This is the best video on this matter. I looked at all of them.

I have had a MSD coil on my Mini for several years and I didn't have a single misfire. Before that, I had this same coil on a 1999 Dodge Neon and didn't have a single misfire on the Dodge Neon either. There are a large following of MSD haters amongst Mini Cooper enthusiasts. But nearly all of them never had a MSD coil and simply repeat the same lie everyone else tells. One important thing to know is that MSD does NOT list the coil for the Mini Cooper. However, it doesn't take a college degree to see the Mini Cooper & Dodge Neon use the same coil part number. I think this fuels the MSD haters lies

Agreed. We have had no issues since fitting and runs better than stock which was abit lumpy compared to this. Many hate comments on social media about this video since posting. 🤷🏻♂️

Do you need to disconnect the battery?

Have you noticed any power difference, as in throttle response, with this MSD?
@Drivewaybuildz3 жыл бұрын
Not really any power gains at all. Just feels like the engine runs a bit smoother. 👍

If you dont widen the spark plug gap you gain no power from adding the MSD. The MSD provides more spark so you can increase the gap. More spark = Better Burn and more Power....On my JCW I have gaps set to .045. That is with 18lbs boost from -17% Supercharger pulley. Anything wider than that and boost will effectively snuff out the spark during WOT runs.

The standard as you call it is actually better than the MSD. It has been proven time and time again that stock coil pack is better.

Hey Ben, Thanks for your comment! This is just a how to video for if anyone would like to change to the MSD coil pack. We haven’t stated that it is better than the original. The original was causing the car to misfire so we changed it.

Proven how, before and after horse power figures? If so....where? Just curious....I fitted an MSD to mine, felt stronger low down.....and I can't see how it can't be better. I've used high output coils( Dyna) on bikes before, always an improvement. The company that produce these coils are tech wizards in this field...the spark is a Firestone over stock...please can you point me in the direction to show the low performance gains as I'm now very curious.many thanks.

Darren Lucas i think the stock and MSD are equivelant in performance apsects. not better or worse for either. not stats to proove. for us we liked the red and was nice to upgrade in that sence as its new aswell. 💪🏻

@@Drivewaybuildz I think lohen mini rate them as an upgrade.....I looked into MSD before buying and they practically supply most of the top dragsters and know there stuff, my thinking was more adding too help all the other stuff and it did feel crisper lower down the revs when I first drove it....but after a few days you forget as it just becomes the norm.....but yeah, red adds horsepower for sure.....so I'd say at least 5 here, maybe 8 because of the leads👊. Good upload and good choice of car

The original bolts dont fit ?

Abraham Mendez We didnt check to be sure... but if a kit comes with new bolts, always better to use new rather than old. 👍

those plugs are specially designed for lower heat you should have swapped them .

Don't use Denso plugs they shoot out of the Cylinder heads.

You should NEVER work on a car whilst wearing jewelery, ask any good mechanic. The first time you ark your jewelery on a power cable you will undestand why.

christ, that irritating background music is infantile.
@Drivewaybuildz3 жыл бұрын
Simon lloyd thanks for the constructive criticism. Its nearly as infantile as commenting on a youtube video about cars regarding the background music. You clearly know what you are talking about with the mega 1 subscriber that you have. 👍

@@Drivewaybuildz he was talking to “christ”, a fictional character from a shitty book, so wouldn’t take much notice.
