I don't know of any games that follow this formula, but there are definitely some adventuring themed card games. I did a runthrough of a game called Call to Adventure a little while ago that you might like kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bthpm5Cqnaeyp6M.html . It has great artwork and lets you tell a new story each time.

One deck dungeon is kinda like this. ODD is a really fun game and is also solo or co-op

Depending on your interests there are several games that I've been looking at and have backed that use dice and cards to illustrate an adventure. Escape the Dark Castle by Themeborne. Themeborne also has a new game coming out this year, similar in style to Escape the Dark Castle, which is Escape the Dark Sector. Also check out Spire's End by Greg Favro and the last one on my radar is Iron Helm by Grey Gnome Games

It's different, but a game that scratches a similar itch for me is Expedition: the RPG Card game. Something worth checking out imo.

I figured I'd mention the more modern games that people are likely to be familiar with. I actually came into roguelikes a little late in the game and don't have much (any) experience with the classics. I tried Stone Soup a while back, but couldn't get into it. I totally get why people like them, they're just not to my taste.

@@RTFM Yeah stone soup is a kitchen sink approach to the original (Linely's) Dungeon Crawl and a lot of the fine tuned elements of the original gets lost in DCSS. I fully understand that people have no patience for ADoM, it's a struggle, a repetitive struggle, unless you save scum, which I suggest any one to do when starting out with any classic Rogue Like (honestly I wouldn't call Slay the Spire, which I love, a RL, since it's so focused on the board game deck-building mechanisms). I mostly just used my post to spread some knowledge about the two big actual Rogue Likes (that's not the original Rogue and the most popular of them being Net Hack).

A person of culture I see. The biggest inspiration to Mini Rogue were certainly the old-school ones: Rogue, NetHack, and grid based dungeon crawlers like Eye of the Beholder, Dungeon Hack! Cheers!
