OK, so none of these are 'high-end' just an average collection of MD recorders, mainly bought second-hand. My Minidisc portable recorder collection rated worst to best. I use KOSS Portapro, AKG K451 on-ear, or Soundmagic or Onkyo in-ears. I record plays from the radio to play in the car and record old vinyl to MD. I also have 4 'hi-fi' minidisc decks.I still thinks its a great format!

I am using MZ-N710 and with some modern day open-source NetMD software that doesn't limit how many discs you can write with one audio file, it's definitely a nice device.

I bought the Sony N510 in 2003, the year it was released. I found it in my basement 2 weeks ago. Not only does it still work, but now I can transfer lossless tracks in lp2 mode from my pc to disc. Sound quality is so good, I don't know why I stopped using it. Also, I used to be able to edit music while recording. This technology needs to be revived.

My Sharp MD MT88, bought in 2002, has a HUGE dent in the back and I recently found it in a box with a battery still in it.. the battery had leaked.. but it still bloody works! Best 100 quid I ever spent

I find it kind of funny that I'm listening to a minidisc as I type this comment (for anyone wondering, I'm using a Sony MZ-R35, but I hope to get an MDLP capable player/recorder at some point in the next few months)

Get the Sony MZ-NHF800, Net MD, radio FM/AM, long play mode and u can it to any AV receiver, SUPERB!!!

I have about 40 MiniDIscs and, even though I have loads of HiMD, NetMD and MDLP models, I keep going back to the trusty old MZ-R35. It's a fully metal beast and has better amplification than any of the later models. I have 2 MZ-R35s and also an MZ-R30, which is virtually identical. As far as I can tell it is just minor cosmetic differences between them.

Use rechargeable batteries in the Sony r37, it’s really good. The Sony 510 type s is also very good. The sound from both is exceptional.

I have a Sharp MT29 and it is really nice and has a great sound, plus it's so small and light for a recorder, makes my original Sony MZ-R35 that I used to own look like an outdated brick.

Can't wait to get another Minidisc player/recorder. I had an MD-N505 a long time ago. Can't remember if I gave it away or trashed it but I can't find it now so it's gone either way. Picked up an N707 on eBay. Going to put that into production just to play music. Hopefully it'll be compatible with the web app.

Rather go for models which runs on AA batteries and use standard headphones Sony did made such models

Virtually all of them use standard headphones. In fact, I've never come across one that didn't. I have many that run on AA batteries and quite a few on Gumstick as well as some that use a LIP-12 battery. As both the Gumstick and LIP-12 batteries are still available new, it hasn't been a problem. I've avoided all models that use the LIP-4 batteries as you can't get them for love or money, and also the ones with built-in internal batteries.

Net MD is still usable on windows 10 I use it for my blue 710 ^^

I've found web minidisc works best. Just got to use zadig, with the MD plugged in, to get the drivers from it and it works pretty well

The only problem I have encountered with Platinum MD is not being able to write multiple tracks at once sometimes. Otherwise it works just fine with the NetMD units I have.

This technology is obsolete. It has a high probability to breakage. Due to it's machnics, having moving parts inside of it. Therefore, their no point of this technology incomparison to the technology that we have today, which is not so machanical, and more durable.
