I am not geologist but I live In india... My grandpa was working in company which mines minerals, they bought white crystal like stones, they said it's "potash lumps" Or it might be "soda lumps" . They spark when we crash them, (I can't find a specific word 😅) I have a question :- are they expensive. I am an astronomer btw 😊

Is a pinkish feldspar always a K-feldspar (and vice-versa)?

Short answer: No. Long answer: No, although sometimes I'll cheat and tell my students they're unlikely to see one from me that isn't pink. Geology 101 classes sometimes lie--or maybe don't show the whole truth--about feldspars. There are a lot of different types of feldspars due to their slightly different chemistries and slight differences in crystalline structure. So to answer your question, no, you shouldn't really use JUST color to help you out on this one. But it can be helpful. We call this one in the video a potassium feldspar, but more accurately it's a feldspar called Orthoclase. Hi from Baltimore! Question about a rock with (potassium?) feldspar. Is this pegmatite? It is from the Piedmont up here. Also, I happened to put it under shortwave UV and portions glow bright green.
