I went through the whole video frame by frame: Frame 10 on second 20 is a guess Frame 28 on second 21 is a guess Frame 18 on second 31 is a guess

The 20 sec mark guesses are one of those things you learn after enough games... The game doesn't often put mines on the right edge/border in 4+ mine clusters, not a rule though, so watch out! It sucks when you're wrong on those guesses! That's one of those things where I wonder if that's truly a guess! Sometimes I feel like I'm actually deducting those, not guessing but can't figure out or explain how!

The number on a single cell/tile displays the total number of mines adjacent to it. For example, X being a mine and O being blank: XOO O1O OOO here we can see that "1" is being displayed b/c that X is adjacent to it. So if "#" is for one that has not been clicked yet, you can have: O 1 1 1 2 # 1 # # And from this we see that two of the three "#" are mines, and with some logical thinking you can guess that the grid looks like: O 1 1 1 2 X 1 X O It's a bit of luck sometimes but there are ways to tell when something is and is not a mine.

You click on a mine, you lose. Takes a bit of luck. The numbers indicate how many mines surround that tile.

Ultimately it's very skill based, but there's games where the last mine can be a coin toss and it feels shitty to lose like that.

You are right, but having 1 or 2 50% chances doesn't really count as "most RNG heavy speedrun" Any speedrun of an RPG or similar will have more RNg around every corner.

When you have a lot of RNG in a game, the RNG aspect averages out, and you are left with skill. Clue is the most RNG dependent speedrun, since it doesn't have enough RNG to average out.

no, it absolutely is random based. your first move is NEVER a guaranteed safe move, and there will often be tiles where you're forced to guess the right choice. when you decide to click a space with no discovered tiles, there's also a chance you could instantly lose.

He's following the path of least resistance, in other words he's going for the easiest to find mines first. More area he uncovers the easier to find the more difficult mines.

Excluding the opening moves where nothing opens and you're clicking aimlessly, there are maybe 1-5 guesses on an expert board. I had one game where the final move was literally a 50-50 guess in a corner. l picked wrong.

I'm down to 2:12 on a tablet with a pen! Eyeballing those mines soo good, must've played at least a dozen games before this, soo in the zone n locked in! Crazy lucky with all the phat mine clusters! 3 guesses too! Those are the ones where you can get a crazy fast time but you gotta get them all correct! I'm wondering if there's vids explaining advanced deduction strategies. Over time I've discovered a few but not sure I could get close to this time, even with a mouse! Very impressive!👍

How do you know which mines to mark and which to leave blank?

Most of the time he marks all the mines for a specific digit so he then can double click the digit in question, which is like clicking all the free squares still available around that digit at once. Besides that you either mark or don't mark, whatever you feel like: mark to avoid confusion or don't mark to save time
