Hello Everyone
Thank you for joining me today.😊
Todays tutorial is a fun way to carve your very own stamps from cheap dollar store erasers.
I just love creating these mini stamp collections. You can create a full theme on any subject.
I know that many of you have done this in the past or even at school. I was out of Lino when I saw an eraser and thought yup and gonna try carving it. And then I ran out and bought even more erasers. Lol. Now I’m obsessed with this mini size.
I hope you enjoy the video, subscribe for more and give me a thumbs up. Also if there is any thing else you would like to see on this Chanel please feel free to let me know.
Cheers and happy crafting!
Michele

They make nice little gifts too with a pad of ink and a little handmade notebook.😊 Merci.

I have occasionally found larger erasers at a dollar store… about 1 1/2 x 4”. Usually in the teacher area. I love the designs you carved.

If you paint on your pad beforehand it’s easier to see what you have carved. It helps a lot.

Reminds me of the old days when people used to make stamps by carving potatoes 🥔. Of course they didn’t keep. I saw a lady on YT using a kneaded eraser to make impressions of objects and then used them to stamp Gelli plates. Such clever ideas! 👍🏼

Looks like so much fun. With the low cost of the eraser it takes the pressure off that it has to be perfect. Love your stamps!

You're such an inspiration! Now I need erasers and a carving tool--I've tried an exacto knife and didn't like the results, so maybe this will work much better.

You should look into flex cut tools they say for woodcut. The V gouge that you like, the set has two smaller one that are great.

Love your channel and style, so happy it came across my feed. You can also carve on the other side of those erasers, they're thick enough, I do, more bang for your buck!

If you bought a straight edge one you can go around the edges of your design and that helps with cutting away the pieces. I learned how when I was a teenager on linoleum. I still have it 😊 great idea using the erasers❤ thank you for sharing your hand made stamps ❤❤

A way to see what you have carved is to do a rubbing with a piece of paper and graphite pencil. From a lino artist.

Sometimes it can be very helpful to make a stop cut at the end of the line you’re carving. This would stop you from going over the edge or stopping at a particular line and not going over it. You could use an X-Acto knife or a sharp knife to Put in a cut at the end going the other way so that when you carve up to it, it stops it from going any further. Hope that makes sense.

What a brilliant idea and it’s good because you can do the same design but opposite ways if you know what I mean! The first stamp you have with the two “triangular” shaped leaves are facing to the right but obviously print facing to the left. How many times if you’re doing multiple prints that you want the same design but facing the opposite way, if you’ve bought a commercial stamp then it’s generally just the one design the one way. With this you could do the reverse design on the backside of the eraser so you’d cut the design out facing to the left so it printed out to the right! If you have the two ways in one eraser you’ve maximised your use but you have both to hand .

Hi Michelle, great video. I’m a new subscriber and enjoy your videos very much. Regarding the glue you are using; I use the same glue what I have done when the glue starts to get a bit dry , use a bit if rubbing alcohol, just pour it in let it sit for a while then shake it well until alcohol mixes with the glue, and it will thin out the glue, and makes it flow easier.
