Mini Meltdown!!! How long should someone keep a Loc'd hairstyle in??!?!

Calling all head scratchers! head patters! itchy scalpers etc!!! The Struggle Is Real Folks!!!! I need to figure out how long I should be leaving my hair styled up without losing my mind!!!! lol How long do you leave your loc'd styles up?!?!

If you are uncomfortable... take your hair down. I love to get my locs styled but if it’s too tight or itches... set your hair free and oil your scalp thoroughly... you’ll feel great🤗

I literally have the same style in and searched up how long people normally keep their style in because I can not take it anymore. Apart from the dryness and constant itching I hate having my hair up. You've helped me come to the decision to take mine out tonight!! The style is great but I love my free locs

I am kmsl!!!! I have had mine up for 4 days and I am sooooooo ready to take it down!!! I have ALWAYS kept my hair short short and now it’s loc’d and GROWING like fertilizer is added to it and I am going crazy for real! This video was soooo me!!!! Cute and funny video! Girl yes... I managed an updo style for two weeks (yes 14 days exactly), before my scalp and locs begged to be freed from the bondage of beauty they were confined to! So I say you did the right thing! And besides, having any style in for too long can cause tension on the hair and we don't need that! So, bravo on setting your follicles FREE!! :) ~Lisa

freed from the bondage of beauty!!!!! lmbo!!!! yeah, leaving the style in for so long caused so much tension on my edges and so this was the last time I got my hair styled. This style was done the week before thanksgiving and its now Jan. My hair/scalp/edges needed a break. Thanks for the encouragerment!!!!

I get my hair twisted up and mine usually never itch at all or anything, im mostly worried about how long i should keep my hair styled before it all started to look up and become one big loc or whatever lol.

Depends on the style. If it’s a updo, those don’t last that long. I’d say 3 weeks max. If it’s two or more strand twist or plaits, you can go 2-3 months easy

I had to the same problem. Changes in your hair products should help. Try something that’s light on your hair.

I got a retwist and style Saturday the 16th and it's only the 19th.... mines about to come down.... between the itch and pain.... im almost THROUGH!!!!!!!!!!

I TRY to go through a 3 week routine: first week-keep it up, second week-wear it out and be cute, third week-let it breathe until next retwist

My dreads I got them braided 3 months ago and I still have them up I just grease my scalp and use rich water daily and forget about it but when you take them down the growth is crazzzzzzy you will see a big difference

Stay away from grease, it clogs your pores and stunts growth. If hair grows well now, it’ll go dumb once you stop using grease. I leave my styles in for months at a time too. All we need is a line up and we good to go

I have locs for over 10 yrs,the problem is not the style it's the dark.gel they use.Try pro style Clear Ice gel instead.It's clear,dont itch & works great.I keep my style in for at least 4 wks.

Use jamaican black castor oil it’s anti fungal and anti bacterial and anti itch. I used to have ITCHY scalp and after using the oil 1-2 a week I’m completely itch free

Use Benadryl spray on the itchy parts. I wouldn't personally leave a style in more than a week because of the tension.

I have just started my journey in 7/2014 and my head feels ichy like on day 3 and last for a week. I think it is the process of my head fighting against the twisting of my hair. I don't know but rubbing my scalp sure feels good.

Girl I feel you. By day 2 I wanted to take this out. It was a daily battle. Smh. But o got some advice on my Instagram page from someone. They suggested a spritz by Talia wahid. And oils on my scalp. I might try it.

i can only make it a week before my scalp starts itching. i just recently took down a style because i couldn't take it no moooo' so i'm not the best person to help you with this LOL. that style was nice on you while it lasted!

Lol!! Thanks. I asked someone how long they leave their styles in and she said 3weeks!!!!! So I felt like I was clearly doing something wrong because I take my styles out so soon. But others have reached out to me and said that they can only do it for a week or so too...that made me feel a lot better. 😜 how long have you been locd for?

Yeah about 2 weeks and im over the updo even tho im always styling. Someone told me why i would spend 125 on retwist and style to take them out in 2 weeks and my response is the retwist, thats the fruit of the loom, the style or updo or braid is the cherry on top to keep the retwists together for that length of time

this video was made a while back but is still use a good old fashion castor oil. Currently, I'm also supplementing with hair vitamins since my edges started thinning out after having my baby june 2017. So I'm doing oils and hair vitamins and it's actually working! my edges are making a come back for 2018!
