My first MiniFreak tutorial is here! I walk through the steps of making a couple patches and giving them life with modulation and macro assignments. What an incredibly useful tutorial for not only the minifreak but for synthesis sound design as well, super clear and easily understandable . I’ve been getting frustrated because minifreak is my first synth and I’ve been trying to go off of the manual and a couple tutorials but none of them have connected the dots like this. As someone who hasn't owned a synth in 15 years and just got a minifreak this week, this video is a fantastic introduction to patch creation. Thanks so much for the dive. As someone who hadn't looked at the name of your channel before watching the video, but played 1500+ hours of D1 and listened to all the podcasts, I'm embarassed that I hadn't recognized you before you named that bass patch.

Programmed that awesome bass patch, and really appreciate the tutorial. Awesome video! Would you be able to suggest how to get the style the old Juno synths would crank out in early 2000s Canadian synth punk bands like really early hot hot heat or the red light sting? I guess I'm going for the carnival style and I'm sure it's doable on the mini freak. Id love a patch tutorial by you, but if it's too much maybe just some advice will do. Thanks!

This is so good. Even when you think you have a solid understanding of your hardware, there's so many ways to combine those values and effects and macros in a way that only comes with insights from years of experience. You share that type of knowledge, and that on a fairly new device on the market. I just started to love my minifreak even more after seeing your video. Now it itches to take it out and design that new sound for my next song. Thank you and keep it up! ❤

Looking at getting a MiniFreak; is there only one envelope, or can you have separate ones for the VCA and VCF?

The worst thing about this synth is that all the sounds from it are mono. The only reason why there is stereo out is the FX section. There is no stereo spread on oscillators or on unison options.

One question: do the OSCs have two independent envelopes? Could you get one to be more plucky and the other to have like a long attack and Release?

How do you get minifreak to play a loop?

With the sequencer you can record 64 notes total. You can either rec them individualy or live. Then you hit play and it will loop the lenght of the sequence. the sequencer is the 3rd button on top of the keys, rec is the 5th and play is the 4th.

Going a bit fast and a lot of 'we're gonna' while turning a knob. How about saying why you're going to do something first before taking action. That way it's more clear. Thanks for the content, I will rewatch a couple of times to get the most out of it.

Great video, but it's pronounced "TAM-ber". I'm sorry, but someone will tell you eventually. Maybe it's better that it's someone on the internet that you never have to see in real life. I know, it's spelled like it should be pronounced "timber", but that's not how you say it. I guess it's French or something.
