🔴 More about this video
This week we're continuing to expand our mind and options by taking a look at another factory-direct manufacturer - Coach House out of Florida. Coach House has been manufacturing motorhomes since 1985. Their current lineup include 3 class B+ (nee class C) RVs and 1 class B. I chose to feature their class B because it is one of only 2 available here in North America that features a dry bath - the other being the Winnebago Era 70M. Both are built on the extended Mercedes Sprinter 3500 chassis clocking in over 24' in length but unlike the Era 70M the Arriva doesn't feature a slideout to make up for the enormous space taken up by the bathroom.
The second big plus of the Arriva is that it is a 4 season RV. All the plumbing lines are internal to the coach as is its water tank. Optional heating pads are available for the external tank(s).
The Arriva is designed as a 2-person coach: other than the cab seats there are no other seat belts in the van, nor is there any option for a third berth.
The biggest drawbacks I see for this coach are its basic electrical system with no available upgrades and its front lounge. The mid-section bedroom is strictly a bedroom. While competitors like the Winnebago Travato 59K and Paseo feature mid-section twin beds they also utilize that area for dining and lounging. The Arriva's beds are just that - beds. They are not considered bench seats nor do they have a table option for this area.
The Arriva is also priced as a premium coach. It was difficult to find current pricing since the company did not return several emails. Used pricing for 2018 models are anywhere from $125k to $140k. For these higher price points I would expect a longer warranty than the 3 years that Coach House offers.
Still, if you're a couple who's in the market for a class B coach and you want a dry bath, then the Arriva deserves a look. You can fly out to their factory in Florida to check one out yourself and if you end up buying one Coach House will reimburse your travel expenses up to $800.

you're welcome bobo. this layout is almost perfect for a couple. 4 zones for living; dedicated beds and a dry bath. they need to make a lagun table available in the bed area so that you don't have to rely on only the front lounge as your dinette.

Thank You for adding Coach House to your review list! We are more in love with their B+'s so if/when you do B+'s keep them in mind. We saw this one at the Tampa show and it was next to the new Sprinter platform demo. We were stunned to learn that the new platform will still not accommodate Biodiesel B20. This is becoming more and more a problem away from population centers and we will not buy another diesel Sprinter as long as this situation exists.

As a Mercedes Master upfitter, Mercedes will honor the manufacturer warranty on chassis, unlike the Roadtrek. Something to consider when shopping for class B. Thanks for review.
@Ultramobility
@Ultramobility 5 жыл бұрын
that's correct. they *may* honor warranty work around an issue that involves say your electrical system but then again they may not and say that modifications were made and those modifications are the cause of the problem. also if there are any rv specific components etc. that need to be removed in order for the warranty work to be done then they may not do it and/or may require that you have those modifications removed on your own dime in order for them to do the warranty work.

I like the review - I've been a subscriber for awhile now, yet I've never heard the notification bell. Even so, I like any Mercedes Sprinter reviews but even more I like you to remember how much solar capability your reviewed RVs have. Truthfully, I could honestly care less about propane in fact don't want and IF I can not have enough solar/batteries on the RV you're reviewing, I'll wait unit the next review...…… Sometime soon I hope the manufacturers recognize the world is going to solar. BTW hope you hit the 100 patrons soon!!
@Ultramobility
@Ultramobility 5 жыл бұрын
thank you Charles! Coach House is not clear on the amount of solar available on the Arrvia. They say a 160w solar charger is an option but then say 170 solar charger is also optional. in general their electrical setup is minimal and in any case they can likely add more solar for you if you like since they are semi-custom.
@alliejr
@alliejr 5 жыл бұрын
@@Ultramobility Every Class B van has (approximately) the same footprint for solar panels and so it doesn't make sense that some offer half the soloar capacity of others. I think it comes down to the batteries (number and capacity of each), not the solar, per se. I would not buy less than a 400W system.
@Ultramobility
@Ultramobility 5 жыл бұрын
well what I've noticed is that placement of certain rooftop components like vents, exhausts for your grey and black water tanks as well as antenna(s) tend to eat in to the available space for solar panels. just my observation.

you've got to really want a dry bath to justify the extra length that's for sure. but some folks really do want that and this is a good option. your only other choice is the winnebago era 70m and then you have to deal with a slideout and all that that entails. thanks for the comment!

Thank you for this! Your video has given me the idea to look into Coach House... I've been looking for a USA-built Class B/mini C that at least gets close in quality to Pleasure-Way. Speaking of which, I love that company's products, but for some reason they have reduced their decor and paint options. The one you were standing in has what P-W called "copper" cabinetry, and that's what I want, but they no longer offer it. They also only offer silver and white external colors. I think at that price point they'd make some changes for the customer! Another comment here says Coach House will make alterations. I wish more RV manufacturers would consider it.

It's my understanding the new Transit might be on dealer lots by the end of 2019, but it usually takes a year, after intro, for models to reach coachbuilders. (i.e., Ford--and all manufacturers--- prioritizes it's dealer network to receive new stock before the coachbuilders).

Doesn't the leisure travel Van not have a dry bath as well?
@Ultramobility

leisure travel vans does not make class b's any more. their name is kind of misleading because they don't build on van chassis any longer. their dry baths are in their class b+ (nee class c) motorhomes which are not vans.

Sorry to hear they haven't gotten back to you. Especially after the excellent review you did. I just called and spoke to Rita in Sales and mentioned that I just saw your review on KZfaq, which prompted my call to them. I asked her about the CCC. She didn't know the exact number but was sure it was under 1000 lbs. If it's too far under that would be a deal breaker. Do you have to have a PayPal account to be a patron on your channel? The foldout table is an obvious fail. But, otherwise it's a very nicely laid out interior for two. You could buy a wooden folding tray type table for the passenger. In fact, if I were to buy one I'd insist that Coach House reduce whatever price I negotiated by the cost of the folding tray table just on principle for the very obvious failure in design of their own foldout table.
@Ultramobility
@Ultramobility 5 жыл бұрын
I think they should have included a pedestal table for the rear beds. not sure why they didn't. maybe the height of the benches are too high or they are too deep but I think having only that fold out table in the front as your only eating area is a mistake.

yep agree. I also would not like that exterior TV's placement. it's been raining here in CA a lot and I know on my sprinter than when I slide open the side door that a lot of rain hits the back side of the kitchen counter. I would *not* want any piece of electronic there.

hi erin - not aware of any airstream class b that has a dry bath - the interstate has a wetbath. if you're talking about the atlas, that's not a class b, that's a class c and yes there are lots of class c's with dry baths but as far as smaller class b *vans* there are only two: the winnebago era 70m and this one.

@Erin-Thor 5 жыл бұрын
Ultramobility - But aren’t they on the exact same chassis’s?

@@spacesaverbob The difference between B and C class is simple and has nothing to do with size. A B class is on a van chassis and a C is on a truck chassis. Also, despite what manufacturers tell you there is no such thing as a B plus.
