This is really great and I really like the foldable backpack! I also like that you add a list of the contents so I don’t have to keep going through the video to find the products I liked and would like to one day get. Thanks for the video!

Great informative video. I think the only thing I would add to your kit is a poncho. Its a great multi purpose piece of kit for staying dry and also could be used as a shelter.

Agreed. This kit is very similar to my Get Home Bag. In it I opted for a military style poncho instead of a tarp. It works as a shelter cover, and also can cover my body and pack as I move.

Can't stress how important it is to actually get out and use your gear so you know not only how to use it, but what stuff you still need and others you thought you did but don't and can streamline from your pack. Good info

Great vid. Need to work on a bag for myself. My problem is organization. Seems like I can gather supplies, but organizing them and getting them into a usable system is an insurmountable obstacle! Lol Thank you for the inspiration to keep trying. 🇺🇸

NEVER WON ANYTHING, BUT JUST WANTED TO SAY, MINIMALIST ULTRALIGHT IS THE WAY TO GO. SUPREME EFFICIENCY, JUST GOT A SKELETOOL, BUT ONE THING ULTRA MINIMALIST ADD ON I DID WAS A SWISS ARMY HUNTSMAN, BETWEEN THE TWO, LOT OF FUNCTION COVERED IN JUST TWO PIECES OF KIT. LOVE THE SKELETOOL, BUT ADDING A HUNTSMAN MAKES IT A FORCE MULTIPLIER EXPANDED FUNCTION, SAW , AWL, SCISSORS, CAN OPENER, NOT FOUND ON SKELETOOL. I'VE WATCHED A LOT OF SETUPS, WHAT I LOVE ABOUT YOURS IS IT'S BASIC, SIMPLE AND STRAIGHT FORWARD , BUT COVERS MOST OF CANTERBURY 10 C . GOOD JOB, ULTRALIGHT, MINIMALIST, AND MOST OF ALL, A STREAMLINED GO PACK.

Great video, very practical bag and light weight! That fire cord is really cool and I might have to pick one up. I also have a water filter for my get home bag and not a steel bottle that I would need to boil water. The quicker I can get water and get home the better. Fire takes more time, but always nice to have the capability when needed.

Good content, one thing I learned by experience, lock the thumb lever on the Bic lighters so it doesn't accidentally get depressed and all your fluid leaks out. I use a small zip tie that goes around the lighter and under the lever so it can't be depressed. It can easily be removed and put back on. I also remove the childproof metal cover over the lighter's striking wheel, that way I can use it with wet, cold or gloved hands without it blocking my use.

Hi, nice kit, like others have commented I would add some better food supplies, and a lightweight cooking pot, plus wooden spoon, and cut a ranger band thin enough to twist 3 times below the lever on those bic's, I also put more bands onto the Bic body to use as tinder, it will burn when wet, I've been carrying one secured like this in my pockets for the last 7-8 yrs ,still got gas, the bands a bit fiddly to get off when hands are cold, I just cut it off and set fire to it,lol. Seasonal best wishe's to you and your's, Stuart.uk.

Another advantage of a minimalist kit is that if you have to pack up in a hurry, its easy to throw a few items in your bag and head out instead of washing pots and rolling up sleeping bags.

I would suggest getting some of those bug spray wipes if you really want to have some form of insect repellent. And I definitely think having an emergency blanket and an emergency Pancho would be worthwhile items to have. Oh and some stormproof matches just in case.

I have a green "Umake" bug out bag from Amazon that I keep in its pouch ready to pack in my Jeep. The contents would be very similar to yours including a Mora Companion. I have a Grayl water purifier and a Gerber Strongarm. Loaded with a 72 hour (4Patriots) food pouch and a liter of water in the Grayl, the bag weighs just under 11 pounds. I even threw in a couple of those 5-year food bars which I cut up and placed them in a ziploc bag. I like carrying a couple extra one gallon freezer ziploc bags and two 55 gallon contractor bags, one for a makeshift mattress and one as an emergency shelter, layer or as a rain cover/poncho. On a weekend survival training and weapons class I "survived" a weekend on two of those bars, or bricks I call them. There were several students in the class that carried 40+ pounds bug out bags and obviously they struggled the entire weekend on the hikes but were comfortable in camp. I still prefer the minimalist load out.

Having a kit you can move around as needed is really a smart thing to do if you have multiple bags. I keep my basic kit in a Hidden Woodsmen survival kit pouch. It is always in whatever bag I have, along with my single-walled stainless bottle, so I always know what I have and don't have.

Nice setup. You ever think about carrying liquid IV powder packets? They add electrolytes to your water to hydrate you even more. The packets weight next to nothing. You can find them at Costco and amazon. Could help out on those hotter days 👍

That peanut butter is forward thinking. Rusty mora... tetanus.... lock jaw.... peanut butter! Things to consider: Clear plastic sheet (to be used with the emergency blanket to make a supershelter), replace each bic lighter with 2 mini bic lighters, water filter, passport, zippo hand warmer & fuel, mule tape, replace the handle of your firesteel with fatwood and a orange loop of firecord lanyard + a carbide sharpening tool as a striker, and a folding saw (silky or laplander). Also next time you are in a rainforest, remember that the bark on the tree is dry and a great source of tinder.
