The fairy drawing is so pretty! And, the case is pretty functional and nifty. But, the 1st one seems the most practical... at least in my opinion. 😊

4:54 This is a 90s Taiwanese pencil case. It's probably impossible to trace the original stationary company in Taiwan that made this but I'm sure someone does. They made a bunch of weird designs like Watches, VHS camcorders, Rotary Phones, etc. The plastic moulds are all unstamped and either come in a clear bag labelled "Pencil box" or a cardboard box with a simple "MADE IN TAIWAN" on the back, no way to identify the manufacturer.

I used to have those old-fashioned ones when I was little. I loved them, I still remember the feeling of pressing all the buttons and organising everything into the compartments. Thank you for bringing back the memories.

I have one similar to the 2nd from the right, the red one. I bought it from a second hand market when I was a little girl and I was obsessed with it for a time. It was so gorgeous to me and I have never seen that design again. The Showa drawings are the best! Real art

My European ass who never saw them before I saw Minori showing them in one of her videos months ago was like: "What the heck?" Here in Europe most primary school kids do own thse foldable pencil cases who have like 2-4 sides you can fold and than close with a zipper where you put pencils in (to make them hold in place there is a type of elastic band for every pencil) and later on most kids will have a round pencil case pouch or a pencil case where you store stuff loosly and only your most needed pencils (like ink pencil or graphite etc.) are stored on top with elstic bands (you can imagine it like you unzip a mouth and the tongue in the middle has these elestics for like 5-6 pens on there) and yeah it makes more sense to have these pencil cases that I grew up with since you need all sorts of pencils for school like highlighters, markers, colored pencils, graphite pencils, ink pens,... and especially in primary school we had a few more pencils we neede to own like ink pens that you can whipe off of plastic foil for example and some more. When I was in my last year of school I took a ink pen, a pen that removes ink and can corect the erea you removed, a graphite pencil, colored pencils. markers, fineliners, an ereaser, a triangle ruler, a sharperner, glue stick and scissors to school. You also had been the king or queen of the class if you brought duct tape to school

The violin is soo cutee

The one that has a hello kitty with a lot of slots was in the 80s. I remember almost every male and female student had cool pencil cases to show off with a lot of Mongol pencils, sharpener or cool erasers. I only knew few who used mechanical pencils as their writing instruments. There are a lot of students who want to show off, but there are some who forgot their pencils at schools. All of the functional pencil cases had popular and cute characters like Snoopy, Hello Kitty, Transformers and other cool designs of pencil cases in the Philippines.

I've just discovered your channel, i love the authencity betweeen what you share and your words. IMHO the last one could have been made by someone who had still a child spirit since it was made with an environnement (house, caractères), open to create many stories. Maybe the most funny. The hello Kitty one is also funny, but i feel that after few days, most childrens will become bored, despite all the work to create it. The two others are in the same category for me, very well made, with functionnality as a prime thought. I never knew about these. The best i had here was a metal box, sometimes with nices drawings, but still very basics in conceptions. Thank you for sharing theses. i've discovered something very uniq, like i guess for many others countries, thank you for this share and the work you ave put into this realisation.

We have a lot of these pencil cases as well in the ph, they got really popular when i was young. Usually youd get a pouch or one of those aluminum pencil cases, but the cool kids [who are also wealthy] get these multi use pencil cases. My mom never got me one cuz she said it was a waste of money.😂 she did get me aluminum ones that have multiple levels that open up like a caboodle which ended up lasting longer than these swiss army knife lookin pencil cases. Still it wouldve been nice to experience having one. The showa era designs look so precious. I think i prefer them over newer blockier cartoon styles.

We had a lot Japanese stationeries in the 80s. They were cheap but well built. These pencil cases remained me of the ones i had in elementary school but none with buttons and secret compartments

I was so addicted to these Japanese pencil cases during elementary school and remembered having the Digimon Tamers version to show off my friends who likes Digimon like me😅. I personally love pencil cases version 1,2 and 3 and until these day, im still hunting down these pencil cases but the Digimon theme on it🥰🙈

Oh! in the second case, judging by the folding line and the groove underneath, I think you can fold the pencil holding flap into a standing position!

I wonder if the heirarchy of 1980s Japanese elementary school kids was based on who had the coolest pencil case.

For me the first video of this was actually my first time seeing functional pencil cases. Maybe we have kinda similar ones but in germany we either have just boxes out of metal or plastic but no functionality, just space or soft ones out of fabric and reinforcements inside (probably some kind of stiff cardboard).
