Miniature Trains That You Can Ride! Steam Trains, Model Trains, Building 3 Foot Narrow Gauge Track

Out Door Model Trains With Real Railroad Crossing! Model Trains, Steam Trains, Riding A Garden Railway Train In Carillon Historical Park! These Model Trains & Toy Trains Are In Dayton, Ohio. The whole train ride through the park and over a cool railroad crossing was filmed. A new 3 foot gauge railroad track was being built and we can see the right of way for the line around the park and it has a bridge over the garden railroad. They will use a small replica steam locomotive on the new track. I show the new rail up close. Some of the track from my last visit is rusty and out of service. It will be rebuilt and put back into service when the new 3 foot gauge line is completed. One of the garden railroad trains that you can ride is a real steam locomotive and there are a few smaller ones on the outside model railroad layouts under the tents. More model trains are inside the main buildings and Americas oldest built Baltimore And Ohio Railroad locomotive is on display behind the model train layouts. The John Quincy Adams was built in 1835 and could run 80 miles on one ton of coal.

Railroad track steel is one of the highest quality products of steel on the market. It is also very expensive and will fetch a very high price for scrap steel. I should know I use to work for a scrap junk yard that had a car shredder. That scrapyard also had a burning yard where a lot of steel was burned there. I use to burn a lot of Railroad steel in that scrap yard and I enjoyed it very much Because it burned so well. I worked there from 2003 to 2006 when I told my yard foreman to stick his job where the sun don't shine because I couldn't stand him anymore 😃

Boy this is a place one day doesn't do it justice. So much cool stuff and if you miss a train another will be along shortly. They must have some full time track crew and speaking of tracks that 36" section should be real neat. Perfect place for the entire family5

Yes, I look forward to seeing the 3 foot gauge train next year. That will be really cool. One thing I would like to do is film a Norfolk Southern train going by on the bridge over the river. I could film it from on top of the tower that overlooks the park if I can get lucky. Lol

Hi there . I'm actually the guy and my crew building the 3ft gauge track around the park. We building a mile of track around and it's also going into the barn also. They have designed a 1800s steam locomotive that's going to pull 2 cars around. It's going to be battery powered.

I took the family to Train Mountain near Chiloquin Oregon in 2012 to ride their 20 plus miles of track. It was awesome. 1/8 scale is not a poor man's hobby. Each car costs hundreds and locomotives can cost tens of thousands. Don't see many stub turnouts any more. The park looks stunning, would love to see it. Absolutely cool video!

About halfway through this video, Jawtooth mentioned that the inner rails are guardrails. This is incorrect. This portion of the track is actually multi-gauge track, so those are actually rails for trains of different gauges, like 2.5”, 4”, etc. Much of the track at Carillon has been removed temporarily for the building of the 3’-gauge track. We are in the process of putting it all back together again which is why Jawtooth showed that some track was “abandoned”, and when we do get it all back together, we will be capable of a 12-minute ride rather than the 5-minute Jawtooth took us on earlier.

What an awesome day at the park, Jaw Tooth! Looks like a whole lot of family fun! The model trains are so cool. Very detailed locomotives. The view from the tower is nice. That BNSF Loco is amazing! Too bad they don't have a NS Loco. Wow!! The John Quincy Adams engine! Built in 1835 and still looks as if it would run! All the model train layouts look great! Looks like they got some work ahead of them at the park. Hey Chessie and gang!!

Thank you for this video about trains that one can see at the Carillon Historical Park in Dayton, Ohio, Jaw Tooth. They certainly have a wide variety of railroad guages available to see there. I remeber seeing a previous video that you did from this location. You climbed up the stairs to get to the upper most platform on that clock tower in that other video too. The John Quincy Adams steam locomotive that was built in 1835 is amazing to see. It would be interesting to see that steam locomotive run if it was capable of running.

Those middle rails are to allow for different gauge trains of a smaller scale to operate on the same tracks together. If I remember correctly the widest gauge is 7-1/2” and the narrowest is 3”.

Cool, you got ride the one and only 7695 Golden Swoosh! Well a mini one at least. I'd love to see mini MOW equipment at work. You had filmed the cow being abducted. I'm not sure if the aliens had moved to a different location or not? I don't think the steamer had the remotes for the signals.

We have a similar setup in Clearwater FL. A local club worked a deal, and the tracks run around a city park. Once a month they invite the public to ride.

We have a wonderful place--the Hesston Steam Museum here in northwest Indiana. They have steam powered trains from those little ones you ride on top of the cars to full size ride in cars. 3 separate lines that wind through a woods' Plus all kinds of other steam powered equipment.

I really like visiting these places that you go to. Love those mini trains! That loco looked like a spongebob. 14 cars on that one train. So are we calling the new bridge and the curve the Dayton Shoefly? Those model trains are an expensive layout. Very, very nice.

That's a really great place for kids of all ages. A friend of mine and I were talking about Carillon Park the other day. I mentioned I was looking at Dayton on Google Maps and he said his sister lives there. He and his son had planned to visit the park when they were out there last year but the few days they were there, it was raining so bad they couldn't do it. He said the next time they're they are there they will definitely visit. Seeing the real models is exciting for me and makes me think back to my N-scale layout and parts I have packed away in crates and boxes. There's something special about real models I can't describe, but with no space and no money to do a layout properly, I gave up years ago and packed everything away. I haven't given up though and do my railroading virtually in my computer using Trainz Plus (TRS22+) where I can model a real mainline and run at prototypical speeds without taking much space at all. The cost too is so much less expensive. Kitty looks hot. The weather is miserable this year even for hot summers.
