with targets. Anyway thanks for the great comment. 👍
